hate to have wasted your time, but scale the car down, please.
Fuuuuuck I've been working on something similar myself but as a personal custom- based on cyber punk/ retro 80s tech but with modern twists. Though I'm nearly nowhere near close to your progress, I hope to make it there eventually one day (money and time willing...). Good luck on your project eh, it's coming along great! Edit: For the time being, im planning on trying some ideas out on an older motorcycle first as it keeps cost down. Any recommendations for getting used to Solidworks? I'm somewhat familiar with fusion 360, but I'm still quite limited in what I can do.
Thank you! And I still have a very long way to go unfortunately. Once you learn one CAD it is pretty transferrable to another. I recommend trying some modeling exercises you can find on RUclips and challenging yourself with things you see around you.
To be completely fair, Hawaii would be infinitely better with public transit ONLY Hawaii was not meant for American Car Culture, it literally doesnt have the space
Both the states that I have lived in are F-tier... I feel like I should have gotten an "Achievement Unlocked:" notification.
At the time of writing, this video has 647 views and has been out for 5 days. I totally get why nobody clicked on it, because the subject matter is... that... but like This is obviously well researched and well made, you even added little slideshow animations. It was well organized, covered all 50 states with in-depth research behind it, clear, and I like it. Well done, S Tier video
I appreciate the comment! I feel a big part of it is the title and thumbnail, but I'm not sure how I would change it to be better.
I can't wait for the car to star taking shape. Will you build your own chassis or repurpose existing one to fit the car?
I'm going to build my own
top irony content
Huh, PA shadow laws? What?
Why did I just watch this
Why does Maine get C. A good grade is something I should both be proud of, and am capable of changing. Hence I am sad And Maine also has a new state flag 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Remember the important fourth category the states were being judged on.
"I'm paying you as much attention as you pay your vehicle laws" lmao
Can't wait for the sequel, canada provinces
I'm not pulling a cgp grey on that one. The US was trauma enough.
@@Project66Hoonit’s only 10 provinces and 3 territories
Is this the first time my comment has resulted in the next video? EDIT: Both states I’ve lived in are B tier? Nice
As a German viewer, I'd be really interested to know how you find our laws. I'm no lawyer or anything, but still I think ours are, as so often, overwhelmingly complex...
Awesome video! Maybe you could do Porto Rico and Guam?
YESS LETS GOO
I understand that I am quite late to the video, but I am quite happy that you decided for an ICE. I also fully support your idea of the hybrid system. In my humble opinion, such a system is the best possible drivetrain that is possible with current technology, as current battery technology is still too limited for automotive use. The hybrid system allows you to combine the advantages of both EVs and ICE powered cars with few if any of the drawbacks.
Disclaimer: in case this sounds like it was recorded in a mostly empty room, that's because it was recorded in a mostly empty room.
Oh! Thank you for this statement. I was wondering if it sounded like it was recorded in a mostly empty room, due to it being recorded in a mostly empty room. If it looks like I typed this comment in mostly dark room, that's because it was typed in mostly dark room and haven't even started watchin yet.
I think you stacked your problems in reverse, you can custom glass cut from any automotive windshield place if they can see the physical car. Going into details about door mechanisms before discussing any chassis to build from (unless your doing fabricating everything from scratch, to which godspeed to you) it would probably be best to buy a chassis and build from that.. from there THEN you can start tackling suspension, power and wheels. Get a chassis, or decide on a chassis then engineer from there
I know you've mentioned that you don't have the ability to make a windshield and therefore cant use it for rally. Have you checked out Superfastmatt? He has some videos on making his own windshield for a drag car using a torn down oven. Not entirely sure if it would help but I thought I would recommend it.
Thanks! I watched his video, and it looks too jank for this project. While I love a good turbo oven as much as the next guy, I think I can get some company to make a custom glass one as from what I have gathered they might actually be about the same price.
@@Project66HoonHaha just figured it would be a shame if you couldn’t actually rally it. But yeah it makes more sense to get a company to make it. Although it’s not as fun as making a turbo oven.
I suggest using a pre existing car and modify it to fit your 66 design. The 66 from a side view kinda looks like a mustang. Could build your chassis and skin it with the mustang body and use what will work mainly the a pillars and roof. Would save you a lot of fabrication. But just my two cents. Gonna be awesome regardless. Keep up the awesome work.
"Know why I pulled you over? Your tint is too dark" 🚔🚨
I enjoyed the Type 66 in Cyberpunk immensely. Flawed as the driving mechanics in game were at the time, it made me respect a car that could go everywhere fast and turn like a sports car, and be cool. Good luck with the project. I hope you pull it off without going crazy during what can only be a long and tedious journey of engineering and fabrication with serious thought invested in aesthetic. Moreover, I hope you roll all 7's and pull it off in a way that other people can replicate the project with a little kit, a ton of off the shelf parts, and a garage full of tools. Seriously though, take your time and take breaks from this so it doesnt burn you out or drive you into insolvency. As a guy with two law degrees, Im already concerned about the brain damage you may have incurred by reading all 50 states laws on vehicle construction:)
Haha, I incurred some serious mental damage from all the laws. I gotta take a break from it for a bit so I don't lose my mind. In the meantime, I will read something more fun like engineering textbooks.
3:25 insanity

I would love to see you rank state laws.
Um... you DO realize that the only state laws that matter regarding what makes your car legal are the laws in whatever state you live in, right? All other states MUST recognize your car as legal in their states when you travel there as long as it's legal in your home state, even if your car would normally not be legal in those other states!
I am aware. I'm going to be moving in the future, and location depends on where my job takes me. Since it could be anywhere, I did all of them. Also, some states really don't cover what should be covered, so I don't regret doing it either way.
@@Project66Hoon ah ok, that makes sense!
yes, state law video please.
That Arizona law explains why everyone here is addicted to speeding lmao
PA deserves F- for essentially creating shadow laws
THANK YOU for mentioning Ange. I've wanted to build an EV myself in a few years, and have been doing some research on different projects relating to that. Ange The Great's virtual engine is the most ingenious solution for electric/hybrid performance vehicles that I've seen so far
Could be like a Chevy Volt, where the ICE also charges the batteries.
As a New Jersey resident I agree with ur judgment
I know its an old video but for the chassis for the love of god dont bother with aluminum especially if you plan on trying any kind of offroading especially with a heavier ev powertrain. Aluminum has no fatigue resitance is generally waeker than steel and way way way harder to fabricate by the point you are able to design an aluminum chassis you would probably be better off doing a full carbon monocoque. Even top level off road cars such as dakar and baja will stick to steel going with chromoly alloys usually Also for basic desgin and overral parameters i recommended the racecar design textbook by derek seward and for more in depth suspension design race car vehicle dynamics by doug miliken
I have since learned that basically every rollcage requires steel, so I'm going with that. I've heard of both of those books, and I'll definitely give them a read.
@@Project66Hoon after watching your other videos i can say that you are on the right path so ill just give you an recommendation for a general guide on how to design a vehicle i would reccomend looking into Fsae and baja sae rulebooks and which are free and easy to find they are detailed enough to give you multiple pointers on the design directions you should also look into their respectives also their spec sheet an SES documents which have more safety and design reccomendations
That Arizona stopping distance typo is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
You keep talking about glass laminated glass for automobiles can be ordered. They're a bunch of places that cut square glass for older 18 wheelers.
the quadra type 66 is by far my favorite vehicle in cyberpunk both the standard and badlands versions
I really hope you'll consider a Coyote V8, its sound matches the ingame car pretty well i think, besides they make great power with the stock valvetrain. Also if you are going the hybrid route, adding something like an axial flux motor between the engine and the gearbox could be really awesome, you could charge the battery while driving normally, and then when you need a ton of power you have that instant torque at all wheels, not just the front. Would be similar to the kels 350z.
I saw that you want to include an electric drivetrain in this car. Have you reconsidered this? Electric drivetrains are surprisingly expensive once you really get in to them. Apart from that, one of the main drivers of how a car feels is how it sounds, and the Quadra 66 has an especially prominent V8. It will probably also be easier to reach 1000 whp with a V8 crate engine than with an electric drivetrain - especially if you're using E85, which is pretty close to lore correct CHOOCH. Soundwise you'll find that maisteer has recently cracked the code - a stepped equal length header should get very close to the sound of the 66. If you're not getting enough power out of that, but are lacking room under the hood for turbos, consider moving them to the rear of the car. People have had quite good success with turbos in the boot. If you combine that with an MGU-H type turbo as Mercedes and Porsche are currently selling or planning to sell ( C63 AMG and 911 GTS respectively), turbolag would be minimal and you can use the piping from turbo to manifold as intercooler. It also seems to allow for air cooled turbos in high horsepower applications, because you're not hitting your turbos with 1500°K exhaust. I'm sure you're aware of Rob Dahm's exploits in replicating a lot of the Hoonicorn's drivetrain, which would be necessary here for the AWD. Finally, I really wouldn't change the ratios of the car. Part of what makes the 66 look the way it does is how flat and wide it is. If you're having trouble with fitting yourself in the car, consider reclining your seat - it works in F1 cars, it should work here too ( and laid back driving is a lot more comfortable than you'd think).
In my most recent video, I said that I am going to make it a hybrid. As for the body, I have to change the dimensions as it is currently illegal to have it be so wide. I think I may have found another way of changing size but still have it look the same for the most part. I'll keep the rest of what you said in mind. Thanks!
@@Project66Hoon I haven't watched that one yet. About the sizes: That's unfortunate, but I still would advise against downsizing just in X and Y while leaving Z original, as the car doesn't have to be big - just flat and wide. Your adjusted model gives off more of an first gen Mustang vibe, less Hoonicorn. From what I saw in your 3D model, your seat is actually higher than it needs to be, so I'd really reconsider this plan. Have you made any specific plans about the hybrid drivetrain yet? I've been toying around with the idea of manufacturing my own diff with two entries, one for ICE and another for electric powertrains, using existing diffinternals and casting a new shell. Benefits would be allowing for EV only mode, drawback would be not being able to draw on the electric drive train during high speeds because of the high rpm. attaching it to the crankshaft makes it impossible to run EV only, attaching it to the gearbox in shaft puts a lot of stress and wear on the clutch. One thing I've found that I really like is turbo compound, where you attach a turbine to the exhaust flow but use the energy there not to drive a turbine that pressures air in to the engine, but attach it to the crankshaft through a torque converter to even out exhaust pulses. basically you get more bang for your buck while keeping compression and therefore efficiency high. One could attach an electric motor to the turbine shaft instead and feed the energy generated to the electric motors - if they are attached behind the gearbox, you can even forego a reverse gear. I don't know how well this would work on an already turbocharged engine though.
@@zibingotaeam3716 I am hoping to get a model of a racing seat with myself sitting in it soon, so I can see how things actually stand. Since your comments are rather in-depth, I highly recommend joining the discord (in the description) so it's easier to talk about this kind of thing.
I mean technically the car is electric, as it runs on your computer 😂
“I have been playing a lot of CyberPunk2077 recently” Me too. Me too.
I tried to drag across the video to see the car but I didn't see the car . There is no car
Hey man cool video, look forward to watching the project. For the front fender what if it was floating separately from the rest of the body? I think the visual effect could be maintained if there was still a gap with negative space between the body and fender assembly
can you also be compliant with the UK Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations?
I made it an entire minute into this video before realizing you were talking about a cyber*punk* car and not a cyber*truck*, which obviously made me very confused upon clicking the video lol I'd love to see a full video ranking every state's vehicle regulations!
I used to drive past SAE every day to get on I-79
How did you do a tier list of Automobile regulations and not rank California?
