The saddleback is technically for a wallet using worse leather. Saddleback uses chrome tanned leather, which is known for having more stretch and give to it. This is useful for things like leather jackets, and or boots that need to mold to your feet. But a wallet that you want to last a long time would be better made from a veg tan leather like the new wallet you have. Veg tan leathers tend to hold their shape better for longer and they also tend to feel quite a bit more waxy and premium. Of course Chrome tan can also be great, its just prob not the best choice for a wallet. Think about high end boots made of shell cordovan. Cordovan is shiny and has no grain to it, and it holds its shape extremely well. This is why nice boots and dress shoes are made of this material, but cordovan footware is also notrious for having longer break in periods. This is not a good attribute for an everyday pair of boots or shoes. This is why companies such as horween has made a combo tanned leather called chromexcel (CXL). CXL is chrome tanned and then hot stuffed with the oils and waxes that are used in the veg-tan process, therefore making them more premium and strong and keeping the stretchy character of chrome tanned leather. Its not quite as good as something like Dublin or Cordovan when it comes to sheer strength, but its a good balance and scratches also buff out easily due to the oil and wax inside the leather being able to fill in scuffs.

I own all three companys for different hunts and time of year. Skre is a great company, affordable, well made. I use kuiu for moose season, early season whitetails. I use first lite when the leaves change and drop. I recently purchased the skre guardian suit for a late winter mule deer hunt in Saskatchewan. Super impressed with skre's quality. They always have great sales as well in Canada where we pay a premium for good gear. Good review!

As someone who decided on Skre 4 years ago, I can say the hard scrabble jacket is my favorite, but the pants I can't fit into. At 6'1" 230# I went 2 sizes up and still can't comfortably fit let alone with base layers. Unfortunately, my wife smokes and Skre was unable to honor the VIP exchange policy due to the cigarette smell. Be aware of this nuance with the Skre policy if you or you family smoke. Currently looking at first lite and their sanctuary bib and jacket combo.

I wear solid pants hunting turkeys all the time. I have never had an issue. These pants are worth the money, but they need to do double duty. I killed a turkey last season at 12:30 PM on a Friday and wore the same pants to a meeting on Tuesday. But I have some camo pants in expensive gear, too. But mostly, I buy solids in pants.

bro your videos are great. Way more informative and in depth than everything else on youtube. Please keep it up dog. Btw i have the skre hardscrabble jacket, ptarmigan insulated jacket, and kuiu merino 145 hoodie. They are both great. For anyone wondering you do not have to upsize if you plan on wearing the ptarmigan over the hardscrabble jacket. I have them both in large and they fit literally pefect together. I am 5'10 and 180. The hardscrabble fits pretty snug and I only have room for 1 long sleeve T as a base layer. I should have ordered an XL in the hardscrabble because there's no way I can fit an insulated jacket underneath. If you plan on fitting an insulated jacket underneath the hardscrabble jacket, size up AT LEAST one size on the hardscrabble. I will be running the KUIU merino 145 zip-t hoodie under the hardscrabble jacket and a ptarmigan as an outer layer when I'm stationary. If the kuiu pro merino 200 zip-t is on sale on black friday I will layer that over the merino 145 and under the hardscrabble. That is pretty much all I will have room for underneath the hardscrable. I hope this was helpful for someone!

Ran Skre for the first time this Elk season. I was really impressed! Everywhere we walked was in blown downs. First, I felt I could climb over all those logs just fine which I like the athletic fit. Second, they were way more durable than I expected! I had zero rips after 50 miles of hiking in blown down. I had some close calls where I thought I would rip them, but nope. Everything held up really well. I did get to wear them in some rain too. I stayed dry on the inside. The outside would be a little wet, but would dry in no time while sitting in the sun. Also, their camo patterns are great. I run Summit. You can watch The Camo Matrix on youtube and see. That guys compares all kinds of camo with filters based on what colors deer can see. Skre does pretty good in his comparisons. I have two complaints, though. First, I didn't feel like the hardscrabble was that great at keeping the wind out. There were some evenings where we could sit and I would get cold, even with a non-skre puffy. Second, the pants felt a little wide. Skre has a sale of their tan color hardscrabble pants that I also bought, and the tan pants felt to have tighter legs. Perhaps, they have tightened up their hardscrabble pants since I bought the camo ones last February? To combat the wind, I think I'll keep an eye out for when their Guardian jacket goes on sale. Oh, and I can vouch for buying a size up. I'm a pretty small guy with a 32 in waist and I have to run 36 for them to fit right. But, I have to do the same for all the brands--Sitka, Kings, etc. I also run an XL jacket as I like to have room for another jacket under. Skre has good prices for their quality. And they are always having sales. I'm glad they have solid colors now. I might pick up a Hardscrabble jacket for everyday use. They are like wearing pajamas! Would recommend.

Great stuff! I have worn the Skre now on several hunts. I totally agree on the durability so far. Also agree on the wide pants on the legs. I didn’t notice this before I hunted in them, but you are right! They are not form fitting enough for my liking. Its not a deal breaker, but certainly noticeable going through the woods. I didn’t notice the wind as much, but haven’t hunted in suoer windy conditions yet.

Great video. I'm a whitetail hunter that was looking for system before the '21 season. At that time I was comparing Pnuma & Skre. I ended up going with the Skre system & I'm loving it. Lifetime warranty. There are no brick & mortar expenses the consumer has to absorb. Lastly, when you buy an item you can send it back at no charge as many times as needed until you get the size that fits. You're going to love the system!

You're making the same mistake a lot of people make with this wallet. Too many cards and cash, thats why it looks so beat up and stretched out. No way that thing will last another 5 years without some of the pockets tearing. I wouldn't recommend anyone use this wallet if they can't keep it at 4-5 cards and 3-4 bills. That's how I keep mine and at 6 years it still looks great, my ID pocket does't look like its about to rip and no bills stick out the top.

@@starexclusive9 You like having a broken, unusable wallet? There's a difference between having a nice broken-in wallet with a nice patena and having one that is falling apart like in this video. Look at the top corners on the first pocket, they are ripping and on the brink of not being able to hold cards without them falling out. His ID slot is about to rip also.

    • @-runswithbeer-8075
      @-runswithbeer-8075 6 лет назад

Andrei Sas I have a few Saddleback wallets so I can give a somewhat educated answer. I’ve found the pigskin to be supple and easy to slide cards and cash in and out. Also pigskin is very thin so this allows for stronger lining than fabric. Just a warning, when you get a saddleback wallet it’s very stiff and will be a pain in the butt to use for about 2 months then it will be like any other wallet but stronger. Also another warning, leather only stretches one way, so if you put 3 cards in the outer pocket and then go down to 1, your card can possibly fall out. So be thoughtful on how much you put in and what you really need. You can always stuff in more but once it stretches that’s it. It’s kind of like a fitted Italian shoe. Best of luck.
