This channel used to be videos of my matches from BJJ Tournaments in Ireland, but I am old and lazy now, and spend my time recording guitar covers of songs I like.
Therapy? - Screamager Guitar Cover
One of my favourite bands of all time, and a huge part of the soundtrack to my life. I just saw Therapy? on the 30th anniversary tour of Troublegum a few months ago (you can see the vinyl copy I bought at the show in the background). I've been playing songs from this album nearly as long as I've been playing guitar. As far as I am concerned, the Gibson SG is as synonymous with Andy Cairns, as it is with Angus Young :)
Anyway, I recorded this using the following gear:
2006 Gibson SG Standard
Reaper DAW
Helix Native (modelling a JCM 800 and a Boss Chorus pedal)
Moises app (to remove the original guitars and create a backing track)

Black Keys - Your Touch Guitar Cover
Просмотров 5121 день назад
A simple, yet great, song from the Back Keys, which I will forever associate with Kenny Powers and Eastbound & Down. Don't have a clue about the solo - it's more feedback than anything which I attempted to recreate without a cranked tube amp feeding back. As usual, I've taken the original song, stripped out the guitars and recorded myself. Gear used: - Yamaha Revstar - Helix Native - Reaper DAW...
Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 Guitar Cover
Просмотров 61228 дней назад
This is a guitar cover of 1979 - just a great song from 1995. Billy Corgan turned 12 in 1979, and I turned 12 in 1995 so it struck a chord with me on release, and it had a brilliant music video as well. The guitar parts aren't especially difficult, but the layers and production of the song interested me a lot. Before really looking into the song, I wasn't aware of some of the layers going on. T...
Gibson Hummingbird Standard - Celtic Fingerstyle

The piece is from a Guitar Techniques article on Celtic Fingerstyle playing. The guitar is from 2023 and is recorded into the yeti microphone you can see in the shot.
Gojira - Stranded Guitar Cover
Просмотров 1205 месяцев назад
I don't know about you but the Olympics opening ceremony set me off on a massive Gojira kick. I've been learning some of their riffs and I had a dusty whammy pedal so Stranded was the only choice. It's a really fun song and quite accessible after a little bit of practice. I used the Moises app (even the free version is really good) to take the original FLAC file and remove the guitars. All the ...
Tool Stinkfist Guitar Cover
Просмотров 7966 месяцев назад
It's a guitar cover of Stinkfist. I used a guitar-less backing track and all the guitar you hear is me (apart from the feedback at very start). That's a Gibson Les Paul Smartwood I bought in 1999. I have a HX Stomp going straight into my interface and I recorded with Reaper.
Refused - New Noise Guitar Cover
Просмотров 104Год назад
The greatest release of 1998! I played The Shape of Punk to Come to death, and I still do. It's an all timer great album for me. I discovered the Moises app, and used it to create this cover. The guitars are me but the bass/drums/synth/vox are from the original recording. The video is a recording of the guitar track in the centre. For the most part, there's a L R guitar but a few overdubs (e.g....
Pink Floyd - Time Guitar Solo Cover
Просмотров 1183 года назад
Learned this classic solo over the past few evenings. Tried something different and you’re hearing the audio from my phone. Hugely satisfying solo - some of the 3 step bends are a challenge to get right consistently. Gear used: G&L Legacy Axe IO Solo Neural DSP Gojira (such a good plug in) JBL 305P Monitors iPhone
Turnstile - Holiday Guitar Cover

Only discovered these guys and Glow On is a strong contender for AOTY already. I got kinda obsessed by Holiday so had to record a rough cover. The most fun with bar chords I've had since the grunge days. Gear: ESP Eclipse w/ EMG 81 Neural DSP Gojira Reaper Axe I/O Tuning: D
Carcass - Corporal Jigsore Quandary - Guitar Cover
Просмотров 2353 года назад
Carcass are one of my favourite bands and Bill Steer is one of my guitar heroes. I have fond memories of endlessly spinning Necroticism and Heartwork in the mid-to-late 90s, but I never got to see them until 2007 when I travelled to Leeds to catch them on a reunion tour. This was especially great as Ken Owen was in the balcony as a 'guest of honour', being unable to rejoin the band due to his m...
At The Gates - Blinded By Fear - Guitar Cover (D Tuning)
Просмотров 5423 года назад
This is just a classic track from a legendary band. I don't have the strings to tune down to B, so I recorded in D. Not unheard of - I think The Haunted play E flat when they cover it live. Guitar - ESP Eclipse w/ EMG 81 Recorded on Reaper with Amplitube 4 via the IK Multimedia Axe I/O Solo. I used the Mesa Mark IV amp for everything. All guitars are me - there's multiple tracks going on so the...

Well done, mate! Check my cover if you're interested
Thank you - I went to check out your version and turns out I’d previously watched it 😂 I ended up watching some Battles stuff instead this time (nice!). I like the variety of things you cover. Cheers!
🔥
His voice sounds different 🎉 btw nice
Thanks! Maybe the Moises app stripped out something from the original recording that makes it sound different.
Very good! I’m learning this song right now
@@AidanPlaysGuitar- thank you - it’s a fun song to learn & play. A true classic.
!! Keep It up my friend and keep it up :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@ApCommunityRock Cheers AP
Sick guitar and sick cover!
@@futmaus9478 thanks so much!
Nice play through. Good timing. You can use a quarter to rub the higher strings to get that noise in the bridge section, then play the half step notes on higher strings/lower frets rather than hammering on to let the dissonance ring out like on the album.
@@TheN8w thanks for this. I saw other people using a coin, I will try it. I have these elixir coated strings on this guitar and pick scrapes and other noises don’t sound “right” so I omitted some of that here.
Beast, keep it up dude sounds good
@@andrearsenault69 thank you, appreciate the comment!
Well played 🤙
Cheers, thank you
2 days ago? People are still listening to the shape of punk to come?
Yeah, why not?
@@Rochenstein I mean no it’s cool, just shocked
@@SelFreeLions I’m sure I can’t be the only one - it was a pretty influential album and the band got back together in recent years. I picked it up on release but people still discover the classics. It was featured quite a few times on the soundtrack to The Bear, which was cool too.

Did you continue with bjj, where are you at now?
I got my blue belt in this year (2014) and continued to train regularly until 2016. Life stuff happened and I train a little less regularly but still training. In 2018, I had a knee injury that required surgery and I fell off after that. I’d like to get back to training but realistically, it will be in a more casual way. I would be happy to train twice per week and hope to slow roll my way to belt promotions. My knees are not good so I will need to be careful to supplement with strengthening exercises.
@@Rochenstein Okey alright well yea hope you're able to get back into it casually then, yea rehab training those knees in the gym and getting back into bjj at your own pace, hope it works out for you all the best.

Yes, that’s it
love people commenting here "should do that and that!" or "why he did that?" ... Man, it's easy to say that behind the keyboard. Try your luck on the mat. Oof I forgot, you're all black belts 😏
Thats my category!!
Way to rock it!
only won cause of coaching
Well done! You've got the tone perfect. 👏
Thank you!

Great match!! Loved watching the back-and-forth. That was a fantastic triangle at the end! Solid work by both competitors.
I saw the Melvins in 06 on the same tour! But it was just porn, big business and melvins
That's awesome. When I saw them, Flipper's singer's voice was shot. Krist Novoselic was giving him shush gestures when he tried to talk to the crowd between songs. So maybe it got even worse and they pulled out of the tour.
Great battle!
Lol white belts are funny
!!hey hey sup my friend preaty cool video you make here !! don't give up on your good work see u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice
Should have gone high guard and got the um bur
This is why you respect the collar grip.
One guy getting advice from the coach is not fair.
Hello My Dear :D !! Hey My friend that a really cool video !! keep rock my friend !! see you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Must've been an easy win having Connor Mcgregor coaching you.
Why the white belt without any stripe could be so technical and experienced ?
Some academies don't care about stripes, at least at white belt...
Props to anyone who competes. It's a whole different feeling to regular rolling.
Why you didn’t go for the urm bur?
Blue should've been taking pointers from black gi coach haha
Great side assist and great challenge for both
What are the weight ranges for these two? The winner looks HUGE. But then again I'm in the USA.
This is a lightweight match so 167.5lbs in the gi (76kg).
Agreed, he looked a lot heavier and he used it well to pass and get side control.
@@Rochenstein o
wow. He hand fed you that triangle by pulling his arm out. Either way, great job!
I hate when I'm down by tree.
That's some good coaching from the corner right there.
Just realized watching white belts is way more beneficial than watching higher belts roll for me as a white belt.
Lol,. the guy in blue purposely pulled his own arm out and give the guy the triangle.
Nah, I think he thought he could do a pressure pass
nice shoulder lock, check my channel out
philupp!
Lesson #1 Don't atack from the guard.
