    Thanks, this video helped me a lot. I have a problem, by testing function number two described at minute 4.18 my led does 3-3-2 and not like yours which does 3-3-3. Could it be that the TPS is faulty?

    Thanks, your 240 self diagnostic tests was most informative. Didn't understand how to perform the input tests. Now I do. That brings me to a question regarding my 92 240 wagon, 3.2 system. When testing the TPS sensor I get a code 332, not 333. Checking the idle switch gives a code 332. Any ideas? Also, re: your next batch of mead. Pasteurize the honey. There's a lot of stuff in there that can inhibit proper fermentation. Remember also that a low attenuating yeast should make for a sweeter mead than will one with high attenuation.

    I have the same car, and I have a problem that I can't seem to track down. It's running really badly, (chugging and very little power) The engine code says it's lean at part load, so I replaced the MAF sensor, the fuel pressure gauge, and I've already replaced the in-line fuel pump and fuel filter. I'm thinking about replacing all the vacuum lines, the coolant temp sensor, and the in-tank fuel pump. Do any of those sound like a likely solution, or do you have any thoughts on what the issue might be?

      Check for an exhaust leak between the catalytic converter and the pipe from the manifold,(feel for air coming out with the engine running don't touch the exhaust it can get terribly hot) if air is allowed to get in the car a will run nasty like lope at idle and smell super rich once warm because the O2 sensor will be reading the wrong mixture and think its running lean, also try to clean injectors they could be clogged does it run bad when its cold?

    • @mxslotkin
      @mxslotkin 10 лет назад

      To go along with wagonman, I had a bad intake gasket that made it run pretty poorly. Pretty easy job and the gaskets not expensive. worth doing.

    • @LordNelsonsTrousers
      @LordNelsonsTrousers 10 лет назад

      You also might want to check the ECT for the fuel injection, this car has two one for the temp gauge and one farther back for the fuel injection under the no. 4 intake manifold runner if it goes whacky that would mess up you fuel air mixture, mxslotkin has a good point with the intake gasket spray around where the intake meets the head with carb cleaner when he car is running listen for a change in rpm if the rpm goes up you have an intake gasket leak, and at idle and part load intake vacuum is highest so it would be sucking in air from where its not supposed to be leaning the A/Fuel mix out

    Use a centrifugal advance distributor instead - most of the earlier 122's had them. No need for a vacuum advance distributor.

    Good to see someone using Bosch spark plugs in their 122. People rave about NGK's, like they're better than all others. Truth is, NGK is no better than any other brand. Bosch W7BC's (copper) and WR7BP's (platinum) work great in these cars. Even Champion L87YC's work fine in these engines.

    He ended up replacing the check valve on the main fuel pump. Even though the residual pressure checked out when we made the video, that was, apparently, the problem. He hasn't had the hot start issue occur since he replaced it. We can only assume that the check valve was sticking intermittently. Good luck with your Volvo. Keep it rolling!
