What does redemption mean?
Просмотров 24День назад
When Jesus died for you He didn't pay the price for you to go to Heaven. He paid the price for you! Jesus redeemed you from sin. In this message Brian explains what redemption means from Ephesians 1:7. He also uses an illustration to help us understand the power of two little words sprinkled throughout Paul's letters, "In Him" or "In Christ." What does it mean that we have redemption "in Him?" ...
Can I Stop Sinning?
Просмотров 5321 день назад
Jesus died so you could be forgiven of your sins. But Jesus also died so that you could stop sinning. Walking in holiness is a million little decisions. The way you get out of a sinful habit is the same way you got into a sinful habit. Every decision is directional. Every day is a million little decisions to obey Christ from the heart. Doing so will increase the fruit of sanctification in your ...
What is Justification?
Просмотров 13Месяц назад
Everyone will stand before God and everyone has an eternal RAP sheet for which he will give account. But didn't Jesus die for our sins? Is so, what happens to our record? This message discusses the doctrine of justification as revealed in Romans 3. What is justification? How did Jesus' death secure our justification?
Why Did Jesus Die for Me? Reconciliation
Просмотров 25Месяц назад
Jesus didn't just die for you because he loves you. One of the reasons He died for you is so that you may be reconciled to God. How does the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reconcile us to God? What does it mean to be reconciled to God? How does this reconciliation effect our relationships? This message looks at verses on reconciliation from Romans 5 and Colossians 1. A clip from Prison ...
What's so Amazing About Grace?
Просмотров 15Месяц назад
Grace is amazing but it is not automatic. Many people know the words to the song but have yet to access saving grace. What is grace? Why do we need grace? How does one receive grace? The answers to these questions are in Romans 5. As we discover the answer to these questions it also helps us answer the question that is the concern of this series, why did Jesus die for me?
No Salvation Without Substitution
Просмотров 10Месяц назад
When Adam sinned we all sinned. When Adam sinned we were all doomed to die. But I wasn't there so how can that be fair? Romans 5 explains the marvel of God's sovereign wisdom and grace in setting up a system where one man's decisions can impact everyone else. Why? Because if one man can sin and all the rest become sinners, then through one man's life, death, and resurrection, sinners can be saved.
Don't Leave out Love
Просмотров 452 месяца назад
Love makes all the difference! Whether it's a home or a church you can have great facilities and prosperity, but when there is no love it amounts to nothing. 1 Corinthians reminds gifted people not to leave out love. And yes, I brought some toys to church for this message :).
The Real Thing
Просмотров 402 месяца назад
The Spirit-led church is a manifestation of God at work in the world as He empowers His people through spiritual gifts. The cheap knock-off brands of the church are sanitized versions of idolatry where spiritual movement is nothing more than the manipulation of man. How can you tell the difference? The answer begins in 1 Corinthians 12:1-3 as we become self-aware of our propensity toward idolatry.
Test the Spirits

The information in 1 John 4:1-6 is a game changer when applied to every facet of your life. You can't win the game if you're playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess. Test the Spirits. What is influencing your decisions making? Who is influencing your children? How do you make decisions as a church? Purely material solutions won't work in a world that is both physical and spiritual.

How to Be Happy
Просмотров 83 месяца назад
Everyone wants to be happy. God is concerned for your happiness. But happiness does not come by "getting" but by "becoming." In Galatians 5:16-26 the Bible shows us how the Holy Spirit transforms our lives from the wasteland of centeredness to a virtuous walk with God.

    I watched this earlier this morning but as I was reading Proverbs today I came across this footnote in my study bible. I figured I'd come back and share it. Proverbs 15:29 "No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. . . We have many organizers but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere." - Leonard Ravenhill

      That’s really good. Found this today in my reading of a Samuel Chadwick book on prayer. Goes along with what your quote @rodney8075. “The world will never believe in a religion in which there is no supernatural power. A rationalized faith, a socialized church, and a moralized gospel may gain applause, but they awaken no conviction and win no converts.”

    Its sad when Churches cave to the pressure of culture and go against The Word of GOD. The bible is very clear, women should not teach, or have authority over men in the Church. Stick to the word of God. No women Pastors, no women Elders. Women can lead children and other women or be deacons, lead worship. If that is not what you like then you have a problem with the Word of God. This is the curse pronounced in Genesis 3:16

      I suggest my short and free essay on Deborah. Men and women are perfectly equal spiritually. She was a pastor, according to the scriptures. This is how the Judges are described. God ruled Israel through the Judges. A Judge was the most important spiritual leader of that time period according to scripture. When a Judge died the people went back to their sinful ways. To say a woman can be a Judge over Israel, but a woman can't be an elder in a small church, just doesn't make any sense scripturally.

I'm not saying anything against you I've hered so many people in different places complain about how long there pastor went on. I want to holler "You Needed To Listen! It's interesting how biblical tithes are referenced as a financial principle when there's no such thing as a biblical, systematic tithe that was received from earned wages, New Testament or Old. And it's evident money was in ready use during those times and paid as wages (Haggai 1:6). Monetizing the tithe was man's idea after the bible was written and the ceremonial and civil ordinances that facilitated biblical, systematic tithing are now obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). The book of Malachi was limited towards the nation of Israel (Malachi 1:1) and the narrative was further narrowed towards the Levitical Priests (Malachi 1:6, 2:1). And again, the tithing indictments in Malachi 3 had nothing to do with money. Only consumables such as produce and livestock were accepted as systematic tithe deliverables. There is no biblical promise of a blessing for paying money to a religious institution, nor is there any biblical curse for not doing so. God isn't a mob boss or a slot machine. We are free to give, not bound to pay. Blessings in your giving.

      Curious, what percentage of your income do you give as an offering to the Lord?

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 2 года назад

      @@BrianBranam I think it makes more sense to give as prompted rather than track any percentage of earned income. The percentage doesn't matter. Could be 80%, could be 2%. And how do you define an "offering to the Lord"? By what you put in a church collection plate?

    • @BrianBranam
      @BrianBranam 2 года назад

      @@markb7067 The principle of the tithe is throughout the Bible, even in the NT, and referred to by Jesus in Matthew 23:23. Our practice is that the %10 is the beginning of budgeting and giving. The tithe is given out of obedience and the offering (above the tithe) is given as a freewill offering, joyously, generously to the Lord.

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 2 года назад

      @@BrianBranam At no point in the bible is the tithe referred to as a principle. All biblical, systematic tithes were received as consumable items, not as "gifts", but like a tax. So biblical, systematic tithes weren't "gifts", they were required submissions of consumable items, specifically purposed. In Matthew 23:23 Jesus is chastising the Pharisees, not commending them. They were carrying out the least of what was required through the ceremonial ordinance of tithing under Mosaic Law, again not money, only mint, dill, and cumin. Jesus refers to the legalistic practice of the ceremonial tithe as less than a spiritual, moral matter. There's no biblical reference to Jesus or the Apostles ever paying or receiving a tithe. Biblical, Systematic Tithes = required submissions of consumable items under Mosaic Law Offerings = Gifts, either monetary or otherwise per the discretion of the giver Giving is central to the Christian worldview. Tithing isn't a Christian doctrine. We're encouraged, not encumbered. 2 Corinthians 9:7. Blessings in your giving!
