The Power Foods Diet with Dr. Neal Barnard | Plant Based Nutrition of Wisconsin
An evidence-based, food-as-medicine protocol for kickstarting weight loss and keeping it off.
It turns out that, when properly chosen, certain foods cause weight loss, with no need for the deprivation and planning that most weight-loss regimens require. These breakthroughs make weight loss easy, without calorie counting or deprivation. Dr. Barnard’s diet encourages people to eat, not to stop eating, and reveals that some of the foods we think are good for us can actually be harmful and pass easily into body fat and overstay their welcome.

    Sooo……. I lost and have maintained 115 lbs on a high fat and moderate protein diet. I cut all processed foods, including sugars and flours. Cholesterol, A1C, blood lipids, etc… are well within the optimal range. I guess… just remember there are many roads to health. Also, Olive Oil, Avocado and nuts are a daily trifecta of mine. Again cholesterol is optimal.

    Definitely true for me about olive oil increasing LDL. Twice I added olive oil to my diet (no replacement) to meet higher caloric demands from returning to the gym after some time off. Both times it raised my LDL from around 90 to about 120 mg/dL.

      @jakubchrobry3701 Месяц назад

      @@polibm6510 I not scared of LDL. It is needed in our body. But too much of it increases the risk of atherosclerosis. The evidence for this is vast and has not been overturned. Mendelian randomized studies is the best evidence for this. Why do you believe a bunch of keto YT influencers that typically have a background chiropractic alternative medicine (pseudoscience)? Why don't you understand that you can have too little or too much of something, like vitamins. Vitamin A is essential, but too much of it is toxic. If you are going to troll a plant-based channel, you better bring the goods. Please provide some evidence that high levels of LDL over decades can not cause atherosclerosis or does not contribute to atherosclerosis. Joe Rogan said so is not evidence. Or admit it increases the risk.

      @@polibm6510 Scared? I consume olive oil to boost my LDL to 120 mg/dL. What do you eat to increase your LDL? How high have you gotten it to? 400 mg/dL? I see fans of a chiropractor (can't remember his name) brag about getting their LDL as high as possible on a keto diet. Some over 600. Unfortunately, a lot of satuated fat from lard and tallow gives me indigestion, so I have to settle for olive oil and only 120 mg/dL.

      @@jakubchrobry3701 I don't care about my LDL. Why I should? And btw: olive oil is not polyunsaturated, but still monounsaturated... Try a butter.

      @jakubchrobry3701 Месяц назад

      @@polibm6510 I never claimed that olive oil contains much polyunsaturated fat. Btw, it's 10.5% by weight. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about me. I'm scared. How much PUFA's I believe are in olive oil. You got any more assumptions? Also, butter is 51.4% saturated fat by weight. As I already said, saturated fat gives me indigestion, that especially includes butter which makes me sick to my stomach.

    I hate to say this, but I think you need to be made aware that you gave off the impression of being very arrogant the way you are answering the questions. You showed no empathy for others. You seem to feel it isn't worth your time to answer questions. You don't open your mouth wide when you talk, you garbled some words, and you give short curt answers. Watch Dr Neal Barnard. He shows humility, kindness and compassion towards viewers. I had difficulty listening to your audiobook of How Not to Age. I wish you had someone else read it.

    Compound in red meat kills cancer. It's called Trans Vaccenic Acid 1. Study: Trans-vaccenic acid reprograms CD8+ T cells and anti-tumour immunity Publication: Nature Year: 2023 DOI: 10.1038/s41586-023-06749-3 Findings: TVA inactivates the GPR43 receptor, leading to activation of the cAMP-PKA-CREB pathway, enhancing CD8+ T cell function against tumors. 2. Study: Trans-vaccenic acid inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells via a mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis pathway Publication: Lipids in Health and Disease Year: 2019 DOI: 10.1186/s12944-019-0993-8 Findings: TVA decreased p-Akt levels and Bad phosphorylation, leading to apoptosis through a mitochondrial-mediated pathway in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. 3. Study: Trans-11 18:1 Vaccenic Acid (TVA) Has a Direct Anti-Carcinogenic Effect on MCF-7 Human Mammary Adenocarcinoma Cells Publication: Nutrients Year: 2014 DOI: 10.3390/nu6020627 Findings: TVA exhibited a direct anti-carcinogenic effect on MCF-7 human breast cancer cells, suggesting potential as a chemopreventive agent. 4. Study: Trans vaccenic acid (trans-11 18:1), a precursor of cis-9, trans-11-conjugated linoleic acid, exerts a direct anti-carcinogenic function in T47D breast carcinoma cells Publication: Journal of the Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistry Year: 2014 DOI: 10.1007/s10068-014-0087-3 Findings: TVA demonstrated a direct anti-carcinogenic effect on T47D breast cancer cells, independent of its conversion to conjugated linoleic acid. These studies collectively show that TVA can activate various molecular pathways or mechanisms that contribute to cancer cell death or enhanced immune response against cancer. The mechanisms include T cell activation, apoptosis induction, and direct anti-carcinogenic effects on specific cancer cell lines.
