It is interesting to read who did what when. Who (which musicians) hid people in their chateaux, who escaped to America and how, and how (if)did they get back after the carnage? who did and didn’t sing for Hitler when he sent his “invitations” to perform for him. Thank you for listening! It is beautiful, isn’t it? I’m usually enamored with singers’ older voices in general-so many more experiences under our belts by then. Nice layers of meaning. Ahhhh. When you add the mastery of Gerald Moore…what could be more magical? Ahhhhhh.

I thought of you when I bought it! I thought- - I bet Andy’s going to like this. Glad you do!! Such a deep soulful voice he has! It’s from a wonderful old record dealer in California who has “retired” (but she will never really retire). ❤️

Isn’t this a lovely one!? Henry is less than 2 feet out of the frame in this video. He is napping under the table. He likes to be under things😊 I’m glad you liked this one.

@@marylittlefield9091 It‘s good to hear that Henry is fine! Our dogs also loved to rest under tables etc. - or on the sofa. Under or up were their preferred choices. 😊 Btw, I like all your uploads! I do not always comment, but I enjoy the music gratefully! Right now I have to catch up on a lot of posts, because I was gone for a while. But your channel is among my regulars and favourites! Please cuddle Henry for me! 🐕 Warm regards! ❤️

Isn't this just the loveliest tune ? So melodious. This is an early electric recording by the Victor Salon Orch but they recorded it too, acoustically, in 1924 - which is the copy I have. Check out too on RUclips the British recording of this song by De Groot & The Piccadilly Orch.

Sing Not To Me, O Beautiful Woman (Aka: Sing Not To Me, O Maiden Fair) Sing not to me, O beautiful woman, Your sad songs of Georgia; They remind me Of that other life and distant shore. Alas, They remind me, Your cruel melodies, Of the steppe, the night, and moonlit Features of a poor, distant maiden! That sweet and fateful apparition I forget when you appear, But you sing, and before me I picture that image anew. Do not sing to me, Beautiful woman, Your sad songs of Georgia; They remind me Of that other life and distant shore. Alas, your cruel strains Remind me Of the steppe and the night, And the moonlit face of my distant beloved.
