Michael have you heard the new Jarrett Deer Head Inn 'The Old Country' CD?? I think its absolutely fantastic - he was on amazing form that night.The version of Everything Happens To Me has to be heard to be believed! Enought to keep you busy for quite a while.What you are doing (and doing better than anyone else) is SO important.There seems to be a very negative attitude towards Jarrett from some younger jazz musicians (heaven know why) which i cannot understand so your work is absolutely vital.

Thanks for the transcription, Michael. Nice of you to share! Love Keith but his Americana blues folk technique was much more on display in the amazing Koln Concert. I'm sure most could agree this is NOT "the most beautiful two minutes of music" on the planet, but pleasant enough. As far as this predominantly blues/folk/gospel style, Elton John (for example) has far better mastered such. Listen to 11-17-70. Keith's inside the piano technique here is intriguing but hardly expanded upon. The Bach section is nothing special but pleasant enough. Develops into a mish-mash of styles, then repeats on a loop for about a minute before opening up some space. Again, starts rather interestingly then suffers from repetition and lack of anything too original.

Keith is so emotionally expressive and so loose creatively. Other recorded versions of him playing Heartland are filled with strikingly different moments. In general he seems to have maintained an unusually high level of integrity as an artist throughout his career, always going for something meaningful, sincere and remaining supremely committed to the art of improvisation. I also love that he was never afraid to be beautiful in a tender kind of way that many seem to avoid. In my opinion he mostly managed to resist falling into that show business entertainer trap that many fall prey to as well. Also, this a terrific and easy on the eyes transcription as usual! Thank you!
