U S Media Tribute to Highway of Heroes
Просмотров 537 тыс.11 лет назад
I initially uploaded this to RUclips Nov 11, 2008 under my sudo account. I've decided to close out the sudo account, so I'm re-uploading it to my own account. U.S. news rarely pays attention to news from Canada, but a touching tribute by Canadians to it's fallen war heroes has caught the attention of the U.S. media.

We love you Canada, don't you forget that. We adore you and we have so much pride for our neighbors up north.
There is actually a song about it by the band the trews call highway of hero’s
Her son is not only a Canadian hero but an American hero as well because Canada is not an Ally that's too impersonal their family.
Inspired by stories of the "Highway of Heroes," Canadian rock band The Trews wrote an excellent tribute song with that title.
I’ve watched this a few times a year for a decade now and I cry every time I watch it.
We don't honor a flag or a god. We honor the PEOPLE that give us a good place to live in. That is OUR patriotism. Something REAL. Not a piece of cloth or an intangible being. Maybe that is one reason why we have that fewer crazies and ranters per capita than some overly nationalist countries.
We are free because of their sacrifice. God bless
Lest we forget.
I'm so proud to be a Canadian. Regardless of our leader, regardless of whatever social issues are going on, we're a resilient group of strong people. We always get back up and support each other.
I maybe a proud Canadian and have a huge respect for the Canadian Military but that extends to the American Military as well. My boyfriend was a Sergeant in the US Army (he’s now Retired). Both country’s troops have one thing in common, they fight and sacrifice themselves for their country so that they can keep us safe. They’ve seen indescribable horrors that we can only begin to fathom and we won’t know what those truly are until we’ve experienced them for ourselves. They are our heroes. They paid their price for freedom. May God watch over them, protect them, and keep them safe. For those who died in combat while serving, they died a hero’s death. They died by fighting for us and protecting our freedom. May God continue to watch over them in Heaven. Thank you to all of the men and women who have served or are continuing to serve our countries. Thank you for continuing to fight for our freedom to protect us and keep us safe. Thank you for sacrificing your lives for us. Whether you’re in the Canadian or American Military, you are all the true heroes.
I am Canadian. And I love my neighbours to the south. Never had a single person do anything wrong to me in the USA. light ribbing. Some jokes all around. The USA is the Greatest country on Earth.
They protect us all, and nobody acknowledges it.
"Never was so much owed by so many to so few" was a wartime speech made by the British prime minister Winston Churchill on 20 August 1940.
Thank you, Canada
Reason why I enlisted
I wear a poppy proudly every day of the year for our troops, it's the least I can do. Nothing would make me happier than joining their ranks someday and being a part of our proud military history.
Canada is a nation ALL nations can follow are a teacher of how to honer your hero's coming back from home for the last time . Signed by an American Vet !!!
It warms my heart and gives me solace in the face of unimaginable loss that the mother of a young private lost in combat takes comfort from her fellow citizens showing up to pay respects and recognition to one of their own. I wish everyone a peaceful and reflective Remembrance Day.
I often think how Americans should do this as well. I watch videos of that crazy wbc protests and it makes me sick. I would think something like those would be louder than their hate...
woot! Cobourg! awesome!
Amazing. Wish I could d more where I am but it's never publicized. Shame.
the Canadian government should look after the war vets for life. It is bullshit that most of them end up living on the streets
This video alwayd gets me... i miss my friends
America’s Gallant Soldiers Poem By: David O. Melton America’s gallant soldiers Serve to keep America free, And some pay freedom’s highest cost And die protecting you and me These valiant men and women Whose mortal bodies now lay still, In death earned the greatest honor Herald by a lone bugler’s skill Because they preserve our nation Chosen honor guards stand abreast, While a lone bugle sounds out taps For each great soldier laid to rest Yet far greater than all these things Beyond the stones of marble white, Behold God’s tribute of honor That’s shining eternally bright Greater love has no one than this, To lay down one’s life for one’s friends, This honor is proclaimed by God Over everything it transcends Now honor our gallant soldiers Who under freedom’s banner fall, Soldiers who had to leave loved ones And made sacrifices for all Uplift their hurt and grieving child Left to long suffer and travail, Each soldier’s widow and orphan Greatly needs our help to prevail Let our nation and our people Honor all sacrifices made, Now honor our gallant soldiers And our sacred freedoms they saved
USA & CANADA FOR EVER. THANK YOU TO THE FALLEN. LEST WE FORGET.

Salute to all the men and women who had served in the Canadian Army. Condolence from your Alaskan brother.
Gees Alaskan ? you are more like us than the rest of the states, and thank you sir.
Your welcome too we feel a special kinship since both us live in the coldest place in the world.
RIP to my cousin Aaron E Williams. KIA by an IED on April 8th, 2008
I remember a few years ago it had snowed and i was going to my sisters to plough her driveway with my ATV,, I came to a bridge on the highway of heros and there wer 4 very old vets trying to shovel the banks that the snowplough had pushed up against the guard rails, I ask them what was going on ,,they looked exhausted , they said they were waiting for a soldier to come by, I took my snow plough and cleaned it out for them, on my way back there were about 15 men there all in uniform holding there flags up high
Was bless you! Bless those tireless hero's
Razzors thanks.
thank you sir your the way people should be always willing to help someone out if there in need
The father and son in the rusty brown truck , they made her day !
I live really close to one of the bridges, and since I've been young my parents would take me down every time someone came home.
My hat off to you and you parents
Canada, I salute you in the way you honor your heroes.
As a Canadian, I salute you sir, for being so genuinely kind.
+Len Martin Thank you Mr. Martin. greetings and hello from Jakarta, Indonesia.
they put us to shame the respect they show there
So often we drive a wedge between us but if we can all stop once in a while and each swallow our pride, we will come to realize that we can learn so much from each other. Thinking about my brother from another mother to the south. Peace ✌
Too bad they left out the initial 'ramp' ceremony in Kandahar for the fallen soldier. Incredibly moving. Standing ramrod straight on the tarmac as a civilian behind our military men and women listening to the bag pipes, watching his mates load him(them) onto a C130 for the ride home...never felt so Cdn as I did on that far away tarmac.
i live in ontario i am so proud to have the highway of heros everytime somebody that supportes my country i go and watch that just shows that i support them
Canada is totally crushing the internet today.
