Van Halen's Jump - Performed on an Oberheim OBX8
Просмотров 56 тыс.2 года назад
One take, rusty as hell, mistakes and all. The OB-X8 was recorded in mono via an Avedis MA5 Preamp, into Pro Tools. A liberal amount of UA's EMT250 Reverb was applied.

I did my best to recreate every part verbatim and get as close to the original mix/sound as possible.

Full song up front. Slow-motion breakdown of pre-chorus and solo at the end.
Outstanding!
RIP Eddie Van Halen
Awesomeee
Nice
Excellent, would love to see Dreams next
Sounds awesome! Would love to hear it with a touch of portamento in the right hand like EVH did. That’s the extra part of the magic of the track.
👍👍👍
The actual version has a more chorusy, “layered” sound. Wonder if anyone knows exactly what VH did in the studio???
Great but too LFO makes it sound wobbly
Cool hearing it on an Ob. Sounds great. Thanks for the clear camera angle, it’s helps. I’m learning it for my band. I should have learned it back in ‘84. I’ve got a MODX7, hopefully I can get it close. I’ve got to sing it too. Yikes, wish me luck.
There's a zip in the original. Could it be a compressor? You can hear it best in the intro F chords. It's a punch. Maybe a layered kick?
Salut my friend super music super video subscribe subscribe ...
superwave also soun similar
Fat!
time 3:11 proof that it is live👏👏👏👏
So cool!... Nicely done!
Its just a little too base-e, I think, but still makes me want one...

The best since the real guys......
Great performance !! did try this one to but made some mistakes
Excelente
It's just one of those songs that HAD to be written. You hear that riff and just think, Duh!
I dont have an Oberheim but a bike and with that bike I cycle past Eddy's parental home every day here in Amsterdam and when I jump with that bike it gives the same sound
I'm gonna sell my OB-6 for a bike to get that tone you were talking about....
Eddy's parental home was in Nijmegen...

Excellent job.
Not good. Too much LFO. Not enough punch.
Totally perfect!
SUPER BIEN EJECUTADO !!!! IGUAL AL ORIGINAL. PODRIAS DECIRME QUE NUMERO DE PRESET USASTE ? GRACIAS
That's it to the tee!!! Nice work!!! I've been playing this song since 85. If only youtube existed back when I was a kid then I'd be more impressed to see how those parts were played. Lol
Dude, it's so authentic even contentID algorithm picked it. Great cover.
thank you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Dearly departed Eddie Van Halen would be proud of you.
He'd jam along!
Eddt Van Halen QEPD
Great
This is great way of learning to play the keyboard parts
There are notes missing at the end of the prechorus.
you are probably thinking of the second keyboard line. there are two throughout the song.
great but a little fast.
That is Fuk'n Awesome!
Great. I enjoyed that.
This was inevitable!
Sequential Prophet Rev2 factory setting is equivalent to this...
I can’t remember…was Van Halen’s cathedral built in Amsterdam, Utrecht or West Hollywood by the Whisky a Go Go?
Anche quasi simile non mi sembra l effetto reale
Bought the album in 1984 and bought the OB-X8 now. Excellent playing - even the snare drum is close to Alex‘s very distinctive snare sound 👍
Thank you! That background track was a phenomenal amount of work and it’s really nice to have somebody appreciate it
can you do The Cure in Japanese Whispers ?
Love it!
Very nice! Takes me way back!
thank you!
My god, I need this synth in my life.
