Mike AJ Carp Fishing
Добавлен 2 ноя 2021
Welcome to my channel, I am Mike Albans-Jackson a lifelong coarse and sea angler who has had the privilege of combining work and fishing around the world from the Arctic to the South Atlantic, the Pacific to the North Sea and many places in between, enabling me to fish from; ships, small boats, all manner of shoreline, river banks, still waters, kayaks and standing in the surf on far flung beaches. I work full-time as a consultant engineer but travel less these days enabling me to focus my spare time on my LOVE of CARP Fishing. My channel is predominantly dedicated to my UK coarse and Carp fishing with honest 'warts and all' non-sponsored and unbiased product & tech reviews and useful tips & tricks. I aim to upload new videos once or twice every couple of weeks. I hope my channel content is informative, inspiring and at times, humorous but most of all, of interest and value to YOU.

Nicely done..... Uve made my mind up to buy one
Excellent demonstration and your idea of chopping the tiger nuts is impressive and make a lot of sense, thank you sir
If I am being honest mate, the 28+ pounders that are in there since they are big fish they are not going to come out straight away. They are smart fish. 😅
can a heli set up be used with these bushwhackers?
Just a very very good video well done and thanks for taking the time and trouble.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks my friend I'm going to get this bivvy. Thanks for showing a clear set up .subscribed to your channel.
Cracking video... i just wondered what connection method/app you use when your go pro is attached on the end... as I have also tried this but with the standard connection it looses connection after about 10 sections and I regularly use 30+sections but would like to be able to use my go pro at that length.. many thanks..
Just purchased one of these bivvies and this video is a belter at showing how to put this up, thanks very much for taking the time to do this.
I’m looking at getting these, as despite having some very tall snag bars I’ve only got so much faith in my slimmer shimano rods staying in the butt rests. These seemed like a universal system suitable for every rod ever made hence my choosing them. Thanks for doing the review. You know they’re bloody strong magnets when they start rotating even when they’re nowhere near each other 😂
Great Video, very comprehensive and honest review. I have been thinking of getting one of these but couldn't make my mind up. I will definitely be buying one now, thanks to you my friend. All the best and tight lines 👍 🎣🎣
Hi, I am pleased you found the review useful. I hope you have as much success with the Bushwhacker as I do.
Used to fill a keepnet with Roach, Rudd and big Roach/bream hybrids. Had 20lb plus pike from there too. 5lb Chub up near exit to river too. Full of Gudgeon and Bullhead too, or it used to be. Cleatham trout pond overflowed into the nearby dyke that enters the River eau, seen some big trout in there
Great review and tips Mike, subscribed 👍 16:35
That’s a great size for a one man tent!
Enjoyed this Mike, good little format! These little rivers are gems,I’ve given you sub,you should have more hits for this👍
Cheers Mark and thank you for the feedback
Can't wait to use this
How are you finding the drop out in signal to deeper to phone mate? I’m looking into getting this model but have friends with previous models saying they have the same issue with it dropping out after anything past 20meters. All the other videos of this deeper on your tube are sponsored I think so after a honest review. Ta mate
Hi, many thanks for your comment and query. Since the initial teething problems with connectivity (that I mentioned in my review) I have not had any issues and regularly use my Deeper at ranges between 50 and 100m. The connectivity issue for me was because my GoPro and/or ear pods were also automatically connecting to my phone. To resolve this, when using the Deeper I ensure it is the only device connected. I hope this helps? Kind regards, Mike
hi, I'm off to Sherwood Forest centre parts this weekend. I can't find much info anywhere of fishing there. did you have to purchase a permit?
Hi Robert, Yes I had to get a permit - it was about £17. You can book these online or purchase them from the water sports centre by the beach i.e. the hut that hires out canoes and rowing boats etc. The only issue with purchasing at the beach hut is that it doesn't open until about 9am and I went fishing early morning so buy the night before if you can. The pegs are hard to find but I found the fishing quite entertaining because the lake has no pressure. If you go to the pancake house you will see the larger carp patrolling waiting for punters to throw in food! Tight lines. Kind regards, Mike
Like the way you bought 2 sets....would that work out cheaper?
Hi, Thank you for your comment. For me it was a case of what was available at the time. The spare poles were stuck on the container ship that ran aground in the Suez Canal. However the advantage of buying a second set was that I got a spare spoon. The disadvantage was I ended up with a second pole that had the rubberised handle and therefore I only had 19 useable poles instead of 20. Once they became available, I did purchase some individual sections that took the range of my bush whacker to about 45m. Hope this is helpful. Regards, Mike
Lot of deploying going on
Bro ur fishing in swimming pools
when packing away do you have to take the inner front panel off
Hi Trevor, yes you do need to remove the inner front panel. Regards, Mike
how the ground is linked to the bivy ? cant see in the video . thank you
Hi, the ground sheet clips in. There is a clip and tension strap in each corner. Kind regards, Mike
Some people make boilies, others destroyd them😅😅
Surely these come into their own in winter months ?
Yes, 100%
Great video Mike - do you know if the solar one would accommodate a 10ft sonik scope style rod? Cheers Jono
Hi, Thanks for your comments. Yes, I believe it is universal so would accommodate 10ft Scope. I really like the Solar kit, it is very well made. Cheers, Mike
Bought one of these and going to use it for the first time next week, i also bought the over wrap. Could i use the bivvy with the overwrap without putting the inner front in?
Hi Pete, yes I believe you can. Enjoy the bivvy
Good angling mate with all that weed wrapped around the fish
Nice fish
Mate, his bless and thankyou for you service. My dad served 37 years and I'm ashamed I didn't follow his steps, but when I was young the IRA were a threat to my family as my father was a recruitment officer. He was a Warrant officer second class and I am incredibly proud of him, but as a kid we had regular threats of IRA attacks because there were many IRA in our area of Tunbridge Wells. This scared me. It's not natural to grow up watching your father check his car every morning for bombs. Anyway god bless and thankyou, it's great to see good men enjoying their fishing 🎣
Hi Mike, like you video. We are 9 months further down the road now, do you still like it? Did there occur any problems with it? Any tips and tricks with setting it up or breaking it down you found out? Mine is on its way right now!
Hi, thanks for your comments. 9-months in and loving the bivvy. No negative issues to report. For tips and tricks on set-up pls watch my other video of on the bank set up. That said, it really is very straightforward to set up and pack down. hope you enjoy using yours when it arrives. Kind regards, Mike
Great review. Are you still Producing videos?
Hi, thank you for your feedback, really appreciated. I haven't posted anything for a while as I have been maxed out at work 😞but just doing a September rod bender video at the moment and planning a review of a bite alarm. Cheers, Mike

Hiya Mike I never knew you had a channel, I’ve just subscribed to it now. It all sounds really interesting. How have you been getting on down at the lake?
Hi Will, Thanks and yeah not bad but blanked the last time I fished it couple of weeks ago. Up in Scotland at the moment fishing the sea lochs for a change of scenery and cooler weather!! You have been catching some corkers this year, excellent fishing.
@@mikeajcarpfishing1415 ahhh nice one and yeah I can’t complain hoping to get back on the lake when I come back off holiday
Hello, I have a deeper chirp 2 sonar! I used it only once and it worked without any problems, I was able to connect deeper with my phone without any difficulties! the moment he apologized for the battery, I inserted it to charge it and in the next game I couldn't connect deeper to my phone! I specify that it connects to the phone when it is charged, and when I remove the charging cable and insert the deeper into the water, the connection with the phone can no longer be made! The deeper device is no longer visible in the wifi section! I also cleaned those pins on the back of the deepest, but I still can't connect it! I'm waiting for answers! Thanks!
Have you contacted the Deeper customer service. I have found them to be very helpful.
Mike, is this a day ticket water?
no mate, its part of Scunthorpe Amalgamated Anglers (SAA) complex of ponds at Yaddlethorpe nr Bottesford. Annual membership is about £50.
Hi Mike. After many youtube videos on numerous bivvies I have now plumed for this one. Before I go out and spend my hard earned cash, I have a couple of questions I would like to ask. Not sure if you have the Over wrap, but with it on does it make it bigger in the front? Also when i went to a tackle shop to get a demonstration how to put it up the guy said, once you have the poles together before you fan it out it is easer to peg down the back 1st? Cheers.
Hi Ray, thanks for your message. I personally do not have/use an overwrap so am unsure of exactly how much extra storage space it provides. You may find the answer on the Sonik sports website. Re setting up - Personally I would not peg it out before fanning out the bivvy. I connect the poles, fan it out, fit the 2 peak poles, move the bivvy to where I want to place it, fit the tension strap and then peg it out. I did a second video of setting up on the bank - link here ruclips.net/video/M0U5cuBfC5U/видео.html This may help you. All in all I love this bivvy. It is quick and easy to set up, looks good, is roomy and has a vert versatile zipping system. Oh and very water proof. Kind regards, Mike
I use the Sonik AXS, with the overwrap, it an awsome bivvy for the money, the wrap gives about an extra 2 foot of extra space at the front, I can get my bedchair with all my bags in and a recling Sonik Armchair also.
It is advised to use this with your spod/marker setup, braid with a 50lb leader. It’s 92g so not light, it’s hardly aerodynamic either! Also as many others have said it’s essential to turn off mobile data and WiFi assist, keep the device high up to maintain VLOS - wifi and water do not complement each other. Also as you mentioned might be worth turning off your WiFi on the go pro and any other devices which may be causing interference.
Hi Danial, Many thanks for your message and tips, greatly appreciated. I nearly learnt the hard way regarding there braid!!
@@mikeajcarpfishing1415 No problem, good video! My first outing with mine, was on a new syndicate. Turns out the deeper is as much a pike magnet as it is a sonar!
@@danialgarratt504 thanks
Can you get an overwrap for the AXS?
Hi, sorry for slow reply, yes you can get an overwrap. Regards, Mike
Nice short video and the bacon butty has made me feel hungry :-)
Is all this really necessary? If anyone is a competent fisherman you will have excellent watercraft and manage to catch fish. Seems to me Carp fisherman are all about SHOW and how much money the really do like to waste on silly novelty items. Did Chris Yates and any old school carp fisherman use any of this modern day rubbish? 🤔🤔🤔
Hi, thanks for your comment, I respect your opinion and my review is hopefully there to help people choose if a baiting pole is worth the money. IMHO technology moves on. I am sure there are few, if any, 'old school' anglers still using split cane rods vs modern carbon rubbish, centre pin reels vs today's fixed spools and old style fishing line vs mono, braid or fluorocarbon. Back in the 70's I was sceptical about poles - fast forward 40+ years and the novelty factor isn't diminishing. Therefore is it really modern day rubbish or just another available, non-compulsory, tool in the armoury of an angler - that is up to the individual to decide. I appreciate the debate you have opened up :-)
I think if you gave them the opportunity, they would use it.
Do you think it's better value than the trakker and fox frontier?
Hi, I can't really comment on the other bivvies, but the AXS is great value and really is easy to set up and configure. Regards, Mike
Buddy that was a very good review.your a natural. Well done I just subscribed 👍
Hi, Many thanks, I really appreciate your comments
Should of brought a boat lol
Seen couple not holding up in the bad weather they do xl version now
Hi, Thanks for your comment. I have not come across any issues but re your query, have you checked out the Sonik website?
@@mikeajcarpfishing1415 yea just waiting on the xl but think it around £400 I did have the cyprinus storm but the poles was not the best it iver the trakker 150 I get or nash t1 or sonik xl lol
Turn off your mobile data while using the deeper
Hi, thanks
Morning....got a set of a these few weeks ago and well impressed but I think the 'o' ring that comes with it is a further option to use to hold the rod in place in addition to the bulkier adjustable strap depending on the size of the butt of your rod ?? Gary
Hi Gary, thanks for your comment and I agree, the 'O' rings are another method for fixing the rod to the magnetic butt rest.
Mike, do you know if it is waterproof / resistant?
hi, thanks for your comment. I am really not sure so probably best to assume it isn't. thanks, Mike
Have you tried the night cover? And is it effective?
Hi, thanks for your comment. No I have not tried it at night yet but hope to do so soon. When I do, I will upload a short video. Cheers, Mike
I use the night cover all the time it's a lot easier to spot at range
@@AlexLifts1210 Hi, Alex, thanks for your comment. I have started to do the same. I agree, it is a lot easier to spot. Cheers, Mike
Nice review thank you for posting. Did you turn mobile data off on your phone? This helps a lot with connection issues.
Hi Richard, thanks for your comment. Yes I tried that, also tried putting the phone onto airplane mode. Not sure if it was my GoPro trying to compete with it! Cheers, Mike
Hi Richard, Yes I tried this and it helped thank you, I think part of the problem for me at one venue was the local geography i.e. lots of trees etc. Cheers, Mike
