Love the Finding Nemo grounding reference haha.
He's fabulous!
Thanks for the video! Do you know if you can order the backup pump? In case that one fails?
I've definitely been that College buddy who has peed in your pit
vinegar will remove build up. I am not sure what it will do to the pump
Hi, this was super helpful. My sump pump recently clogged in the pipe, I'm guessing due to the build up. Can we use vinegar or CLR in our sump pump pit to clear it out?
Just scooped a salamander out of my pit. 😛
Thank you first time owner of a sump pump
Great video…thank you!
Good video. I understand with the shop vac. Kind of hard to carry that shit up the stairs though.
put vac in window well, open window, send hose sections to pit. vac is now 2/3 way upstairs.
Have the same one ,there the best
"If you didn't watch my video that I haven't made yet" 😅😅😅
Hey Jordan, nice demonstration on the insides and how it works. How often is it typically recommend for a septic tank to be pumped? Also what is the typical lifespan of a regularly pumped septic tank?
3-5 years on tank pumping. Some techs use a sludge judge. We have clients that fill their tank with trash, cigarettes, wipes, triple ply toilet paper, tampons etc in 1 years time, and others who wipe their cast iron pans out with a paper towel prior to washing them. Ive seen modern concrete tanks in our area last less than 10 years. Older concrete tanks prior to additives to reduce production costs etc still in ground from 1960. Typically 20-30 for fiberglass or plastic.
thanks for this video.
EXCELLENT!
Very informative, thank you so much
Are you sponsored by Michelob Ultra, LOL. 🤣 Good info.
I was hoping a few tips on sump pump maintenance. I tried to clean the impeller and the darn pump - as soon as I removed the 3 long screws - came apart into 5-6 pieces and oil all over the place. Of course the manufacturer no longer supports a 3 yr old sump pump and finding a 9.23 viscosity dielectric oil and replacement seals is mission impossible. I have a 1/2 hp Ridgid iron cast sub pump and is a spitting image of the one in this video but Ridgid no longer supports its pumps. I will look into Wayne pumps but only if they support their products.
thanks!
You are welcome! Thanks for the support
Please do more homeowner 101 series. I really like these and just discovered your channel. What are your thoughts on flushing sediment from your (electric) water heater? Some say "do it," some say "let sleeping dogs lie." FYI, I have well water at my house.
Bro we don't care about all the other bs ....how do you clean it simple wtf
Really great information, should I let the hot water from my furnace drain into the sump pump pit??
Thank you!
I really liked this video. Cleaning the sump pit in my new home right now. My main pump failed. Replacing it with a Zoeller pro pak 98 with battery backup.
Thanks for the video Jordan. My sump pump was sounding an alarm. My main pump died. Back up is still working thank goodness. I just ordered the Zoeller 508/98 propak. Your video was very helpful. The new pump setup just arrived.
Solid information
Exactly the video i was looking for. Just ordered this kit
I’ve watched a couple of videos on sump pumps but this is the only one that stuck. Michelob Ultra, Finding Nemo, you really got a way with keeping peoples attention. Thank you so much 🙏
Nice video. To bad it stopped short. Health hazard information is what I was looking for
I hope there's a part 2, this cut off at a pretty dramatic moment!
Thanks for this primer. I pried the lid off the sump pit, checked to see if it was working by lifting the float, and then spent several hours cleaning out the pit and clearing the pump of world class gunk - absolutely epic gunk. And now it is working again! Thumbs up from this 67 year old woman homesteader.
excellent work
Very good illustration. Thanks for braving the various gases for us!
no problem! most of the time im down there with glue and primer too. any questions feel free to post below.
Curious what your opinion is on the bacteria I heard a lot about. GreenPig for example. I have been using it and seems ok. Seems like we don’t need to pump it with less solids. Curious how reliable it is without having to check it every so often.
all the bacteria a septic system needs comes from your stomach. Additives are a waste of money. The only caveat is if you use a lot of bleach and harsh chemicals for cleaning, that will kill off the natural bacteria in the tank
I bought a home 2 years ago and the septic was a field but a new mound system was installed. I have a family of 5. We use a lot of water. How often should I have it checked or pumped?
Depends upon how large the first tank is and how many tanks you have as well as if you have an aerator. First tank if 500 gallons 1-3 years MAX
@@SepticSystem I believe it is 500 gal. I know it has 2 tanks. I have 4 of those covers. I’ll have someone pump it this summer. Thanks!
how to fix pump if it's humming?
its stuck in on position. replace asap
Such a great video, thank you!
Aww...I was watching and you disappeared at the end! Sorry you are not still putting up videos. This is good information. Thanks!
Great video, thanks for the info!
Appreciate this video. I'm going under my house today to make sure I just need to unclog the weep hole or replace the check valve. My sump pump will not shut off. It is draining water but it seems the float switch is faulty. So now I can inspect more completely. I have a maintenance appointment set but not until February. Need to do something now.
Hey I love your videos I think we would hit it off I'm into stuff like this I just subscribed to your channel
Informative! And, if you watch at double speed while drunk, hilarious.

This is great! Thanks for your help and advice.
Thanks from Wondertucky, Il
lololololol I say that too!
Love this guy great information had a beer can in the sand I wish in college all teachers thought classes this way
Thanks for the vid! My basement stank for the last 2 months, figured it was a blockage to the sewer or something so called a plumber. As I was clearing the work area for him before he arrived, I discovered the sump pump had somehow tipped over so hadn't been working for most of the summer (Luckily a dry summer!). Pit and pump were covered with a half inch of stinky goop, explaining the stench. Cleaned it all out then stuck a hose in the pit and filled it up several times to flush the whole system, back in business and saved a plumber visit :)
You must have a pedestal pump ?😀
good work sir!
Thsnk you for explaining how a Sub Pump works xnd maintenance requirements for a single girl like me. I am always worried and nervous even my Pump goes on but, I now know it's working fine. I have to replace the discharge hose outside though, so I'll work on that! From Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
Hi this model doesn’t have the WiFi Notification right?
No it doesn’t have wifi capabilities for this one
