While the name Aquila can refer to an Italian city, it feels obvious that Ladyhawke is happening in medieval France. All names are french (Etienne Navarre, Philippe Gaston...) and Isabeau of Anjou, which refers to a french province.

Game Of Thrones absolutely would not exist without Dragonslayer. George RR Martin has talked about the fantasy that influenced him. Dragonslayer is one of his favorite movies. Honestly a lot of modern epic/high fantasy would at least be different without it. I literally tell every young fantasy fan I meet to see it. Whenever I start a new relationship I show them this movie among a few others. I've been surprised how many women loved it growing up. More than once they've told me that and we had fun watching one of our favorite classics. So clearly it has a wide appeal. I really do love it

My mom took my brother and I to a park one time because they were having a screening of Black Cauldron (a couple years before it came to VHS). But it was still light out and the projector screen was so small we couldn’t even see it. Had to wait a few more years before I ever saw it. Still, a worthwhile memory. 😊

Conan was very much NOT a "comic book character" created in 1932. He was a pulp magazine, short story character featured in Weird Tales and then collected in book form in the 1960s. He became a paperback sensation because of the Ace/Lancer series of the late 60s and 70s (riding the fantasy boom created by the Lord of the Rings release). Only then did Marvel adapt him to comic book form, which was also highly successful.
