Hey, i'm from Trinidad and Tobago, here in the caribbean when rain is falling, the humidity is very low, when it stops raining, the humidity rises again, brake fluid is hygroscopic, thus i would recommend testing your brake fluid with one of those pen type meters that indicates if the brake fluid is saturated with water...it has a green, orange and red led...best to always have brake fluid measuring in green range at all times, just having the master cylinder cover off, the fluid is absorbing moisture from the air...many a time i have had brake fade and even fluid in the calipers boiling over with my vh commodore

Much easier to just go buy cheap Strut/ bump stop / boot , top mounts, you can pay $250 for a decent Strut or $400 for darn good 1 , or you can get one from ebay new for $120 , Personally i always pay around $265 /$310 for very nice strut & Polyurethane Top mounts . Ps : always replace boot ^ definitely replace bump stop.

A new brake pedal rubber would be nice just to make the job perfect.

That’s the good thing about paint. Any mistakes, you can sand out and start again. Let the runs fully dry out ou a week , sand back, but not through and buff it up. 👍

Would be a tribute if ya had the original v8 in it instead of the injected v8 which the vk Brock never had.....

However trimmed the doors did a crap job.

Prepped correctly, the painted chrome won’t peel off. Another option is having them powder coated. I realise you have to work to a budget, but, you are only doing the car once, so spend a few extra bucks and finish it the way 6ou want. With that said, things like the chrome trim can be changed later down the track when the car is on the road. 👍

Hey Trav, its coming along nicely.. Just an FYI if you want to see what it looks like in the black handles and Trim, instead of paint, just wrap the Trim it in Satin Black Vinyl wrap.. you can pick it up quite cheap and you can't do any damage... if you stuff it just peel it off, and you still have your nice original Chrome one underneath.. Good luck with the rest of the build.. :)

All the black parts are chrome just painted. You simply sand and prime the chrome like any part and the paint will no flake off if prepped correctly.

The small opening for the mirror means it’s an earlier door. Most probably VH if it didn’t have pins to sit the side moulds

Now see, I wish the Dukes would have had more hard cold starts like this. I remember a few scenes where the General flooded, really liked those. One was with Bo Duke when they were trying to get away from the jail. It flooded in front of the courthouse if I remember right. The other was with Luke when he was trying to get the General out of the way of something, can't remember.
