My opinion is in sync with your's sir, Vacation shouldn't be in a familiar place with familiar people from one's past life or a travel saddled with business or investment functions...Vacation should be solely for fun-fare and rejuvenating from accumulated stress and not acquiring more in the process.
To the best of my subjective opinion, It remains a vacation if one travels to one's home country only if it is not precisely to places one is acquitted with. It could be to a part of ones birth country that one has longed to visit and enjoy all of the fun and relaxation it has to offer. Else, to me, it is not a vacation, but simply a visitation.
