The Sod Rod Won't Move! | Fixing the John Deere X300
You know, a $0.64 part caused 45 minutes of frustration!!
Since my late father-in-law's lawn tractor had a flat, I figured I'd get it fixed, remount the wheel back on the axle, and away we go. Well, when I work on projects, nothing ever goes as planned.
Come along and see why one part caused an hour of frustration and cussing.
If you find that you need the axle shaft key, the Part Number M82401.

I just installed the same electric anode rod this year on our 12-14 year old hot water tank. Didn’t know about such and purpose. Used a Ryobi 18v Impact 1/2 inch wrench to remove, came out very slick with no tank movement to bust water or gas lines. Only had about 8 inches of a 4’ anode rod when removed. Time will tell if it makes tank last longer. Good luck on your competed project!

Have an AO hot water tank ready to install brand new from plumbing supply store . I replaced the anode tube tank empty and not hooked up yet makes it much easier and brand new tank should last for years to come.last tank never checked the anode rod and had rotten egg smell when taking hot shower we have hard water from the water company
Its a part win. I had sulfur smell and switched to the corro protec. It got rid of most of the sulfur smell but not all of it. If you open the drain of your water heater and drain some water out into a bucket you may smell some sulfur . The lasting fix for me was to set up a flow based peroxide injection system that injects to about 3 ppm. That completely eliminates the sulfur smell but it's expensive, like $ 600. Also, I've heard you can turn the setting to 135 degrees and that also eliminates the sulfur smell.

I had considered getting a tankless water heater but, for only two people, I am not sure if it is worth the money.
@@ericbrenner690 Over time that may pay off better as you're only heating the water you use. There won't be a continuous energy loss like there is out of a tank water heater.

College we drinked keystone light, today i drink keystone light.
i hate how they bury that under insulation, i got a new one and it stunk so bad i had to switch anode rods for one of those electric ones, and there is ALOT of heat and pressure in those, if its not sealed perfect it will leak pressure and or water...i recommend overdosing with tape i used like 5 wraps and 5 more above it to cover the entire thread...AND used pipe dope...still hope its enough to hold the pressure...also if you ever have trouble breaking anything free, youre probably going the wrong way...always go the right way, BUT sometimes tightining it before loosing it WILL break it free...
I've had mine for almost a year now and it hasn't leaked once. I only used the thread sealer and that's it. No leaks!! 🤞

I will say where I live I did not have any issues with the water for a few months and then I noticed the water discolored with an odor. Had nothing to do really with the anode rod just the location
My water is VERY iron rich that comes out from the well. I basically had a company come out and re-drill my well because we first thought it was mud making its way in. I know about discolored water. LOTS of iron out salt.
