    There was one time i had to submit 40 reviews in four hours and i gave myself a treat, walking in beautiful weather after i completed it. I made efficient solutions and gotta walk! Dopamine and me were happy. But i have easily burnt myself where i need two weeks to recover. I am working with my PCP, psychiatrist and therapist to assess if i have it. When i get super mentally drained i mix up my d & g's and disassociate. Sound is a killer when i am mentally drained too. I stim by rocking back and forth, rubbing my palms, tapping my leg. I love rain sounds and dark rooms when i can decompress. I love lavendar, blueberry, and pastels. They are calming.

    OK before I even watch this, I want to see how relevant this is to me stating this comment before the video continues for a reason I absolutely 100% suspect I am a high functioning autistic, but I was also diagnosed as a child with combined type ADHD so let’s see if the autistic aspect combined with ADHD align with me. I also am diagnosed with dyslexia and audio processing disorder, so let’s see how many notes can you? I would love to hear tips for someone that is not in an office job. For example, I am a bedside nurse in a busy hospital. I have things changing and coming at me from all directions throughout the day, and it’s really hard to organize my day. Time management is a huge struggle in this environment! I typically end up staying an hour or more later than my coworkers just to finish up the charting that goes along with my job. The ADHD part of me loves the constant change, but the autistic part of me can get overwhelmed very easily.

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 9 дней назад

      That sounds incredibly challenging, especially in such a fast-paced environment like nursing! It makes total sense that the ADHD side would enjoy the variety, but the constant change could feel overwhelming for the autistic side. One thing that might help is breaking tasks into small, manageable chunks during the day and setting mini-deadlines. Maybe creating a simple checklist or using time-blocking for charting at specific intervals could help reduce the end-of-day stress. I’d love to explore more tips for non-office jobs-thank you for sharing your experience! 💙

    Hello. In 2017 I woluntarily got tested for ADHD, as I suspected I had it. The mental specialist, who was about 58 years old, just got out of University with her degree, diagnosed me. She concluded that I got Aspergers Syndrome, so that excluded me having ADHD. Because it is impossible to have both, she told me. One excludes the other. Now I am confused.

    • @Kexeessen
      @Kexeessen 12 дней назад

      Excluding one for the other was standard until 2013. Then a new ICD (or was it DSM?) was in place and from then on it was finally possible to be diagnosed with both. That's also why there is so little research on AuDHD, because it's still "young". But the person diagnosing you apparently didn't know much about that, or was told "the old ways" at uni...

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 9 дней назад

      Thank you for sharing your experience! I can understand why you'd feel confused. It's actually possible to have both ADHD and autism (now referred to as being on the autism spectrum, including what was once called Asperger's). Many people have a dual diagnosis of both conditions, even though older understandings may have suggested otherwise. I encourage you to seek a second opinion if you're feeling unsure. Sending you support on your journey to understanding yourself better, and thanks so much for watching!

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 9 дней назад

      Yes, that's correct! The DSM-5, which was introduced in 2013 in the U.S., allowed for dual diagnoses of ADHD and autism, and many professionals around the world reference it. The UK uses the ICD (International Classification of Diseases), and even the older ICD-10 allowed for both conditions to be diagnosed together. The more recent ICD-11, adopted in 2019, aligns with the DSM-5 on this. So whether in the U.S. or the UK, it's now understood that someone can have both ADHD and autism. Thanks for sharing this important context, and thanks so much for watching!

    Very good advice. I like to compete against myself, and do most of my job when I’m pressed by a deadline. By my mid-twenties, I figured out that I had to eat the elephant one bite at a time. I also found that I had to speak the command out loud, like a magic spell. It’s easy to be totally overwhelmed, so I avoid that at all costs.

    The reason I lost my college scholarship, after years of working hard to get there. ie: Four courses to study for, and I sat there, trying to decide which was most important. Hours later…had studied for none. I knew it was wrong, but couldn’t stop.

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 13 дней назад

      I'm really sorry to hear that, and I can totally understand how overwhelming that kind of paralysis can be. It's so frustrating when you know what needs to be done, but your brain just can't seem to pick a direction. That internal battle is exhausting. It must have been heartbreaking to lose your scholarship after all the hard work you put in to get there. I’ve heard others with AuDHD describe similar struggles, and it’s definitely not about a lack of effort or care-it’s that executive function roadblock that gets in the way. Have you found any strategies or tools that help, even a little bit, with that decision paralysis? Your story is a powerful reminder that these challenges are real, and I hope you're able to find support that recognizes that. Thank you for sharing this-it’s such an important thing for people to understand.

    Those are all excellent suggestions. I actually have the perfect AuDHD job. I create digital maps of the real world, and my attention to detail, data collection methods, need for order, etc., all work together to help me create a near perfect product. Bonus: Jobsite changes often, so I never get bored. Hours are very flexible. My teammate is a robot, and my coworker’s job is to bring me water, because I work without breaks. Downside: I’m much slower than my peers. I can’t readily adapt to change. I often have negative interactions with the public, because I can’t read intentions. (People are not always nice, and I can’t tell, until it’s too late) Another positive: My job is very rewarding, and money doesn’t really motivate me as much as that feeling of accomplishment does. Another negative: We live in poverty, with no benefits, and I’ve worked at the same place for over two decades. I don’t like change.

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 13 дней назад

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It sounds like you've found a job that aligns really well with your strengths and interests, which is amazing. I totally relate to how rewarding it can be when you're able to create something of high quality, and your attention to detail is such a valuable skill for digital mapping. It's also great that your work brings you that sense of accomplishment, even when money isn't the main motivator. I hear you on the challenges, too-especially with adapting to change and those difficult interactions with people. It’s tough when others don’t understand or appreciate what we bring to the table. It sounds like you've really persevered, though, even in the face of obstacles. I hope there's a way that either your employer or community could offer more support, so the negatives don’t outweigh the positives. You deserve to be recognized and compensated for the incredible work you do. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment!

    Hypersexuality for me usualy occured when i was stressed, especially after i started a business. I began doing drag and going to gay clubs and started having orgies and ending up in dark rooms and having risque sex. Very dangerous. Havent done that in a while as i dont have the business anymore. But it almost gets me from time to time but i dont engage in the impulses. My advice is dont watch porn and do some exercise or even try to sleep when you feel hypersexual.

      That sounds great, I'm glad you can manage it at least now. But in your case, you actually got some temporary closure to the urges, recklessness aside. Me personally, I haven't had any sex since my last and most serious (5y) relationship ever, which is, almost 2 years ago. The stress and some of the meds I take absolutely destroy me arousal wise. And the fact that I can't seem to make any progress in finding a temporary or ongoing sex partner (not interested in serious relationships anymore, I don't think I'll ever be husband material). And every time I push myself to try again, I get rejected (or demoralised by perceiving it) and fall even deeper down the loneliness and sexual frustration hole. RSD/ADHD and being hypersexual are a deadly combination for me. And right now, aside from mustering courage to phone up a call lady/paying directly for sex (which I find terribly unfulfilling), I don't see how I'll get out of this predicament.

    • @RussBlake80
      @RussBlake80 3 дня назад

      @@robertstan298 just don't worry about sex. I don't give 2 shiz. I got ADHD and hypersexuality does kick in sometimes. Just get rid of the urge with a quick visit to the toilet. Do not watch porn, do not fantasise. And focus on normal daily activities. Enjoy hanging around with work colleagues and try singles nights or karaoke bars, or bars that have live music every so often to open up the chance of meeting someone. I feel for you. I was very messed up until I stopped worrying about what everyone else has and seems to be doing and stopped caring so much about my sexual needs and wants. When it happens it happens until then I'm fine. Happy to be alive and see the sun come up every day.

Videos, like this one, guide me, and provide direction. Rejection was always the rule, and it just made me try harder, which caused more problems, until I finally just gave up trying at all. Communication is my current focus, and I hope to be physical with them in the future. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Sensory issues are common in both ADHD and Autism, but they’re not present in everyone, or they may show up in different ways. It’s important to remember that both conditions exist on a spectrum, and no two experiences are exactly the same. You’re not ‘making it up for attention.’ Seeking clarity and understanding about yourself is valid, and a diagnosis could help you feel more grounded in your identity. If you feel that seeing a professional would bring you peace, trust your instincts. A good therapist will listen without judgment and work with you to understand your concerns. I am AuDHD and I have 2 different form of hyper focus, the first one, that I call "Hyper mode", is the classic hyper Focus and consume me completely full immersion acquiring a lot of information in a single event for a particular topic until I reach a good level of knowledge; the second form is a very intense and dangerous form that I call "ultra mode" and this form of hyper concentration is really extreme. I can use only for very short period of time and consume a lot of energy, I use in a critical situations like when I am in dangerous or I need complete a task under the Deadline and there is no other option. Ultra mode can be very useful but the stress is huge. When I am in Ultra mode I can perform very well multiple tasks in short time without errors, but I need days to recover from using this Extreme form of Hyper concentration.

      Thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate the way you’ve articulated the difference between 'Hyper mode' and 'Ultra mode.' It's so interesting to see how hyperfocus can manifest in different ways for people with AuDHD. It sounds like 'Ultra mode' is a powerful but double-edged sword-super effective for critical moments but also very taxing. I'm curious, how do you manage the recovery after using that level of intense focus? Thanks again for adding this perspective to the conversation

      Hi Peter, I cover the 10 signs throughout the video, with a bit of context for each one. It’s hard to summarize it all here, but I talk about things like sensory sensitivity and hyperfocus. I think you'll get the most out of watching the full explanation! Thanks for commenting!

      Social chameleon syndrome - masking in social setting then totally drained. Amplified hyper focus - so consumed in your latest passion you forget to eat or sleep. Amplified sensory overload - sounds feel louder, lights brighter etc Emotional intensity - speaks for itself To do list paralysis - can't start working on list, overwhelmed Social interaction difficulties - interrupt or don't interract Stimming and multitasking Time blindness Special interests with hyper focus Executive function difficulties - difficulty planning and setting schedules then frustration when plans don't happen ❤

    Thanks so much for your video, its so validating and answers so many long held questions ive had about all the contradictory parts of myself. In your opinion, when seeking a diagnosis, does it make more sense to pursue and ASD assessment first or an ADHD one?

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth 27 дней назад

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad the video resonated with you and helped answer some of your questions. In the UK, the process can depend on your local services and whether you go through the NHS or privately. If you’re more affected by social communication or sensory challenges, it might make sense to start with an ASD assessment. If focus, hyperactivity, or impulsivity are the bigger concerns, ADHD might be the better route. Keep in mind that waiting times for both can be long through the NHS, so it might be worth discussing with your GP to explore which diagnosis will be most helpful to pursue first. Going private is another option if you’re looking for faster results. Wishing you the best on your journey! Thanks again!

      @oscarbenetti314 Thanks for sharing! It can be really tough to manage deadlines and exams when things don’t seem to come together until the last minute. You’re definitely not alone in that. Have you tried any strategies or tools to help with focus or time management? Sometimes breaking things into smaller tasks or setting up a structured routine can make a difference. It might also be helpful to speak to someone at your school or college, or even a medical professional, for support or advice. Keep pushing through, and remember to be kind to yourself during the process-you've got this!

    Before I was diagnosed with autism I got tested for adhd. It was a series of tests. Puzzles and memory games. They told me I don't have adhd because my attention was too good. I think they were wrong. Could I have been hyper focusing during those tests? Are there other ways of finding out if I have adhd? :(

    • @ClearPathMentalHealth
      @ClearPathMentalHealth Месяц назад

      Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s definitely possible that hyperfocus could have played a role during your testing. Hyperfocus is a common aspect of ADHD where someone can intensely focus on something they're interested in, sometimes masking other ADHD symptoms. When it comes to diagnosing ADHD, attention tests are often combined with self-reports, interviews, and sometimes even reports from others who know you well. This helps create a more complete picture, as ADHD can affect different aspects of life in various ways. Testing can be tricky because it’s about more than just attention; it’s also about how your brain processes information and manages tasks over time. If you still feel that ADHD might be a possibility, it could be worth seeking a second opinion or talking to a mental health professional who has experience with both autism and ADHD. They can help explore your concerns more thoroughly. They should use a variety of assessments, including self-reports, interviews, and observations over time, to get a more complete picture of your experiences. Your experience is important, and seeking the right support can make a big difference. I hope you're able to get the answers you need and the understanding you deserve! ❤️

      @@ClearPathMentalHealth Is it also quite telling that Ritalin works miracles on me? I had access to it for a short while. I had a girlfriend who was diagnosed with adhd and she gave me her Ritalin. With Ritalin I could do EVERYTHING! Every little thing that I would put off forever, I would just do it immediately. I could conceive in my mind all the steps in a task and focus intently. It was pure motivation in pill form. Without it I have little to no motivation, unable to start tasks or starting them but never finishing, stuck in indecision, can't remember what I have to do, poor time management, getting distracted etc... no point listing it all. It's unbearably frustrating that there's something that works SO well but I can't get it anymore :'(
