Hello everyone! Welcome to The Science Behind, where we answer the wildest questions you've never asked. Today we'll be talking about the phrase you've probably heard at least once before: "It's so hot you could cook an egg on the sidewalk." My goal today is to discover if there is any legitimacy to that phrase. Can you actually cook an egg on the sidewalk? Is it safe? Why would any sane person...
I’ve wondered this, especially since they often live in the night when it would make no sense for there to be a light somewhere
Quality video and only have few hundred and subscribers keep up the good work!
This is super well made! Good Job!
They've actually recently figured out why they do this for sure just by taking a slow motion video. Insects use light to orientate themselves; tell which way is up and which way is down. They always oriente themselves with the light above them. When they fly past a lamp they turn their bodies so the light is above them relative to them, and they end up flying around in a circle forever, but from their perspective they're just flying in a straight line and they get really confused. Anton Pretrov made a comprehensive video on it, it's interesting, but also kinda sad.
Came here to say just that! 🎉🎉
