It's an Ovarian Fibroma | Handling the Upcoming Surgery
I started having some bowel issues that led to a possible uterine fibroid. A 15cm long growth and two ovarian cysts were found with an ultrasound. After a CT scan, the doctor says it is an ovarian fibroma. Surgery is coming up in 5 days! I have never had surgery before and I share how my faith in God is helping me prepare for this journey.

    I am having a very difficult time meeting my macros. I'm doing Keto on Steroids by Dr. Berg ( the one you have to pay for on his website) and he says dairy and nuts are not allowed. So even with 6oz protein ( herring and sardines), 4 cups spinach, 2 cups asparagus and 1tbs of coconut oil. Still can't meet the caloric or fat intake as he recommends. I'm completely full by the time I eat my meal. So an hour later is when I eat the second serving of meat ( may it be herring or sardines, which even I didn't eat first). Do you have any suggestions?

    • @ashupgrade1277
      @ashupgrade1277 4 года назад

      Hey! I did not pay for his plan, I simply went by this video: ruclips.net/video/mlJRSebJ0XA/видео.html, so I am unsure of what additional guidelines he lays out. I am trying all different lengths of fasts and keto protocols and am finding some things work and some things don't work for me. When I tried Keto on Steroids, it did not work for me. I want to revisit it at some point, but I'm not ready yet. With all that being said, my advice to you (and I'm no expert) would be to switch up your proteins and/or fats,. If you are open to trying different foods, you may find that you can more easily meet your caloric/macro intake with foods that are more dense in those areas. Then you will also not have to eat as much! Personally, I feel better and more satiated with avocado and pecans compared to coconut oil. I have also learned that my body/amount of ketones respond much better to straight MCT oil than coconut oil. There are so many variables to consider, so trying different foods may give you an overall better idea of what your body responds well to and what does not help in your journey. I hope you find this suggestions helpful! Please keep me updated if you would like!

    • @danielw.7705
      @danielw.7705 4 года назад

      @@ashupgrade1277: thank you for replying. I added more fat yesterday and I lost one pound today. So I ate a whole avocado today too. It's the amount of vegetables he recommends that keep me full and his restrictions on dairy make this a struggle. If dairy was allowed them heavy cream and cheese would make it easier to meet my fat and caloric macros. I noticed my body doesn't respond well to MCT oil, too. My body does better with steamed veggies as such large quantities as well. 6 cups of raw vegetables is such a big volume for a stomach that wasn't used to that much food. If you don't mind me asking, what meals did work for you? BTW, I'm using micro mgr app to help keeping track of meals

    • @ashupgrade1277
      @ashupgrade1277 4 года назад

      The amount of vegetables is definitely hard to intake during such a short eating window! I’m glad you’ve seen a difference with changing up your fat. Cheese and dairy are easy to use with keto. I have taken it out of my diet again because I have multiple sclerosis and there is some evidence that dairy is harmful to me. Are you asking what my favorites were during keto on steroids or in general? It’s been awhile with many sleeps since I tried keto on steroids. I really like the foods that he highlights in his video. I did attempt to switch things up a bit but the entire program didn’t last long for me. I’m thinking that my gut health/hormones/possible insulin resistance was worse than I thought. I love salads, but eating raw vegetables does bloat me. I’ve been cooking more veggies lately and I stick with chicken or pork. I’m also sticking to cleaner healthy fats like avocado, avocado and olive oils, and MCT oil. Cutting out dairy and red meat is hard, but I’m seeing some results for the first time in a long time!

      Being on keto definitely helps with hunger. For me personally, I find that eating around lunch time is best. There are times that I may feel hungry late at night, especially if I’m hormonal. I’ll either drink lots of water or go to bed. If I feel really, really hungry, I may have some olives, some seaweed, or some celery with sunflower butter. I would say this happens seldom now.

      @@ashupgrade1277 that's the kind of diet i'm trying to get my brother on (he has MS too). what's your full meal consist of?

    • @ashupgrade1277
      @ashupgrade1277 4 года назад

      It will include protein like 80/20 grass-fed ground beef, chicken, or a decent brand of bacon mixed with vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, zucchini, or cabbage. I use spices and olive or avocado oil to cook with and I usually add cheese. Although, I have read that people with MS need to stay away from dairy. That will be the next thing that I will attempt - dairy-free keto. Keto with cheese is so easy, though! I also like eggs, tuna, or salmon salad with avocado mayonnaise, green lettuce/spinach, and pickles. I try to take in sauerkraut and kimchi often for the benefits. If I need a snack, I like olives by themselves or guacamole with mushrooms (use the mushrooms as a chip to dip in the guacamole). You can look up keto recipes based off of what your brother likes if he is a picky eater. Pizza and ice cream are my favorite foods, so there are times that I will make pizza with zucchini as the base, add sugar-free pizza sauce, pepperoni, and cheese and then have some Rebel or Halo Top ice cream. It’s a journey and you have to find things that work for you or your brother’s tastes. Hope this helps!

    You mentioned that all your MRI showed was some sinus issues. Was it just an MRI of your brain? I don’t see a neurologist until the 5th it November. But I had an MRI in July (when my neurology referral was made) and all the MRI of my brain only showed was “partial opacification of the left frontal and right sphenoid sinuses”. I’ve got a laundry list of symptoms and am 100% convinced that it has to be MS. Nothing else fits. Infact, it was my ophthalmologist that first suggested that MS might be the culprit, even before I had any numbness. I’m sure my neurologist is going to want to consult with him after my appointment.

    • @ashupgrade1277
      @ashupgrade1277 5 лет назад

      Yes, the first MRI in September 2017 was of the brain with and without contrast. I went back through my paperwork for the exact verbiage about the sinuses from the imaging location: There is moderate to severe left maxillary sinus mucoperiosteal thickening with an air-fluid level suggesting an acute component. Moderate bilateral ethmoid sinus mucoperiosteal thickening is seen. The remaining visualized paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are well aerated. The second MRI in December 2017 was of the spine and brain with and without contrast. I do not have that radiologist report on hand. You mentioned numbness and an ophthalmologist- are you experiencing optic neuritis? It’s hard to wait so long to get answers, isn’t it?!! Please let me know what else I can answer for you. My best goes out to you during this hard journey.

    • @justKOZM
      @justKOZM 5 лет назад

      Well it all started at the beginning of the year when my migraines started becoming more frequent and severe. So my first thought was to get my glasses prescription checked. I got my new prescription in May and talked with my ophthalmologist about the migraines. He said it could take a couple weeks to see any improvement. But on the 4th of July I got a very different migraine. It lasted in total 13 days and included symptoms of dizziness, twitching behind my eyes, balance and memory problems, and even the whole right side of my face tightening. I made an appointment to see my ophthalmologist when the twitching behind my eyes started. He couldn’t find anything wrong with my eyes or retina. But he did want me to come back in a month. At that appointment he noted that I had changes the way I saw color and something else I can’t remember in my left eye. He kept asking if I had any numbness and even after I said that I hadn’t, he said that it might take 10-15 years to get a diagnosis but he thought that it was the beginnings of MS based off what he saw and my symptoms. Less than a week and a half later my numbness started and has been a daily occasional ever since. I had actually completely forgot he had said that until I went back through my notes about my appointments and symptoms. When I saw that he said that and I looked up MS, everything I have been experiencing just clicked.

      It sounds like you do have some symptoms of MS. Whether it is MS or something else, there is a long road ahead, but you are not alone in this! Please feel free to let me know what the neurologist says on November 5th. Also, let me know if you have any more questions!
