How to reset the ecu on 1997 Honda civic
Просмотров 81 тыс.4 года назад
Did your check engine light come on for no reason, or did you just install some aftermarket parts and the light happened to turn on? Either way, resetting your ECU is an easy place to start looking for a solution. *There are several reasons why you may need to reset your car's Engine Control Unit (ECU). If your fuel economy suddenly declines, resetting the ECU can at least provide a temporary f...
Pcv valve replacement on 1997 Honda civic
Просмотров 74 тыс.4 года назад
The PCV valve is designed to take the blow-by gas produced from constant crankshaft activity back into your intake manifold to prevent blow-by gas from leaking into the atmosphere. If your PCV valve gets stuck or doesn't function properly, it can cause pressure build up inside your engine and low idle resulting in engine vibration, terrible gas mileage and white smoking coming out of the exhaust.

    You're also killing your engine with that Hot Air Intake connected to your throttle body. All your doing when you shut the hood and drive is sucking up hot engine bay heat. This throws off your map and Mas air sensors causing leaning out your fuel mixture. This causes engine stress. I'd fix this first and see if your white smoke stops.

    Replace the tube, grommet, plastic piece and O Ring that connects to the Breather Box. Clean out and seal the Breather box too! Trust me, HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! I have a 95 Honda Del Sol and Never did this... Better response, better gas mileage, zooms better and just more horse power! Before it was sluggish, wasn't breathing right etc... It's easy to get to on these cars. Pay your mechanic to do it... buy parts from Honda. Its' worth it!

  • @rejn1420

    OK you can’t clean them blow ‘in the big hard stuff off of it Doesn’t do anything for the filter. If you’re going to make a video at least do it right. I do like that you showed how to pull it out that one was way in there and it’s always fun to see the crap fall out but have your part ready to go back in on the video. Yes a little door struggle is real. It really can be that hard to put back on. It’s gonna be hell getting that filter out of there next time. And what did you take the side panel off for? It was kind of fun watching somebody who had no idea what they were doing make a video of doing something to show other people how to do it. It’s like they say those that need to learn become teachers.😂❤

    Sir you are not addressing your real problem. Even at the beginning you defined your problem as "white smoke" and oil consumption, which is what this particular product is designed to address, is a bluish color and black smoke, at least on gasoline engines is usually a fuel issue or too rich. I've used this and several similar products from other companies with mostly positive results. Sometimes we allow a problem to progress too far and we expect not just a mechanic in a can but a miracle in a can. Do a pressure check on your coolant system and I think you will find a solution. Also, if this were oil smoke you should be burning oil at a pretty good rate between changes.

  • @peternilsson4359
    @peternilsson4359 Год назад

    You will get higher oil consumption with thicker oil if you have low tension piston rings. Even a high risk off sludge buildup between the piston and the ring. The result is blowby

    • @larryhurley2314
      @larryhurley2314 Год назад

      Clueless aren't you ? Running a thicker oil doesn't cause more consumption. It's been the direct opposite. You in need to do some research since you obviously don't have a clue.

    A lot of these rebuild in a can additives do actually help in some cases, at least to get you by for a while, but they are not instant by any means. You need to give it a couple thousand miles to help motor internals. I'll take your word for the smoke, it isn't very much, but if it is white that is usually coolant. Oil smoke is a richer blue and hangs in the air. You can't miss it. Take off your oil cap and see how much smoke if any comes from the oil hole. People want instant gratification. Patience is a virtue. Hey, 3 years later - what were your results after 1 2 3 years? That will be a better test.
