I have my beloved Kat Happy Crystal, she's important to my fanfiction, but she's become more like a plot device, which is funny to me. The fact that I can't write a character arc for her has kinda become the arc, except she already went through it and has accepted that she has no greater meaning, no destiny.

I definitely fell into the trap of making my OC an overpowered super-saiyan level character, my solution was to make him an antagonist and he immediately became cooler. This is especially true since that also gave him an arc and flaws the hero characters needed to exploit, and it justifies that he can be sadistic and edgy.

Exactly my friend I can tell your style is invader Zim or Jhonen inspired I used to be a big fan of Jhonen Vasquez I use to support him on Twitter until 4 years and 5 months later he blocked me for no reason but I realized he's not a friendly artist he just doesn't like his fans very much so I became stricter with artist like if they're mean to they're fans or a child messer then it's time to hit the road and find someone else and find greener pastures it was hard at first to move on I was pretty depressed and angry about it and blame myself for being attached to an artist because I had problems in the past with someone that made my time on the internet in 2017 a living hell but it wasn't my fault it was his fault because most celebrities are butts anyways and California is pretty much a hole in the wall at this point thats why I moved to a different cartoon community and made friends and found me a lover and I support a different artist who is much nicer and supportive of fans artwork and the cartoon I support now is called villainous and its from Mexico sometimes you have to go outside of the US to support someone better and have better luck in that community in the invader Zim community I was having the worst luck ever the luck became way worse in 2020 man that was such a god awful year for everyone including me

Something I haven't seen people talk about enough is how AI is using pictures from everyone it can(possibly even you) to generate it's content. AI uses training data indiscriminately from any source it can. If you have any pictures on the Internet(especially Facebook who sells their data to train AI) then there's a fairly good chance that your pictures have been used to train an AI model and that AI model has probably been used to make NSFW content without any consideration if the people used to train that data were consenting or even of age to consent. AI amalgamates pictures of you, your friends, your grandma, and even your kids to produce NSFW content.

Thanks for making this video I've noticed I should stop engaging with slop content, especially on Insta, but I use it for communication so I unconsciously start scrolling and I end up seeing the most heinous racist shit( I'm black ) that baits me into engaging and staying on the app and that's why they don't ban racists posts or content same with Twitter, but I've long since abandoned that platform. These apps prey on our want for strife and negative energy to fuel their algorithms and to line their investor's pockets and it'll just continue to make the world worse.

An excellent analysis of what's wrong with a lot of modern content. I'm not really sure what we can do to combat it at this stage - creators are incentivized to push out work as fast as they possibly can. But at a minimum, I can take steps to avoid consuming more of it (and already have, see the bottom of this after my rambling nonsense for a good way to avoid a lot of it). I've been saying this since I was a little kid: "If it's bad, why are you watching it?" I've never understood the fascination people have with low-quality, low-effort content. I've had so many people tell me that a movie is "so bad it's good!" or something is "so stupid it's funny!" but neither have ever jived with me on any level. Occasionally I'll enjoy a dumb joke, but I'll always prefer that dumb joke to be surrounded by interesting and thought-provoking characters, stories and higher quality jokes. I think maybe the best example of this is what Team Four Star did with Dragon Ball Z Abridged. Showing off how old I am here for a second, early abridging was full of one-off gags, referential humor, and dumb shit. Mostly stupid, low-brow comedy to get a cheap chuckle. Basically, it was all longform RUclips poops. But TFS laced their content with storylines, recurring jokes, and themes that made its characters and story something that was just as interesting as its source material if not moreso, and definitely something much more funny. I think maybe the WORST example of this is in Netflix's The Dragon Prince, which I think had a stellar first 3 seasons before jumping off a cliff and exploding. While it occasionally pops its head back up with some peaks and has just enough good content to keep me interested, there's been enough nonsense since season 4 that it went from what I expected to be one of my favorite shows of all time to something of very middling quality. I think it was in season 4 or 5 that they had a running gag of a character literally loving the smell of another character's farts. THEIR ACTUAL FARTS. The creative team behind this show spent several scenes on this instead of advancing the plot, developing characters, or explaining what happened during a very abrupt timeskip that happened between seasons. It was actually maddening, and is somehow only one of many really shit (heh.) decisions they've made since the initial 3 seasons. (Though for any Dragon Prince enjoyers out there, I will say the last half of the most recent season was absolutely excellent. TOO BAD THE FIRST HALF WAS A COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME DRAGGED DOWN BY POOR PACING AND WORSE WRITING.) Also, regarding using the tools you're given to avoid slop: Using the "don't recommend me this" or "don't recommend this channel" doesn't seem to do anything on RUclips. I hit those every time I see AI-generated art or AI voices and it KEEPS COMING BACK. It's infuriating and I despise that kind of content. But, there is a solution: RUclips has an option, one absolutely BURIED in submenus of course, to turn off your watch history. I HIGHLY recommend it. Now my history feed is blank, my front page is blank, and I'm only on RUclips for the creators I actually follow and the content my friends actually send me. There's still a recommended bar at the right, but it can't access my history anymore. It's relatively varied but it's not tailor-made to keep my eyes glued to this hellsite anymore, and I have been probably thousands of times more productive (and I don't think this is an exaggeration at all) with regards to the things that matter to me since I disabled my history. Highly recommend trying it. Edit: I'm aware this misses a big part of the "negativity" part of the discussion discussed in this video. I hyper-focused on the "low-effort" side of slop.
