Fishing live alwevies for trout on one of the NYC watersheds, we steadily get more action throughout the day as the wind picks up going into mid day. We end the day with a couple killer, long drifts with fish after fish doubling and even tripling up. The big pay off for the day resulted in a beatiful 27" trout and lost another right after that, that seemed to be of similar size. All in all, an ...

this was May 16, 2021, right in the middle of an epic 5 day stretch. This may be one of my favorite shore fishing days in 19 seasons. Could barely keep a line in the water for hours with 2 doubles and a triple on hogs all before 930am. Couldn't ask for much more.

Which of the NYC reservoirs?
Is that state land
Believe so but not positive but its public land near where it meets private land on the other side, staircase pool if your familiar with Salmon river.
@FishingwithPhillips I'm not to familiar. I fished undrr the bridge lol that's all I know. Caught my pb tho. Its my profile pic

Well done dude. Tight lines
probably dead in a day ! use a dehooker and never take the fish out of the water that fish from the catch to handling was stressed ,swam away but most likely died !
Thank you Jeremy, I pull this up and watch it every now and then. Nice to see Harry happy doing what he loved.
I’d love to go there with someone experienced! Hit me Up I’m from the 518.
What part of the Hudson River is that you guys caught some huge fish, way to go!!!!
Zig rig?
Nice Catch ‼️
If you were going to setup a perfect combo for live bait herring fishing big stripers from shore in the hudson would you go braid or mono mainline?
If your in the perfect spot mono
can you show a video of rigging the live herring on the circle hook
when was this filmed dosen't look too crowded for that popular spot?
can you show how you are rigging the live herring on the circle hook?
awesome thanks for sharing this spot! what is the earliest and latest you have caught fish here?
Where are you guys fishing on Reservoir? The Quarry and Coles Clove were my favs. Great video.
Thanks for sharing this. Great tribute to a very special guy.
I’ve never seen an okuma spin so hard
Me neither, but you see the size of that hog 😳😳😳
Buy a lantern 😉
What reservoir is this?
Pepacton
How deep did you go when fishing these trout, what size weight were you using? Also some solid browns!
The summer time sawbelly fishing is pretty simple overall. Its mainly fishing above the summer thermocline and up. These fish came off a 30ft down line and 30ft 15g slip bobber. We'll have lines from 15 -30 but i spend most time in 20-30. Will go up to 40 or so on occasion. These lines i use 1/2 oz and i like to troll them around varying speed. can be done on anchor but i dont think its as effective and sucks anchoring deep as 150ft.
Also want to add when trolling bait around the lines will be shallower. Line angle varies id say up to 65 degrees which puts you at about half the depth of the line you have out. So depending on my speed ill lose 25%-50% depth per ft of line out. I'll take pauses and speed up and switch it up.
@@FishingwithPhillips I live in Downsville, glad to see the fish gets back. After the big flood in 2011 number of fish drastically decreased.
You can hear his heartbeat.
nice video...question- I see you have the Okuma Avenger reel, what size and how do you like them?
that particular setup wasn't mine but the avengers do well for the application. This was an abf 30 and the baitrunners set and engage plenty loose enough, and the drags seem to be smooth enough to not be an issue with light line. I usually run 4-6 lb leader. i would recommend for the price, they're a cheap way to get a few bait setups and they'll take the beating.
@@FishingwithPhillips Thanks Jeremy, I bought a 30b of the last gen and trying to get the newest 30b is difficult...i am embarrassed to say that is it is all rigged on a 7 foot medium ugly stik ready for that exact application BUT time has not allowed it...was going to give it a few test runs and pick up 2 more for my other bait rods if it shined. Tight lines!
@@jonathanlozier4329 rods wise my min is 7ft but prefer closer to 8 usually medium light or light. OR 9-10 UL or light action noodle rods. Overall i like the noodle rods for handling a big fish on light line and staying hooked. Plus if you got10ft rods on opposite sides of the boat, your downlines got about a 24ft spread between em.
Nice fish footage subbed!
thanks, back at ya.
Nice
Where is this place? Thank you.
Is it possible to give address sir?
This is near Kingston NY.
@@rifathahmed9371 No, we have enough people fishing here.
What town ?
When was this recent.?
May 16
HELL YEA. very nice fish man
Gotta fish with you sometime man. 🤙
Fuckin epic
Was it released?
Nice work! You guys got some rather large balls to be out there in those lol.
U guys need spot lock , nice with the paddles though lot of obstacles to navigate
I have navionics for way points and general location. We fish under anchor mostly, if not on drift naturally with the current, so no need for spot lock. Anchor is setup for quick release for both emergencies if needed, or letting loose and taking the sleigh ride on a fish. Current was extra strong this day in this particular spot and my bouye wasn't enough this time around. I've added additional flotation since.
Getting it done out there. 🐠
how far south brother?
Saugerties
@@FishingwithPhillips awesome fish man hope you get a bunch more! tight lines!
I seen you catching big carps and I really like it and I was just wondering where do you catch all those Carp and where is the best place to catch? Please let me know thank you!
In all honestly just about any spot on the tidal hudson is loaded with trophy carp all year. The farther up north you go the better. From Catskill north is probably best over all
Very nice tribute Jeremy. You need your own fishing show on TV. See you on the river soon.
That's awesome and from a boat ramp dock no less! Big girl is loaded with eggs!
Nice 👍
This was a wonderful tribute, thank you.
