STARTING OUR DREAM VAN BUILD (Peugeot Boxer conversion)
Hi guys, just came across your channel and this is a great video and has helped a lot. I've got one large panel I'm looking at fitting down the centre of the van so would require me to build cross beams with the unistrut. I've been looking at the Mule van mushroom adapters but seem quite pricey, are the etsy ones a good alternative?
Sorry guys can I also ask how did you attach the unistrut to the mushrrom adapters please?
What are the dimensions of the actual glass from inside?
How much did they charge to fix the window?
It was only £50 for them to come and do it, will definitely use a proper fitter next time they make it look easy 😂
congrats on 1k subscribers
Thank you!!
Hope he makes a speedy recovery 🐶
Thank you, he’s doing well!
Hi there, the ladder install looks good. What make of ladder was it you used? Thanks
Thanks the ladder was from eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364683840354?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Lk6PVm6CTW2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=D2CAmnWwR3m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@our.van.adventures thanks for that.... makes sense for me as I've made a roof box which fits in the unistrut framing, cheers
Hi what l shape and t brackets did you use thanks
They are just the standard two hole per side brackets for the L and T’s and the solar panels are held on with single hole 90’s.
Love that, such a simple straightforward solution for what I thought was going to be more complicated. Thanks guys!
I'm the 1000th subscriber 🎉
Thank you so much for subscribing!
Pineapple on a pizza !!! **UNSUB** ........ 🤣🤣🤣 Jks ! another great video ☺ love seeing you both enjoying life 🤗
Thank you!! 😁
great video enjoy your trals
Thanks, you too!
That walk to your pitch was a tough one.Not sure I could do it 😅 Great views.
It was hard work but well worth the views
Cracking love the videos keep them coming👍
Thank you ☺️ we will make sure we keep going!
Hope all works out well 😅
Thanks, yeah it was a great weekend the guys at newgale made the best of a bad situation 🤙🏻
They were weight bluebells
Thank you we are useless at identifying plants 😂
@@our.van.adventures me too but I know bluebells lol
Looking forward to following your journey,we wish you all the very best, exciting times ahead 😀
Thanks so much! 😊
Our wee staffie cross, Max, also developed a limp after being on a pebble beach in Norfolk. He was fine after a couple of weeks though. Hope Albie is better now.
It’s a lot on their little legs! Glad your Max is ok. Albie is a lot better now, thank you! 😊
What wires did you use for your celing light, USB s etc ?
Hi we used multistrand single cables for our wiring. Most was done in 1.5mm as it is under 16a a few applications were larger like the fridge and heater just to be safe.

What effect on MPG did this setup have?
Not sure on the effect as we didn’t drive much before fitting it, but our camper fully loaded with the roof rack does about 27 mpg on average.
@@our.van.adventures that's amazing! I get like 15mpg on a full size roof rack...
How tall are you Tom? Asking to see if the bed fit you, width wise.
I am 6’2 and can fit with a bit of room spare 😃
Hi Guys Love the channel and we are learning a lot whilst converting our van. Would you honestly say the brackets from Etsy work well and are worth the money. It's a minefield out there and it gets a bit overfacing. Kind regards Jonny
Hi Johnny we think they are worth the money we have had them on for around 18months and 12000 miles now and they are still as good as the day we put them on. It can be done with Unistrut or similar but we couldn’t justify the time.
Splendid part of the country 👌🏽 that bread looks lush ive subbed to see where you guys get too on yiur travels good vlog of this place enjoy
Thanks for the sub!
What size panels did you guys use?
We used the 200w renogy ones 👍
@our.van.adventures thankyou!👍🏻
Where do you get those brackets that go on to those mushrooms on the van and those lengths of tubing thanks
The brackets are linked in the description and the rest is just Unistrut.
Mattress size pls?😊
Hi it is just a standard double
HI, It's great to see someone has figured out to provide a low-cost solution to something that could prove to be very expensive it you bought the after-market supplier products. One question though; where did you get the right angle brackets that attach the solar panel itself to the unistrut?
Hi thanks for the comment the 90 brackets are just unistrut corner brackets
Perfect... been toying with the idea of a van conversion for a few years now, following lots of the 'famous' van lifers on here, etc... finally decided a Boxer is what I want to convert so looking forward to your series of vlogs.
What dimension strut did you guys use. Great video BTW! 👍
Thanks we used 21x41 light duty to keep the weight down 👍
@@our.van.adventures thank you!!! 😁
How have the mounting brackets held up since you constructed it about a year ago? We're thinking of a similar design for our roof rack - surfboards and solar panels built around 2x air vents. Thanks for the video - very helpful!
They are still solid, would still recommend them 👍
Hi, great build, how did you attach the wood batten to the van beam for the ikea skirva beams please? I'm in process of installing my bed myself and would like to do it the same way.
Hi yes we used rivnuts in the existing holes in the van and bolted the wooden beam on, this allowed us to put the brackets where we wanted 👍
@@our.van.adventures 👍🏻
hi mate. just got myself a boxer. where did you get your window from.. cheers
I love the insulation idea in the lower corner, im copying that
How do you find the tyres on the road?
To be honest really good, they don’t add a lot of noise and we have only lost 2 mpg.
Could try letting your pressures down to increase contact, unfortunately have to carry a small pump?
We did drop them right down but made no difference unfortunately, we have a onboard pump for this 👍
Message Gadget John he may have the answer to you guys getting stuck same van
Thanks for the video guys, looks like you had a great time! Can’t wait to get my Boxer finished and on adventures.
Hi! Great video! Cab I ask, did you use 1.5mm or 2.5mm channel?
Hi Gav it is all 1.5 light duty to try and keep the weight down 👍
@our.van.adventures thanks for the info! Just finished making homemade brackets for our relay, so we can proceed with the frame now! Thanks for your help
Just found your channel. Amazing job! Been trying to workout my solar panel fitment for ages. This is amazing and the way you show and explain is great. Can I ask where you got all the corner fitments for joining the unistut at the corners and the ones for across? Will be watching your other videos tomorrow. 😊
Thank you! All of the Unistrut and parts were from direct channel, the corner ones are flat 90 degree plates and the centre ones are tee plates 👍
@Our.van.adventures Sorry for late reply. Honestly you have solved me a v sore head with this info and video. I have been going back and forward trying to decide what to do with the roof rack and your video has made the decision for me. My van is the H3 version so not a lot on the market when it comes to low profile roof rack and your version hits the right buttons for me. I'm off to order the parts and thanks again. 😊
*Promo SM* 🌟
I live in Cornwall lovely place all so just started youtube and just given you guys a follow
Thanks for the follow, look forward to watching some of your videos 🤙
Im assuming you have the heavy rated chassis on your van, which is why you have 16 inch steel rims. If the steel rims are the 130 PCD they have some resale value because people want one for a spare tyre. I've got an ex ambulance L4H3 because I'm tall. That comes with the larger 130 PCD alloys and no spare wheel. Luckily I managed to get a heavily scratched alloy wheel for the spare but they are rare as hens teeth in 130 PCD. It still wasn't cheap. The standard are 118 PCD. If they are the 130 PCD, list your old steel wheels on ebay for about £60 each (pick up only) and leave the old tyres on. If your rear tyres have more tread add an extra £10 on each of those.
Thanks, yes ours is a L4 “heavy” we did see the 16 inch wheels are more rare. We will hold onto them for the time being as a spare set as you never know 👍
Love the wheels guys , exactly the ones I'm getting on my boxer . 16 inch from 15inch as I have the L3 H2. What was the exact tyre specs guys? They make the van look rugged and aggressive. Thinking of doing my bonnet matt black plastidip and plastidip the side trims as well as it can peel off if you change your mind. Maybe a n dimetic door led rain gutter in black
Thanks Lee our tyres are 225 75 16, Matt black bonnet sounds good. The only thing plastidip doesn’t last too long.
Hi woher habt ihr die HeckFenster, habt ihr einen link
Cracking job on the rear window pods and the alloys look banging. Raptor if your going for the rugged look 👍🏻
Cheers mate, yeah definitely going to get some raptor on there 👍
You're lucky that Albie just found a stick on the beach. My dog brought me back a dead fish last time! 🤢
He was a bit fishy after so think it was seaweed 😂 glad it wasn’t a fish though
Don't put yourselves down; I'd be like a deer in headlights trying to film a vlog! One thing though: get a microphone with some sort of wind protection. I used to make films with drama groups and viewers are very forgiving of video quality issues, but dodgy sound can be very off-putting.
Thanks for the advice, since filming this we have upgraded our kit so we have a proper mic now so hopefully the will get better 👍
Hi Guys. Just come across your channel and watched this video. We haven't done St Ives yet but that campsite looks really good. We will be following you guys and we've subscribed. Pop over and check us out if you want. A&B.x
Thanks guys looking forward to catching up watching your past episodes 😊
Looks amazing got to try Cornwall for a winter break 😀
It's more than worth it especially if you like beaches. I live in Cornwall and it's worth coming down here.
Van looks good
Thank you 🙏
Your van looks well sorted and the colour on your units looks great. Thanks for the useful links as I'm still in the slow process of my build 👍🏻
Thanks Peter we look forward to seeing yours 😃
