Swivels are a joke. I can tie an imp clinch in virtually the same amount of time it takes to fasten a quality clip. Really no need for the barrel unless you're using something that's going to twist line.

It's just one more thing to fail. Need high quality swivels or a big bass gonna bend it open.

This only really matters if you’re fishing for small fish. If you’re fishing for pike, muskey, walleye, etc. then just save yourself the time and put on the swivel. A good 8 inch leader never hurt either.

The main reason is because the rig slides down to the head when on a swivel

Cabela's is not that cheep well for me. If you got enough reels and rods you know what you need to match up. My Telescope South bend Eclipse rod I got rid of the reel and put a favorite balance reel on it now good to go.

I've been using a baitcaster for catfish on my Ugly stick catfish rod is different but work great. Because I've used a spinning reels for to long. 8 month now and getting better. I want 30 reel's like that. I get the stuff on sale like my new Proficiency mint for $16.89 on clearance at sportsman's where house and a Shimano FX Aroglass rod for $17.99 medium power fast Action rod. Is hard not to get clearance sale 50%off. Trying to save money.

To me is about the Drag on them what I'm going to use it for my 500 to 1,000 2,000 size reel for trout fishing and Bass 3,000 to 4,000 size reel and and 5000 size reel and bigger for catfish. A 2000 reel can have 8 lbs Drag and the other 2000 will have 15 lbs of drag just matter what brand of reels.

I like to use a mono leader when using braid. I like the little stretch the mono gives when I set the hook. I believe I don’t rip the hooks out of their lip as often.

This is smart for measuring the distance of your line when you go out trolling or drop rigging. Alternate colors every 10 feet and you’ll know exactly how much line you have out.

If you're using a swivel for a spinnerbait you're a lunatic. And if you dont use one for inline spinners, youre arguably even more of a lunatic 🤣 Swivels have their places, and on a spinnerbait is not one of them. They literally come with the only swivels they need.

What do u use as for a underline? like steel or something, cause otherwise every time a pike or musky devours your lure you will lose 20 bucks

If your bass fishing I'd recommend just directly tying it to any lure you use

new to fishing - I assumed most rods came with the lowest quality fishing line? maybe $200-300+ rods I'd expect to have good line on but anything under $100 I'd assume is cheap. trying to decide if this company is legit or just makes fun looking products. I have the same collapsible rod and it works pretty well so far, don't know what I'm going to buy for a full length rod and reel

i just picked on of these up for creek hopping and honestly had no problems with the 6 pound line on it also i wouldnt go higher than 8 pound test with this little rod cuz you risk it snapping caught a 10 pound wiper on it the other day

I have an excursion but the older one with full cork handle. I think I paid $10 at walmart. It's my go to set up I keep in the truck/car. I like it.

With nice silty water

I use a line conditioning spray on a rag and slowly reel it in while letting the line slide between the rag and every 10-20ft give the spool a spray. Works way better.
