In this video I am giving a (brief) overview of the maintenance items and upgrades I'm performing on this engine before swapping it in. Always a good idea to get regular or upcoming maintenance items out of the way while the access is optimal, instead of pulling the engine a second time for a glossed-over repa...

K-Swap Prep: Picking Up a New Heart for the CR-Z!
Просмотров 7715 месяцев назад
One of the main reasons I bought a CR-Z was because it looked sporty and fast - now the real work begins to build a car that lives up to those expectations! We picked up a K20Z3 engine and transmission from an 09 Civic Si at a relatively local salvage yard. With a few repairs and upgrades, it will be ready to power the CR-Z! We still have lots more parts to collect and fabricate for the swap, b...
Honda CR-Z Noblesse Wing Restoration and Installation!

One of the big aesthetic body mods finally arrives today - the genuine Noblesse carbon fiber rear spoiler! I have always loved this particular style, and when I saw this particular wing on a Japanese auction site at an incredibly low price I had to snatch it up. Obviously, a part like this with a low price tag comes with a few flaws, but in this video I'm going to show you the various issues th...

In this video we are going to take a quick look at the removal process for the rear bumper cover of a 2011 Honda CR-Z. This is a fairly quick and simple removal, and I've also made a couple notes regarding the rear license plate lights, lower bumper reflectors, and removing the diffuser from the bumper cover itself

Some good progress!
I'm honestly pretty amazed by how (relatively) simple and easy this swap is to do. Very exciting to see it really come together!
Just waiting for the start noise🎉
Saaaaaame🤤
Love your video
ayeeee good shit man
Wonder project!
Was just staring at my cr-z saying your engine swap is coming.😊
Following this project very closely, thanks for all your efforts
I am glad the information is helpful, of course there will be even more in the next one!
Hey. I also have a 2011 cvt crz. Im annoyed as it keeps on jerking from 5km/h to 20km/h. After that it gets there are no jerks. Ive done gear oil change coils, spark plugs, injectors changed and tested fuel pump as well. It was giving a pressure of 45 psi. Plus recently im getting this po171 code. Changed O2 sensor and checked for any vaccum leaks on the intake side. Do you know whats the problem and its solution?
this channel is a god send for car mechanic noobs like me that fell in love with a used CRZ that turned out to have quite a few more problems than found at initial inspection
Awesome man your doing a awesome job
holy smokes, the youtube algorithm has blessed me once again
how come no k20a? actually just curious as that’s what i’m gonna do but im in new zealand and everything is jdm so its quite different like we dont have k20a1 ,a2 ,a3 its all just a
Power/torque specs aside since stock for stock they are very close (USDM at least), 2nrs jumper harness we are using is specific to the K20Z3 since it is the most compatible electronically - very similar in terms of CANBUS and all that. I wanted to keep things as plug-and-play as possible and craft a hypothetical "If Honda made an OE CR-Z Si" build. However, Abdul's guide I mentioned/linked covers a ton of info on the sensors and wiring which makes a DIY harness very accessible if you want to get most any other K engine to work. He also has a RUclips channel that may have even more in-depth explanations.
@ ah i see, well my plan is to pickup an accord k20 or integra dc5 k20 ( rsx in US) and just put everything in my crz, your vids are quite interesting and really keen to see yours done, that makes sense tho about the wiring
@@jackpulley541 sounds like a great plan, again check out the forum I linked above, there's a lot to dig through but he covers using an older transmission and I believe he even used a modified DC5 shifter in his setup. Thanks for following my project and I hope to see more info on yours someday too!
This was supposed be the project for my 2013 CRZ but my my 07 Miata I recently acquired took precedence over it but hopefully later this year I’ll get on this project.
Hey, at least by then I'll probably have the entire video series uploaded! :D GL with the Miata. One of my buddies has a K swapped Miata and it's a blast.
@@HondaGarage_ID 2.5 swapping my own and @vtech academy has a full video on the crz k swapping which is where I got the idea to do this and the reason for purchasing my crz.
Plz make a video of you changing hybrid battery on the Z there's no good videos out there
Check out the Part 2 of the K Swap series, there is a section in there on disconnecting and removing the hybrid battery in the trunk.
@cr.zpirit thank you bro
Theres a plastic cap covering the inside of the boot look. Pop the cap and there is a manual release lever for the boot lock. You can access the cap & lever from the inside, although its easier with your head under the glass to lift the boot while the lever is released.
What's the website, please
How much was the cost for everything?
Hi, could you give me the length of the axes thank you
These videos are awesome as not many people are making them for these cars! Current owner of a ‘11 CRZ as well that I’m about to do a front end rebuild on (suspension, control arms, steering rack and pinion). If you have any tips or advice on the steering components it would be greatly appreciated!
I'm assuming the CRZ shifter will work with the Z3 trans? Same direction actuation of the cables?
Are you using the Hybrid Racing shifter made for the CRZ or a different model?
The shifter is HR's CR-Z specific model, however the cables do have to be different from CR-Z cables since the lengths and distance from bushing to bracket are different. A custom transmission bracket may be required... Will dive into that in part 4 or 5.
Sweet intro and outro!
Good
Thank you for that video!
Would have loved this video before I tried doing this myself, but glad it's here for everyone else!
That was fantastic! Thanks!
Have been following your videos on the CR-Z from the start and find them so interesting and informative, Im amazed at your knowledge and attention to detail. I have here in the UK a 2014/15 CR-Z S Sport on 48k and I intend to keep it as close to original as possible apart from maybe upgrading the headlights and head unit to an up to date satnav with CarPlay. What I find most interesting is you showing me the guts of this car. Can't wait to see the next instalment.
Good job bro...waiting for your next video..this will help alot for kswap 👏👏
Lmao, I thought my Euro spec CRZ GT '11 had no glovebox light. Turns out it's burned out. Helpful video with the list of all the bulbs needed and I'll definitely do the trunk light mod. My version doesn't seem to have rear seat lights, has belts instead.
Watching, with much interest. Thanks for showing us the way!
Would swapping a RHD(JDM) unit and LHD be the same ?
@@iambillyngu there are some differences since the steering column is in a different place - exhaust and brake lines need to be rerouted mainly. I'll put some more info in the start of the next video 👍
Did you check out @A.QPerformance? Bro knows the swap better than anyone on the forum in my opinion
oof
Love the amount of detail you go into, you're a legend!
Excellent content keep it up!
damn bro im so excited u dropped this gem couldnt wait
When i tell you ive been patiently waiting for this update.. THANK YOU basing my personal swap off these
Awesome! Hopefully this guided series makes it super easy for you to follow along. I'm excited to post more progress soon. And keep in mind (at least in the later videos) that there is a lot of flexibility with swap parts - brand, new vs. used, OEM vs aftermarket, there's plenty of ways to configure a swap to your specific needs. As always if there is any info I leave out or you want more details on just ask!
Hey i really want to get to know car anatomy and i don't know where exactly to start
If you're talking about knowing what/where all the different parts are, it just takes personal experience! Essentially everything I have learned has been from hands on work or personal research in service guides and other YT videos over the last few years. Many things can be deduced by what they are connected to. In fact a lot of the hoses and such I mentioned in the video, I didn't know what I was removing right up until I started pulling them and seeing where they went. Many of the fluid systems (brake, clutch, coolant, etc.) have caps on the fill tanks so you can easily identify the specific system they go to. Start following the tubes and you'll end up at more components for those specific systems. Other than that, just take some time fixing or replacing minor maintenance parts and making mental maps of everything you've explored so far. It is important to remember that not every vehicle has the same parts in the same location/orientation/style, so it's better to understand the general way things connect and interact rather than trying to look for the same size or shape of part every time. I've been working on my own vehicles for over a decade now - experience comes with time, but don't get intimidated by how much there is to learn! Have fun with it :)
@@HondaGarage_ID salam brother and much appreciated!
I'm trying to replace the original subwoofer but I don't know how
hey man i would love a led rear reflector video cant figure out how to wire them up
Friend help me please, the IMA appeared on the dashboard and the car does not turn on, now I bought a new battery and it turned on, but it only served for a couple of hours and it no longer turns on, and we measured the alternator voltage and it is charging well, yes The 12v battery is new and the alternator charges well, and IMA appears on the dashboard, is it the same reason? The electric battery fan? 🙏🙏
The 12V battery in the engine bay and the hybrid (IMA) battery are two different systems, if you have an IMA issue replacing the 12V battery in front will probably not change anything. You need to get a code reader to see the specific IMA fault code you have, it will describe in more detail what the problems are. The CR-Z does not have a traditional alternator, only the IMA motor on the engine to recharge the battery system.
What's the part number for the Subaru cargo light housing?
It's in the video description.
@Danteska90 thanks, I missed it!
Neat. I have been wanting to get back into Hondas and this same project car and swap has drawn me in. Looking forward to following along.
How do you change the side mirror lights 😭
Should do the 51 r battery mod works great
Hey there! I have my CRZ and I would like to get a new engine like yours.
Where did you get those headlights ?
My hybrid fan turns on loud at random times, even after turning the car off for a bit. Recently it happened and finally gave CEL P1448. I cleared the code and it hasn't happened again yet. Does this sound like it just needs the fan replacement?
Yes, sounds like the fan could definitely be on its way out and use a replacement. Check the ducts and filters and make sure there isn't debris or blockage as well.
On the same boat as you with mine. If you could share the link for harness that’d be awesome!
We got the harness for this specific engine from 2nrs.
are u going turbo with the build!?
Where could I buy them ?
