Nice capture of the Millennium M Set! That’s extremely rare for a M Set to go on the Intercity line because M Sets only go on suburban lines like the T5, T2, T3, T7 and T8.

When clean the 86 class look fantastic in their original candy livery. The numbers on the side were originally stainless steel held in place by rivets with white self adhesive numbers on the cab fronts. The red grill next to the cab was removed as it was found that too much water was being drawn by the traction motors blowers into the inside of the loco. There's narrow channel in each vane on the grill which trapped water but mixed with brake ballast dust and sand from the wheel sanders it filled the channel and set as hard as concrete so the narrow channel couldn't perform it's role. The red and silver grill at the other end of the loco is the air conditioning unit for that cab. The other cab has it's own separate air conditioning unit. The last 86 class to be repainted in candy livery before the whole class was painted into Freightcorp blue was 8642. In railway service the 86 class in candy livery were always grubby because the railways didn't have the right detergent chemicals to clean them properly. The railways only had alkaline detergents which were great for removing oil stains but no good for washing electric locos. Late in the candy era the railways got acid based chemicals but it was too late for all the dirt had worked well and truly into the paint and couldn't be removed. The 86's were much cleaner in the Freightcorp Blue era for they were washed with Oxalic acid which comes from rhubarb leaves which is why you can eat the stalks but NOT the leaves. Oxalic acid easily penetrated all the dirt and brought them up nice and clean. Oxalic acid was also used on diesels which suffered from brake and ballast dust along their side and ends giving the paintwork a brown shade.

V13 once gave me a 7-tone horn show at Tascott. Because of that it's one of my favourite V sets :)

I saw it hauling some SCT wagons at Campsie the other day. Massive Patrick Portlink moment lol

a real dusty v set I will say but that one is my favourite train V 6 keep up the good work 👌👌
