This is all about helping people and not about making money, there will over time be many subjects covered like processing home grown tobacco, home brewing, gold prospecting, travel, gardening and construction projects.
Most of my subjects will not include me talking forever just for the sake of talking too many channels have a 2 minute video turned into an hour of nonsense.
Be patient I have a very busy life.

Tobacco Shredder Clean up
Просмотров 4928 дней назад
The rollers were getting gummed up so I decided to strip the machine and clean them. I was unable to get the rollers out of the gearbox so soaked them in a concentrated laundry detergent mix, it was successful however next time I would not cut the motor wires I would just remove the motor cover, comb plates and the front plate.

Well I got home after a month in Asia to find my PC had died so I bought another only to find new video software to get accustomed to as Movie Maker is a subscription now so the best of luck with that rip off. This is the start of my trip so just a taste of what to come.

Screening tobacco for the Powermatic 3 injector
What if I will register on the day of my departure?
that's ok as long as its done before you arrive. It is a quick process once you know how to do it.
What is the voltage requirements of this machine , I'm pipe smoker from Philippines
you can buy these in both 240 and 110 volts just make sure you get the right one ask the question before purchase so you get the right one, the plug is not an issue as adapters are readily available. Make sure also you get the width of cut that suits, the shipping costs vary so just be careful.
That cat is so pretty. You are very lucy.
It has been suggested that this big cat has been drugged, that is not the case they have been hand reared since they were born and have a routine and that is after lunch they have a nap and they sleep. They were very much awake prior to my contact with them and they were very calm.
@@obi1kahnobee549 ya, I did understand that. You made that clear. It makes sense. Hand raised... I guess it might be a littlw rough if they were playful kittens.
6 year old Powermatic III I've made over 150,000 thanks for showing how to open it up. I bet I had a pound of fine tobacco inside. Saved $175 thanks to you. I think getting the fine tobacco out saved it. Definitely using a screen prior to adding tobacco to get rid of fine tobacco would be a plus for longevity. Note: Wanted to add this. Before I took mine apart the indicator for how tight the tobacco is packed stopped working some time ago. After removing all that tobacco dust the indicator started working again. For the first few I made I noticed that if you have the display to the lightest setting it actually packs the cigarettes tighter. So move the indicator all the way to the right and adjust from there. I was starting to think all my cigarettes were going to be packed too tight to smoke. So far more than 150,000 and counting, I'm thinking this may reach another 150K.
11:36 I had to see the tiger again.
Great video. The woman working on the loom. How can anyone do repetitive work. I would go nuts. I need a lot of variety to stay sane. It would be fun to raise silk worms. Whay do they eat?
The silk worms eat Mulberry leaves, the work ethos in Asia is far different than the west these girls and their siblings have a responsibility to take care of their parents. There are no pensions or government funded schemes in Asia and everyone relies on their family for support. To meet those needs they will do anything to make ends meet including marrying much older men and prostitution, I made a mistake of giving a bigger than normal tip to a lovely young waitress who made sure everything was in order over two nights, because on the first night I had no small denominations I told her she would get a decent tip the following night which I did. She took this as an offer of marriage and accepted !!! I had to use all my powers of diplomacy to settle this without her losing face, she understood finally and I learnt a valuable lesson in Thailand. The tip was 50 Thai baht about $2 normally a tip would be 2 or 5 Baht.
@@obi1kahnobee549 whoa. How did you do it? Do you speak Tia?
@@candyflair7946 She spoke excellent English, I told her I was already married (a lie) and in my country I was only allowed one wife (unlike Asia). I could see a mix of disappointment and relief I think she didn't want to follow the many Thai girls who marry old western men to just get their money and wait for them to die.
The fishing boats were so colorful. I liked those. I like old boats. I started laughing at that one landing that looked bumpy. Was it as rough as it looked?
They are all pretty rough they unload their catch fuel up and take ice and then they go out again lots of people from Myanmar working there I talked to a few in Thailand and the violence forced them to work in other countries like Thailand especially.
@@obi1kahnobee549 I'm sorry, I meant the plane ride, was the plane on the runway rough? That's what made me laugh. The bumpy runway. It looks like it would be bummy like riding in a horse drawn buckboard.
@@candyflair7946 some landings were better than others Singapore has a very long runway twice as long as Christchurch so the landings there are usually much better, yes some landings were bumpy.
very clearly,thansk
Temples are beautiful. I like the old gothic cathedrals too. I can't think of anything more beatitiful than those two. I can quit thi king about the tiger and the elephants. That must have been a lot of fun to be with the animals.
I get lost in your videos. I enjoy them. I like the quiet town at the end. I love elephants. You can tell they are happy being around people.
That was a good video. Thank you. The white tiger was on cat nip! 😂 Mostly I like the golden Budha and the water ride. I lived on the water and it is nice, very nice.
These tigers are in a sanctuary where they are looked after and later used for breeding so the wild population can be restored they were given their lunch before we got there so they were just sleeping off their meal. Wonderful people who are passionate about big cats and their survival, one of the trainers of them has some very big scars from attacks and there are two cats that are not allowed to be out yet because they are just too savage, the highlight of my trip.
@@obi1kahnobee549 very interesting. How many decades have they been working with the tigers?
@@candyflair7946 I don't know how long they have been there all I know is that they are very passionate about their work and I had to go through a bit of training and sign a disclaimer in case I got eaten before they would let me in with them. I could see those big cats and they are huge the white tiger weighed 800 pounds are very calm with them because they have their trust. I went too a night safari in Chang Rai with tigers but I will not post any of that because they are not so kind people just using them for money the same applies with mistreated elephants that are rescued and looked after at the elephant sanctuary that you will see soon.
The gold Budda at the end is $138,000 Malay ringit which is about $46,000 New Zealand dollars.
The cat is adorable. I've never seen one before. That car with a damaged winshield. Did you say, safe? :)
drove past that Police station 5 days ago and there were more smashed up cars in the in the parking lot and on tow trucks looks like a place where the Police inspect vehicles after accidents.
@@obi1kahnobee549 yep, accidents and an astortment of crimes, too.
I have no idea why I am not getting notifications from your channel so I look every now and then and I suspect you are not getting my channel notifications either so anyway I have posted a longer vid of me in Thailand playing with a white tiger which was scary as there was a Bengal Tiger and a Liger just feet away as well.
@@obi1kahnobee549 they will send you top viewed and well liked stuff first. Ad revevue is their income so they show most popular first.
Safe is good! Sounds like the start of an entertaining trip.
I just got mine cleaned from it jamming and found a wad of hard packed tobacco at the end of the spoon and across the backside top and a small pack at the gate that closes off the chamber as the spoon advances. I'm suspecting high humidity as the culprit. Of course I did not see this until I took the cover off and looked at it from every possible angle, first seeing the gate jammed, which freed it up enough to get the spoon to cycle, then seeing something lodge to the spoon to which I cycled it and shut it off mid cycle as nothing I had would dislodge the hard pack. Even with the spoon extended it was a bear to pry that out.
Be interested in an update. I just got mine. 3 cigs badly packed and its jammed solid. Brand new machine. Oddly I have some no name ciggy packer from china for $39 and it works fine. 1000 packed so far. Just a bit slow as you have to manage the hopper manually. I was so excited for my new powermatic 3. Lasted about 2 minutes.
Yes when they fail it happens very fast I don't know when I will strip this machine I suspect the knife is the part that I need to open and clean I will post a video on the repair but this is months away. I am in Malaysia now and off to Thailand tomorrow.
Good luck. TL looking good, more back to normal Post Covid. Prices risen a bit. 20% more for accom(approx)
OK, thanks. My understanding is, you have to colour-cure the Virginia leaves. I have been using a method where you stack a small pile of freshly picked leaves in between towels on a flat surface, turning them daily until yellow. It takes a lot of time and space to turn the leaves, and if you are not watching, they can turn dark brown and rot. Can you show how you hang your leaves, where you hang them and if you can leaf at the start, mid and end of the process?
If you go through my shorts on colour curing you will see the process this one should help ruclips.net/user/shortsn_t1qCqKHus The important thing is they cannot be wet and must have air between them or they will mould also I did a short today on it. I won't be hanging any more until next season.
I might be confusing you so when I pick the leaves they are mature but green I then hang them and make sure they do not dry out until they have coloured cure and then they can dry the green will not go easily if they dry green so if they dry out I push the leaves together to keep them moist its the first few weeks that needs close attention once they have coloured cured just dry them so if you have any questions just let me know.
Any chance you can do a video showing this please?
sure just let me know what you want to see.
Hi, Have you been colour curing your Virginia leaves before drying? Or just hanging fresh picked leaves?
I just hang four leaves together stem to stem face to face, I have found that more than this gives a mould problem which has not happened this season. Also I have been curing at no higher than 48 degrees for about 24 days which seems to give a much better colour and flavour.
Well i was wrong I still finished up with a lot of dust so just go easy.
If it gets too dry it turns to dust.
@@candyflair7946 It wasn't dry I just mashed it way too much.
It's a shame people miss out on the free entertainment of sitting by the fire alone or with good company
It is very soothing I think I might start again my fireside rants on no particular subject just a chat to pass the time in front of the fire.
Love my woodstove
Looks good, Obi.
yes it looks great but it is full of dust.
Is there a link to buy that shredder ?
see description
Thanks so much for your demonstration! My machine seems to have internal jam keeping spoon stuck inside, I bet this will fix the problem.
Fine dust will cause the spoon to jam and will need clearing gently with the wire and brush provided with the machine be careful the spoon is not strong and easily damaged. See my vid on screening tobacco do this and no more jams. ruclips.net/video/zgRAzUshOMI/видео.html
@@obi1kahnobee549 Be careful around the tip of the cigarette holder it is easily bent. I used a drill and a very small bit to loosen the packed tobacco.
What language are you speaking?
English
It's looking good, Obi.
Some of my tobacco plants came back a second year. Weeds aren't to bad when you use a spade regularly.
My weed problem was my own fault last seasons end I let them go to seed and now I am paying for it.
@@obi1kahnobee549 I let a lot of mine go. As long as they are not crowding the food.
Nice bathrobe dude
I love my robe that my daughter in law gave me.
That's what I'm thinking about doing. Raking. There are always spots that need it.
I checked it today and all the weeds that I raked are dead and new weeds have sprouted .
The stems are always the last to change.
Had to remove the lambada link You Tube didn't like it and gave me a warning, I have no idea why I set it not suitable for children.
Hi, Is that Burley? And did you grow Virginia this year?
That was last years don't know if its Burley or Virginia Gold, I only grew Virginia Gold this year.
Interesting.
How is it going? Have you been colour-curing?@@obi1kahnobee549
What growing zone are you in?
The season still has a couple of months left however because i will be travelling to Australia and Asia in April I am winding down early.
@@obi1kahnobee549 haha, you can read my mind. I thought it was early. I hope you have an awesome time. Will you be posting a video or two of your trip?
@@candyflair7946 Yes I will post some videos / slideshows
@@obi1kahnobee549 cool, it is fun to see how people choose to enjoy themselves. I really enjoyed checking out the other trip you posted. I used to dream of traveling. One day, I no longer dreamed about it. Because I can make a perfect spot for myself without going anywhere. Before I was looking for all of the beautiful places I could see. I enjoyed every minute of it. Never an unpredictable problem. I drove. If I found a peaceful place, I would sit and enjoy it. If it was time to sleep I would drive and drive until I found a comfy safe place. I have a few beautiful and amusing stories for that. Friends traveling inspires beautiful memories. There is nothing more peaceful then. Friend said, I need to go there too. let me go with you, I'll help pay. I looked at her whining face and could only think that she would want to stop to make phone calls. I looked at her and said, take the plane like you planned. No peace with her lol
@@obi1kahnobee549 I always traveled alone.
Fermenting is the fun part. It gets to smelling sooo good.
I have had leaves 36 inches long. It was 1 or two years ago. I have a short video with a tape measure to show the length. I going for big ones this coming summer. I always use lots of compost tea. That thick compost tea I make.
I have used about a third of what I normally use for fertilizer and I think because i had so much wood ash has made the difference with the leaves being big no small ones except for the runt plants.
@@obi1kahnobee549 I have heard it is good. I have no experience with it.
@@candyflair7946 pruning out the suckers and reducing the number of leaves gives bigger ones if you look at commercial cigar growers when they pluck the seed pods they take a bunch of leaves with them.
@@obi1kahnobee549 I see. I just plucked the suckers before they turned to flowers leaves. I did it quite often because they grow really quickly.
Thank you Obi. I'm glad you have a place to build and be productive. When I was 19 I gambled 40 with a friend. I bought 3 1 dollar lottery tickets. That's it. Gambling is senseless.
Yup, it's all a process. Sometimes I may have the dehumidifier on for a few hours to stop mold, then next minute I'm in there with the humidifier.
Yeah, it's looking good 👍
Cheers thanks for pointing me here for a possible natural pesticide I typically target aphids on tobacco and spider mites on legal Marijuana. I am thinking that if i soak 1 leaf in a 1.5L mason jar for a week or so i could get the same result ?????
you could probably use ground stems and stalks dunno never tried it as I get enough fines anyway.
Nice steamer.😊👍
Good idea. They sure look pretty hanging in a line like that.
never done this before but it works great
I would try it if I needed it. I have cooked rice to get humidity in here in the summer. Winter is the opposite. I have to dry it out.
Wow, she's moving out. Let me know if you find here nest.
No nest she just decided to make my shed home.
No stems, that's always nice. I I take stems and veins out.
Nice beans.
