Death Crystal Mountain Guitar Solo Cover & Perennial Quest Outro
Hey, I wanted to revisit Symbolic and shoot a small cover of Crystal Mountain. While I was at it, I also wanted to add Perennial Quest outro section as it makes me emotional and oftentimes reminds me of Chuck's tragic demise. So this short video goes out for him, my humble tribute & guitar cover to Chuck Schuldiner, his legacy & Death. R.I.P.
I pre-recorded this audio in Ableton and used Archetype Gojira for the guitar tones. The backing track I used for Crystal Mountain: ruclips.net/video/hQtmOgFPnD8/видео.html

3 Gojira Riffs from Each Album | Top 21 Best Guitar Riffs

Gojira is one of my favorite bands for sure, trying to choose three riffs from each album was really hard as I could easily pick three riffs from a single song lol. Some of them are really powerful and emotional, and others, well, heavy and groovy as hell. Anyways, these are my favorite riffs/melodies, enjoy! What's your all-time favorite Gojira riff? The audio is pre-recorded by me. I double-t...
How to Record Guitar Cover Videos with Free Software [Tutorial]

Hi everyone, I wanted to create a video on recording guitars. I feel like this is useful for especially beginners and also intermediate guitar players. The digital world of audio recording can be overwhelming at first sight and can discourage some fellow musicians from getting into it. Furthermore, rock and metal guitars are kind of hard to get right without any experience. So that's why using ...

Hi there, I made a few thematic pieces of music in under 48 hours with no experience in this kind of concept or familiarity with the genres that I tried to pull off, which made the whole process that much more challenging. But I'm trying to do and learn new things every so often including; genres, techniques, instruments, or production side of things, pretty much everything music related. That'...

Hi there, for a couple of months I've been interested in composing music, especially for games and movies. Without having any prior experience before, I had a difficult time starting and finishing a song. But it was fun, and I think I'll keep doing different styles and genres, and keep exploring. This is the first piece of music I've ever done. It's inspired by Fantasy RPGs, which I grew up pla...

I tried to incorporate three different ideas that I had when I first listened to the drum track. Thanks for listening to the riff. I've recorded both lead and rhythm guitars and tried to mix them together. I've used Schecter Damien Elite Fr-6 for both guitars with Amped Roots amp sim paired with NadIR and the audio you are hearing in this video is pre-recorded by me. I hope you'll enjoy this on...

Picking one of the easier songs on their whole catalog still struggled with it big time lol. I'm not hundred percent happy with the result that I got either but at least I somehow tackled the challenge. I really want to cover many more songs from CoB but I doubt if I can pull it off in such a timely manner. Man, I am still getting emotional when I think about his passing away. He was and still ...
Bullet For My Valentine Waking The Demon Guitar Cover

Oh boy, when I find out that main riff is all down picking I was blown away, for all those years the riff that doesn't seem to be that hard quickly became a real challenge I will say that lol. Such a fun song to play definitely one of my childhood favorites and still is. Although I know pretty much all of their discographies I choose to start with this one hope I'll make more cover videos from ...
no magma 3 min 20 riff is sad
Great selection honestly, glad you showed love to inward movement
Thanks man, it was fun to play as well
I tune my guitar to Dropped C (A=448hz) for The Gift of Guilt. I find that tuning is more accurate. How do you tune your guitar for that song?
Umm I think it was just regular dropped C. Why you chose 448hz is it because of that tape effect thing(similar to the ride the lightning)where it slightly makes the notes sharper because it's sped up a little? .I'm asking because don't know much about that technical stuff :)
Great riff choices man! Also, the way you hold your guitar pick is wild! Misha from Periphery used to hold his guitar pick in a similar way, but he eventually changed it to a more "proper" technique after seeing how Jake and Mark use the proper technique. He changed it because the way he used to hold it placed limitations on what he could do. I believe you can find the video of him talking about that on RUclips. Anyway, sick playing man!
Thanks a lot man, appreciated it. Oh it's funny that you mentioned that, I'm going through a similar phase atm, I've recently injured myself after years of bad playing habits and I also can relate to that limitations cause I was feeling stuck in some aspects especially in rhythm playing. On my way to achieving that "proper technique" haha Cheers, thanks for the comment!
holly molly🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mann 🤘😎
wait so you record the video after you record guitar audio?
Yeah, like they do in the video clips, that's one way to do it, it works if you are going for a more polished and mixed cover. Or you can simply put the backing track or whatnot and play it in one take while simultaneously recording the video, keeping it more authentic and live-sounding with little mistakes or noises here and there. Both are fine it just depends on how you want to approach it.
Bro is responding to every single comment lmao great playing tho bro
Just as I did to yours haha thanks!
Backbone! Hits so hard
Yea looking back to it, I really dunno why I didn't include that one you're right haha
That love pick slide is so hard to get right each time.
Finding the sweet spot is the hardest but after you get comfy with it, then it becomes pretty natural I'd say. Thanks for watchin!
DAMN, you nailed everything, also the sound it's identical.
Oh thanks a lot, mate. Took some tweaking but yea I'm also happy with the result, cheers!
that riff in love is one of the most unique and sick riffs ever written
yea that one definitely slaps hard
That the art of dying riff is my faborute guitar riff as of now
Right on man! It's also easy to play and has a great vibe to it!
i love that love riff
Yeah, me too, so cool!
Yeah love is so underrated
This was awesome!!! I was so glad to see Where Dragons Dwell and Wolf Down the Earth, two of my favorites that are also the only two Gojira songs I know how to cover so far. As a mostly mandolin player, it of course sounds quite different when I cover them, but you absolutely CRUSHED these faithful covers. (Incidentally, Toxic Garbage Island is one I am currently working on!) Thanks so much for sharing! You got a new sub now, for whatever it's worth. Keep it up, would love to see you play live some day!!
Heyy, thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Yeah, wanted to include some of their more emotional and dynamic songs to make the list more diverse and representative of their discography. I'm glad you find your favorites in there too. Also, the mandolin is a beautiful instrument. I remember having one lying around in my home when I was a kid, and I liked it, but I lost interest over time for whatever reason. It would be interesting to hear Gojira riffs on a mandolin. You should make that happen and upload it, haha. Welcome to the channel! cheers
@@0secmusic9 You def get first dibs on listening when I get there, hopefully soon! I don't have any video equipment, but just got some good audio recording stuff, so the next step is a mini-lesson on producing I guess! :) (Though it's worth saying up front that I can't cover them note for note - between the speed and the ... challenge of translating them, I just try to get something close enough to capture the feeling).
@@TaeKwonHottie Haha, I'd be happy to. Just let me know when it's ready! Don't worry about the equipment and the note-for-note thing; just go for it when you feel like it. I'm sure it will sound good. Also, I think the note-for-note approach isn't that creative or engaging. Hearing something with a personal touch and a different style is always more interesting, even if it's imperfect or whatever, in my opinion. Of course, I can think of exceptions and other ways around it, but that would be my take on it:) rock on!
The Indians riff is a personal favorite of mine.
The outro riff reminds me of Remembrance, that's why I left it out. But that was a great one, for sure.
Indians is my favorite song, I love the vocals they are so aggressive and different from other gojira songs and stuff
Love is so crazy sounding i love it so much
Yeah, me too! It was lots of fun to play that one as well. Thanks for watching.
Where Dragons Dwell has probably my favorite guitar riff ever
Yea, It's pretty good \m/
WHY DID YOU CUT TOXIC GARBAGE ISLAND THERE 😭😭
Amazing picks btw
Yea, I never felt good about that one haha Thanks for your comment!
Rememberance reminds me of destroy erase improve. So godlike.
Oh yea, for sure dude!
how do i get my guitar to sound like THIS
I have a video where I show how I go about recording guitar covers. There you can see the method I use to get a good sound. For this one, I used Archetype Gojira and recorded guitar on two tracks and panned them hard left and right. That's the basic trick for getting a good full-sounding guitar tone(double tracking). Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions, take care!
@@0secmusic9 tysm, i really appreciate it man :D
The Link is the most underrated. Like straight death metal phase Gojira.
Yea, I'd also add Terra Incognita to that. Lots of great riffs on those records!
@@0secmusic9 Terra is great too but I feel like on Link you can hear there sound really taking shape but there is still so much rawness it ends up sounding like Morbid Angel half the time
@@mikesbadopinions9671 Oh, I see what you're saying. Yea, you can totally see their progression and development in that album, both songwriting and sonic-wise. Now that you mentioned it, not too long ago I made that same Morbid Angel reference to someone haha Cheers dude!
Plz do more bands
Hi, Dolce I've finally found some free time and currently working on Metallica stuff, similar to this kind of concept. Stay tuned for that, see you on the next one, cheers!
Dude, Fortitude one was so so calming!!!!
Yea, dude, it gives me a campfire-type of feeling, so soothing. Cheers!
Where Dragons Dwell is absolutely beautiful. Love that riff.
Instant goosebumps, for sure. It has a special place. Thanks for your comment, cheers!
I love the picks for From Mars To Sirius, but Backbones intimidating riffage is insane too! I also love the beginning bit of flying whales where it comes from that calm guitar to that heavier badass rhythm.
Backbone was my 4th pick, I choose Where Dragons Dwell over that one because it's special to me. Yes, that's also great, but it's so hard to choose, dude, even Flying Whales has more than 3 great riffs haha Cheers!
Where Dragons Dwell helped get me through some hard times. But I gotta agree that Backbone is absolutely killer, that's a song where the simultaneous riff + vocals combo just exponentiates both to higher levels. So rad.
Man, Chuck wasn’t just an incredible musician. He was incredible composer. Great tribute 🤘
Oh, definitely, he was so ahead of his time. Listening back to his records still sounds fresh. Thanks a lot, Soroosh!
@@0secmusic9 indeed. For sure dude :)
Damnit this was painful...nice job dude
Yea ikr? haha Thanks a lot, mate!
Legit covers and great tone on all songs! Can't believe you have such low subs dude! Keep up the uploads!
Thank you very much, I tried to get them all right as close as I can get, and good to hear that you've liked the result. I appreciate your kind words, mate. Cheers!
Backbone, Vacuity and the breakdown for Born For One Thing deserves to be in there but amazing list nonetheless!
Oh, yea, they're all bangers for sure. If I made this list from 5 riffs instead of 3, my life would be so much easier lol Thanks, mate, I appreciate your comment!
How long it took to get Rememberance right? It’s straight up mindfuck!🤯
Maybe a couple of hours. Honestly, if you only listen without seeing the notes, it feels harder than it actually is. Then I go from extremely slow to learn the pattern, and after memorizing it, I speed it up. And voilà! haha
Cool man! I learned about many of their riffs here for the first time
Hey, thanks a lot. Glad to hear that, dude!
2:30 Wisdom Comes was *sooooooooooooooo* indistiguishable from the original that i even doubted like "is this even him playing the riff?"
Haha, I appreciate it, mate! That's what I tried to accomplish, as close as I can get to the original, good to hear that you receive it like this. Thanks again, and cheers!
I'm happy to see Wolf Down The Earth on this list. One of my favourites from them, it truly embodies their sound, yet it's hardly ever talked about.
Glad to hear that! Yea, I also find that song to be a little underappreciated. Maybe it flew under the radar since other songs in that album are relatively more outstanding, idk just a thought haha
The way of all flesh is a masterpiece
Absolutely, my favorite album from Gojira 🤘
i think you should’ve done backbone instead of where dragons dwell but they’re both great in their own way
Yea, exactly, I just wanted to have a little variation in the list here and there with something more melodic and emotional instead of constant blast beats and chugs. Cheers!
@@0secmusic9 Yeah that makes sense
backbone should clearly be one of the mars to sirius riffs tho
Yea, but only three riffs :/ Sacrifices were made haha
2:30 morbid angel
Oh yea, definitely has that old-school death metal sound.
That was sick
Thank you, dude!
I am a simple man... I see gojira, i click...
Yea I can relate to that haha
What is the riff?😍
Hey, it was my entry for Bradley Hall's riff contest. If you want to check it out here's the link: ruclips.net/video/Tjxw6K8E0tY/видео.html Cheers!
Cool, well played. Ever listened to much of Michael Romeo's stuff? Mid-late Symphony X has a ton of creative heavy riffs with with his signature 16ths and 32nds hammer-on pull-off runs that I've always loved. Electric Messiah, Iconoclast, Serpent's Kiss, Inferno, Eve of Seduction, Underworld... I could go on.
Hey, thanks a lot, mate! No, not really, am I missing out on his work? I mean I've heard about him and Symphony-X but never listened to their stuff. Maybe I should check it out from your suggestions. Thanks for sharing this!
@@0secmusic9 The oldest 2 or 3 albums from the 90's are more neo-classical, but the songs I mentioned are from the later, heavier albums, which are my favorite. Yea, any of the songs I mentioned would give you a good idea of the riffs I'm talking about. Might not be your thing, but worth a try.
@@FifatlasHD Oh, I will definitely be checking out those. I also dig the neo-classical influence, I'd probably check both their early and late stuff. Thanks again!
Thank you to introducing me to some older riffs I would’ve never heard, also love the editing lol. Not to mention your playing is phenomenal! Earned a subscriber here man < 3
Oh, my pleasure, mate! Haha spiced it up a little with the memes. Thank you so much, it's great to hear that! Welcome and see you in the next one! Cheers 🤘
The American psycho clip LMAO
Haha, good old memes!
You thought you could use Papyrus in your thumbnail and get away with it huh????
huh? wdym lol
Wolf Down The Earth, sounds like it shoulda been on Terra Incognito
Hmm, I don't get that vibe tbf. What made you feel that way, is it a specific thing or just the general vibe of the song or something? I'm interested to hearing that!
Great choices! You represented the band and each album very well!
Oh, I'm happy to hear that, Yannick. I tried to encapsulate their discography in a short and precise format with guitar tones close to their original work. Thanks a lot for your comment!
"Wolf" instead of the back half of "Vacuity"?? Great playing throughout the video, their riffs are so fun an accessible.
Yea, Wolf Down The Earth's vibe is different than the rest in that album IMO, and I kinda dig that part, and since this is my personal favorite type of list, that's why I went with it. Thanks a lot, mate, exactly!
@@0secmusic9 Chuck's riffs in Death are really fun to play as well, if you haven't heard/learned some of those yet.
@@FifatlasHD Yess, mate, Death is also one of my favorites I know their whole discography. Speaking of Death, I shared a new cover of Crystal Mountain check it out if you want. Cheers!

Great cover! Very close to the original
Hey, thanks, Romario. I appreciate it!
Chuck's death is one of the greatest tragedies in the history of death metal. What a brilliant human being he was.🥺 Great job btw, ending made me so emotional. 🥺
Indeed it is. Never had the chance to met him or see him performing live, but still, it makes me so sad when I think about his passing. Yea, such a legend, dearly missed. Thanks a lot, and the same goes for me!🤘
