How to effectively communicate how you feel -Difficult conversations are a must, here’s how to do it
This technique I was taught by my counsellor has helped myself and my other half so much in our own communication and communicating effectively with others in our lives.
Difficult conversations are uncomfortable and never easy. Being well prepared and knowing you can get your point across and help the other person understand the situation you experienced can be the most useful thing.
This helps to avoid the other person feeling attacked too.
Best of luck with your communication. You’ve got this!

Baby mama diaries weekly vlog - Messy house - I love co-sleeping - forest walk -7 month nap refusal
Просмотров 8921 день назад
This week we dealt with a lot of nap and bedtime sleep refusal from our 7 and a half month old. She’s going through a big developmental stage learning lots of new things as well as a change in how she gets to sleep - preferring motion such as more rocking and pram walks to sleep over just falling asleep whilst feeding. I think she might do better going down to two naps too. Which is fine, we’re...

    I so appreciate these real life videos. I think you look beautiful as you are, you don’t need to look any different for the camera. Some of us mums haven’t got that time to do the skin care routines, the makeup and well put together outfits. Your videos help me to be ok with going out in fresh skin and getting some much needed fresh air and vitamin D. I love when you show your house as it is, it makes me feel less alone when the washing piles up inevitably, the dishes are there, the toys are scattered. It’s real life. I also appreciate when you show when things don’t go to plan, like naps or early bedtimes because that is real mum life. I love how you go by your babies cues and go with the flow rather than setting routines. I have never been able to get a routine but baby is happy just giving me those cues to let me know what she needs. And lastly I love your attitude to motherhood and your self talk because i think it’s so important the way we talk to ourselves and treat ourselves kindly. Your videos are such a tonic for me and I look forward to each one. Don’t stop being you ❤ your such a wonderful mum and your helping lots of other mums out there 😊❤xxxxx

      @FeralandFamiliar wow thank you so much for this comment. I get hardly any feedback so you don’t know how much reading this meant to me. Sometimes you wonder if you get any returning viewers and how the videos come across to others/if it’s worth doing or not very interesting for anyone so you confirming that these are coming across as what I’ve wanted them to be - real and helping others feel they’re not the only ones is AMAZING. Thank you. Your words have really spurred me on to do more. I agree it’s better we see the real as it can get very gloomy feeling alone in the constant carousel of stuff to do and things to clean!! Thank you, it sounds like we have similar parenting styles. I think trying to have an exact routine every day can cause so much unnecessary stress, frustration and anxiety if things don’t go to plan so I’d much rather release that! I think the happiest parents do.. free flowing is definitely the way forward from my point of view.. and great if there is some natural routine but then at least it’s not so painful if there isn’t hehe! I can’t thank you enough for the supportive message, thank you for taking the time out of your day to write it x

    I have attempted a similar approach to yours many times; however, when the child is shouting and it feels like the world is ending, I tend to take shortcuts and switch to a more goal-oriented conversation. For example, I might say: "I think the best outcome for both of us is X, but now it seems the outcome will be different if we don't talk about it. From a third-person perspective, this is what I believe happened, and I note the negative implications for both you and me. Here are my proposed actions and modifications to our behavior that we can adopt to achieve the best outcome (X) for both of us. Please point out any errors in my interpretations or the stated facts, and if you disagree, propose alternative actions while explaining in detail how they might promote a beneficial outcome for both of us." Everything is recorded in case we need to double-check our statements, and this also encourages better behavior. This method is ideal when conventional approaches prove ineffective-or perhaps when my life is a mess, haha. Thank you for your video; you have the perfect voice for a podcast.

      @@infinityfabric thank you so much for your comment :) I found it so interesting that you’re coming from a place of communicating with a child. I hadn’t actually considered this as I use this for communicating in my adult relationships but I will have to have conversations about things with my child as she grows up obviously so it’s really interesting to hear a perspective from when you’re talking to a child :) really cool how you put just as much effort into that and helping your child understand things on a deeper level! I hope I can do the same :)

      @@Consciouslydani Hi there, thanks so much for your kind response! I realize I may not have been completely clear. Just to clarify, I don’t use that language with my child because she’s not old enough to understand it. I’m referring to my communication with my partner during those high-stress moments when our child’s needs make it challenging to find a quiet time to talk. In those situations, it's crucial to quickly resolve issues before they escalate further. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and your interest in my approach-it means a lot coming from you. Please excuse any confusion; English isn’t my first language, so my wording might sometimes be ambiguous. Thanks again for your kind words and for sharing your perspective!

      @Consciouslydani 3 часа назад

      @ ahh no that is my misunderstanding. Now I read your comment back I completely get what you mean :) that’s amazing that you’ve worked on how to communicate better in those high stress times as I agree the testing family moments need quick resolutions and can be really high stress. I know the feeling and we’ve only got one very young child so far! That’s also amazing that English isn’t your first language, I absolutely hate that I am not bilingual but I hope to one day learn at least one other language. Ah that’s ok! It’s so interesting to hear ways people work to communicate effectively as it’s one of the hardest things to do in life I think and yet can make life so much better the better our communication is and especially with our partners that they understand how we feel and us to them. Thank you for watching :)

    Hi Dani! Lovely vlog :) you should do a what i eat in a day or what my baby eats in a day - i actually put a curry in the slow cooker with whatever veggies i had on hand and a premade curry sauce bc of one of your videos & it was a hit! My husband is vegetarian so i love the veg content. I wanted to also say that your view on cosleeping is very refreshing. With my first, we coslept sometimes but she did well with swaddling and then even better with sleeping in her own space. I was also scared to do it all the time truthfully bc of personal experiences with SIDS. Now that I have an infant and a toddler, i am so sleep deprived that i do actually cosleep with my son - but bc he actually sleeps better that way! And so do i haha. So i think it definitely depends on your comfort level and your baby.

I will make more veg content, I used to be veggie but decided to reintroduce meat when I was pregnant and had to give up dairy.. but I’d like to cut right down again when I can manage more change in my life.. one thing at a time 😅 oh thank you re the cosleeping. They grow up far too quickly, there’s nothing like being surrounded by your most important people in the middle of the night ❤ I agree it all depends on people’s own situations and different things work best for different people! Hi Danielle! So agree with you about the trauma and grief there is in the world; I stopped watching the news some time ago, for similar reasons to yours; us becoming despondent and depressed, is not going to change anything-and you're right; mainstream media has a role (which it does not want to acknowledge), in inciting hate/anger/in it's binary representations of conflicts throughout the world. We have to focus on the good-the little story of Aldo, protecting your baby, whilst she slept, had me near to tears-so lovely! You live in such a beautiful part of the country and it's a joy that you share it so sensitively with us, through your photography. The courtyard was enchanting! BTW! your hair looked lovely after you'd cleaned the bathroom-you should wear it down, more often! love sue xxx

Since I had a boy, there are things that are definitely new to me still haha! The transition to 2 has been a little rough to say the least but it’s getting better as the days go on.. it’s sweet to see the two kids together and i can’t wait until my son is old enough to interact a lot more. Hi Danielle! You are a Mega-Mama! Your description of the rainy walk, the umbrella, the dog, your hair blowing everywhere, a teething Besty...had me wanting to run for the hills; the fact that you recorded when you came home, and seemed so calm and placid, puts me to shame; I think it's a bad day if I can't find a parking space!! Be kind to yourself-you are a lovely, gentle mum, and doing a fabulous job! Respect to you!! love sue xxx

      Hi Sue... ah thank you so much this is very kind. It was stressful but I have the mindset that if it's not something that's going to still be affecting me tomorrow I might as well release it and not let it control the rest of my day. I heard a good thing that said when you're in those types of difficult situations and you've just got to get through it, imagine your life is a comedy... it works really well! Helps you laugh at yourself and let it be instead of getting super frustrated. Oh not finding a parking space is so annoying... especially if it's making you late to something! Today every shop I wanted to go to was closed or had a sign saying back in 5 etc, you couldn't make it up! I had to laugh! And recorded the evidence which will be in tomorrows vlog! Thank you so much for your lovely words of encouragement, they are much appreciated. Dani xxx
