Hi Colin! That's a great solution using the magnets! It's always good to be able to make the wiring easily accessible, as none of us are getting any younger! I'm also looking into trying to make it easy to get to wires and things like servo decoders so I can reprogram them! I'm currently thinking of using Velcro to hold small wooden boards, but those magnets may be a better solution! Can you share what type they are, and where you got them please? Good news that your sister is now in rehabilitation! Those guys can work wonders! All the best, Ian, P.S. Forgot to say that your bag or servo cables arrived! Thank you! :)

Hi Colin, very busy, I see. Nice demo of diy ethernet cables, and I love those little plugs you put on the end of the wires, making it all very neat. All the best. John
@wimbletrain Hi John great to hear from you, hope you are well. Colin
Absolutely mind boggling Colin. It is quite obvious your really enjpying yourself, long may it last.
@Chris-BognorRegis Hi Chris hope I didn't boggle you to much. Are you going to the International n gauge weekend after next. Do hope you and your wife and the dog are good. Colin
All good here Colin. Hopefully be going, if so it will be on a Sunday.
@@Chris-BognorRegis We're all going Sunday
Nice work Colin. The magnets are a great idea as are the plugs. Happy Modelling
@monsvillerailways5736 Hi, Thank you. Colin
Hello Colin Good news about your sister wishing her a speedy recovery at the rehabilitation hospital. Nice progress on the layout Lighting upgrades on the upper section makes a big difference. Nice tutorial on wiring a Ethernet cable. Take care all the best
@ModelRailwayShed Hi Deano hope your well and family. Yes the lighting is great. Colin
With wiring like this, the mostly white wire is the predominant. The one mostly colour with a fleck of white is the second of the pair. Difference between T568-A and B is that one scheme is conventional and the other has what's known as a network twist.
@hotdogpilot6319 Hi Andy, Wow, you know some stuff, that's why your live streams are interesting. Colin
Hi Colin - must have been frustrating when the issue arose with the helix - main thing is you've got it sorted. Good to see progress on the layout. Cheers Euan
@thegrowler-blackwoodngauge Hi Euan it was a bit frustrating after all the testing. I can't have one bit of track not to work were it's hard to get to, but it's good to find it now. Colin
Greetings Woodthorp International and hello Colin 👋 That is hopeful news on your sister 🤞 fingers crossed that the physio can do their magic 😇 Excellent tips on wiring too 👍 we all end up wit dodgy knee's 🦵 in this hobby 😳 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️
@Wickford_N_Gauge Hi Paul and hello from Woodthorp International. It is hopeful with my sister. I'm hoping doing the wiring this way will help. Colin
Sorry to hear about your sister Colin, you're making nice progress on the layout my friend
Great video, I just got a Lodi-Con....I can't find a English manual though? Any help would de appreciated.
@@reded23 Hi it's a great handset still learning myself but if I can help my email is on my profile on RUclips. Colin
Hope things improve with your sister. Tough times. Nice update with the track. Sometimes a distraction is all you need. Happy Modelling
Hi Colin, so sorry to hear about your sister. Will be thinking of you.
@@Chris-BognorRegis Hi Chris thank you. Colin
Hi Colin, I am so sorry to hear about your sister the trains can wait family is more important. Lots of bits in this one but the speed checking line looks good and the extension for longer running must make running your trains so much easier, it will be great when you start laying the track as in the plan bet you cannot wait. Cheers Robert.
Hi Robert it's very exciting that I may be starting the real track work soon. there's so much to do. Thank you for your kind comment, hope your feeling well. Colin
Best wishes to you and your family. Very nice update and thanks for sharing. Dave
@@davestrains6816 Hi Dave thank you for your kind words. Colin
Good morning Colin! I've always wanted to have a go at speed matching a couple of locos! It's interesting how similar locos with similar motors can behave differently! Take care! Ian

First and most importantly, we are very sorry to hear of the sad news regarding your family. We have been there, both Joyce and I. You have our dearest sympathies and empathies. Great update on the layout in spite of the sadness outside it.

Hi John iTrains is very powerful software, I'm learning all the time, I love that you can do so much with it and still run the trains manually while other trains are run automatically by iTrains. Colin
good update on the train layout lots nice set up in shed thanks for the share on channel thanks lee

Hiya Colin you have a fantastic contorl system there my friend, you've done a great job on those rock faces, the trestle built bridge is awesome
@@DiggerEvans Hi Digger that is very kind of you to say, my thoughts on how it would look are coming together. Colin
Extreme high tech going in there Colin! Epic work on the trestle bridge and all the scenics behind it. Don't envy you the work in in hand rails section! As you rightly say it's going to look spectacular when the loco's run around! Regards Steve
@@lynganddistrict Hi Steve hope your well. I made a little jig to help stick the post on and when there on I cut them with the same jig to the height. I do hope it's all worth it and it does look good. Colin
Great work Collin, amazing what a "wash" brings to the picture.
Hi Andy sorry that I've missed about 3 weeks of your Sunday live. I think RUclips was doing funny stuff and not telling me you we on. This week it did but my sister is in hospital and I'm running round after her. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to watch the video and commenting. Colin
@@collinsngauge5493 That's life Colin...
Good morning Colin! Ah, the joys of multiple monitors! You're going to have a fantastic control system to go with your fantastic layout! Talking of fantastic, wow, the trestle bridge is in! You must be so pleased! Cheers, Ian.
Hi Ian yes so pleased it's in. Now to get the rest of the wood on. No to get the big tv screen in. Colin
Just got a small Lodi system myself for testing, I think your not far from aswell
@@Llamberg.Railway Hi the first part of the layout is going to be America there are about 104 blocks. Japan will have less blocks but I hate to think how many England and Europe will have and so far I have 3 units to do 24 blocks. I think I will be buying them into the next decade 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@collinsngauge5493 I’ve been a long term Digitrax user but have found issues with loconet due to the fact my layout was rather large 240 points and 860 detection sections. I’m doing a major rebuild now so felt time to address the issues, I’ve been using train controller but am transitioning to ITrain because Lodi has full support for it were Tc does not.
Hello Colin! I hope you're well Wow the video system and the control is amazing. Great to see the bridge in place with the rocks now coloured. Absolutely amazing work 👏
@@ModelRailwayShed Very well thank you, tierd at the moment doing a big job for a customer. And trying to do stuff on the layout. Thank you for your kind comment I'm so glad the bridge is in for good. Colin
Wow the bridge looks fantastic
@@ngaugefouroaksstreetstatio6932 Hi Chris hope your well it's nearly there. Colin
Hey, Colin! What a brilliant video system you have installed. I guess an epic layout needs an epic video and control system! Very nice work on the trestle bridge... truly great!
@@ModelTrainOutsider Hi Anthony, Hope your daughter had a great birthday, all these thoughts in my head up to now are working, can I keep it up, that's a big can I. My goal is to live long enough to finish it, and the other is it to go into one of the model railway magazines.
Greetings Woodthorp International and hello Colin 👋 The rock face 🗿 looks fantastic behind the trestle bridge 🤩 well, you've always been the King of Rock 😉 Meticulous planning on the ITrain front 👀 especially when it comes to monitor's and camera's 😇 they could also come in handy for watching the football ⚽️ 🤭 It might be worth looking at British Finescale for code 40 flexible track for the check rails 🤔 as Peco Code 55 rails are the same depth as code 80, just buried in the sleepers 🔍 Best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️
@@Wickford_N_Gauge Hi Paul and hello from Woodthorp International. Sorry were about 3 weeks behind watching your fantastic running, I've got a big job on. And my sister isn't very well at the moment and is in hospital. I have been told that code 55 is a little small and even if it's the same size it shouldn't matter. Nice

Hello Colin, nice job👍👍. Greetings Gert
@@Miertreg1 Hi That's very kind of you to say. Colin
Hallo Colin, ich habe lange nicht mehr bei dir vorbei geschaut. Du hast sehr schöne und starke Lokomotiven🚂👍👍👍. Ein sehr interessantes und schönes Video. Viele Grüße Gert
Interesting deep dive Colin. I'm inspired to do something similar with my locos! :)
It’s the engine that pulls the train, surely😅
Hi I hope so 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Colin! Gotta love a pulling power experiment! There are obviously lots of factors at play here, such as the weight of the loco, whether or not it has traction tyres fitted, the steepness of the incline, the radius of the curves, the spec of the motor, the weight of each piece of rolling stock, whether or not the bogies of rolling stock are articulated or fixed, or using plastic wheels or metal ones, and whether metal ones exert extra friction from pickups... The list goes on! That big Challenger was amazing! It could probably pull you and the hairy controller up the helix! :) The couplers must also be good to handle the forces involved! I'd still be tempted to let the Merchant Navy haul the Pullman coaches, but only down the helix, it could then return lightly loaded for the next run! Cheers, Ian.
Hi Ian three are alot of different factors but fun to try them. The couplings are the knuckle one and all of them are the one's with springs in. Colin
With 12 Drivingbwheels you'd expect it to pull a lot Colin. 🤔😅 Great test though. 👍
Hi In modeling railway I take nothing for granted 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Colin, That is amazing how many wagons these tiny locos can pull up your helix thanks for showing us. Cheers Robert.
Hi Robert I can't believe how good they are. Thank you for watching. Colin
Great Loco’s!
Thank you
Thats quite a collection of steam Colin! The big articulated sure has some grunt.
Hi Jim it's growing slowly my steam engines, and that big one is amazing pulling power. Colin
Superb Coiin just Superb Demo of pulling power.
Hi Lord Al pulling a kilo of weight I thought was amazing and pulling it up a slope even more impressive, thank you for taking the time watching the video. Hope your well.Colin
Hi Colin, getting really interesting for me now as you are running trains etc. All the complicated stuff goes way over my head. Very interesting about how many carriages can be pulled, just goes to show you what a bit of friction on the wheels can do. That american train, wow that can really do some pulling, very impressive. Not done anything in the loft sadly but my collection for the layout is growing. Hoping to start insulating the loft very soon then I can get on with the layout. Lot os love to the two ladies in your life, hopefullyu see you all at TINGS.
Hi Chris and so nice to hear from you. And yes to see you at Tings. Friction can course problems but we have to put up with it. I'm whating a big boy but will 4 more driving wheels make a difference to how much it can pull in weight, it will be interesting to find out. Glad your collection is getting bigger. Teddy Bear was at the nursing home again on bank holiday Monday he made alot of people smile. Hope your feeling abit better every day. Colin
Hello Colin I hope your well I didn't know you had a collection of amazing UK Steamers. Really interesting to watch how powerful these little N gauge steamers are!
Hi Deano everything is good here with me, hope your feeling better my friend. I have had more things go wrong with steam engines, but all the ones you could see all of them have been fine all the time. In the pulling bit I'm happy what they can pull. Colin
very cool indeed
Hi Digger it was great fun doing it
Dizzy stuff Colin . but very cool running.
Hi Lord Al a bit like me dizzy 🤣. Colin
Really impressive Colin 👍
A different place to film
Too cool, Collin. That's brilliant!
Thank you Anthony
Wow Colin. That's pretty complex. Think I'll stick to basic linked circuits 👍😅 Happy modelling
Hi What's linked circuits 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Have a good day. Colin
Hi Colin! Looks like you've spent quite a while creating the track plan in iTrains as it looks immense! I still can't believe there's no function within iTrains to natively choose the track colour for each section as it seems like a massive oversight! I'm loving watching you get to grips with the software though! Keep up the good work! All the best, Ian.
Hi Ian hope your well. Interesting the more you do the more there is to see and do, it's not that hard to learn. I believe it's the wright way to go, I'm very excited. Colin
