Co parenting doesn't make you a single dad. Raising a child completely on your own as a man makes you a single dad. You're a great dad and you happen to be single.

First date with a single dad, he says to me, “I’m a dad and that mean you are gonna take a back seat to me and my child. And if you have a problem with that, there’s the door!!” Why I decided to seeing this guy is beyond me. I should have asked, “So you told me the cost of dating you, what are the benefits. Haha, Im actually a single father. And I have this fling with a girl, and I realise a lot of these red flags in me, like i take her for granted, Im not ready to be in a relationship etc. I'm working on letting her go, because i need time to heal before i enter into something serious. Im from a broken family and I have dealt with difficult step-moms. So I promised that when God ever gives me a man with kids, i’d be the best step-mom ever! I'm dating a widowed dad and his youngest, 19 years old is a high school drop out with mental health troubles and doesn't work. He allows the adult to sit home all day watching TV and the idea is that somehow the kid will get it together and move on. I'm seeing more 30 year old adults who haven't moved out because the parent doesn't address accountability on the kids life to move forward. There are always conversations about things will change but it's been 1.5 years and no change with getting a GED or job training. He wants to move into a house with me and I'm confident the youngest will be there too for the long haul. I don't want to get older with an adult child depending on me if dad were to get sick and pass on. 😭

You don’t have to be this attractive dude or be on dating apps to find a women. Go to healthy outings and events and be your self 100% stay genuine don’t stood low and negative energy as in being a play boy or me H bag w P*** be who you are and life will bring you the one who can be who they are to you. Married for 12 years. Raised my daughters for 9 years and one for 7. I see them every other weekend. Currently living alone and I go thru this every week at least one time. Cry, consider ending it all, giving up on them and starting all over but then when I do see them, my reason to keep going is rekindled. Stay strong brothers. I guarantee it will be worth it in the end.

Yet if men say we want nothing to do with a single mother, or a single mother who has multiple kids from multiple men, we are supposed to suck it up because we're sexist if we don't. Finally! some guy being honest out here about things...ok this was four years ago at around 7:00 min he sounds like someone who hasn't dated anyone since the mom yet...lol like this heifer hasn't been tested by a new woman...and things between you two could be just fine, but when a new woman comes around, with a schedule that also needs dad's taking into consideration, then there could be real problems, or the baby momma's anger and insecurities could come out since it looks like dad moved on and has someone new...

Thank you for that I'm dating a single dad he has a great job but struggling financially at the moment because he helped his good friend's dad's hospitalization and supporting his kid on his own, but from all your lists he doesn't have those qualities, he' s a great man, very reapectful, doesn't say bad about his ex despite the fact that she doesnt support their child eversince, and most of all he is the only man who treated me well he makes time for me everyday even of he's tired at work and he also treat my family and friends with respect.

Seeking some clarity here, or a confirmation for running into a bad person. I went out to a date with a single dad for the first time in my life. The date was sweet, but he made physical advances pretty early into the meeting and we ended up having it. I told him it wasn’t all that I wanted and he said it won’t be. The following days, he sent good morning texts but hardly checked in with me, saying he was overwhelmed with his new job training. Only a week later, he had extended visitation for 7 weeks of his three children and our communication suffered. Not to mention we were not able to see each other for that entire 7 wk period. (Currently it’s wk 5, if he is telling me the truth and not lying about this visitation thing.) He said he wanted to see me again but was overwhelmed with new job training and kids and would understand if it doesn’t work for me, which sounded to me as if he wanted me to leave him alone. (Or maybe I took it too sensitively? I don’t know) I confronted him, saying that all he wanted was to hook up and call it a day and that he had no manners towards me for leaving my texts unanswered frequently. He didn’t respond to my texts and I feel like the connection is now completely lost. Am I acting too sensitively or do his actions stir feelings of mistrust? I did not expect him to go on a full-time dad mode only a week after our first date. I also texted him to ask when his custody would be over, but that was left unanswered and he didn’t want to show me his kids’ photo.

The only and most important reason you shouldn’t date a single dad is if you are childless. But if you have kids, have at it lol. Kids DO always come first because they are more needy than anybody else. Another awkward fact is that, they have already created a legacy with someone else. Kinda hard to look past. Also one thing men will never admit that is true-they ALWAYS have feelings for the baby mamas. They birthed their mini me, how can they not always have feelings for that person? And i know eventually the new partner can do the same but they have to share that place with someone else forever. I’d rather be the only one who holds that position with someone. But i understand this isn’t an option for everybody.

I got bumped anytime kids came into picture. So if i make plans w him + his ex decides she cant/ eont take kids even tho its her designated day but hell say yes to her which now robs us of having aline time. He has kids every fucking weekend while his ex is childfree every wkend so she has every wkend w her bf alone. Hes had his kids 4 straight wekends in a row so we dont have the freedom to have a date. His ex told him you can spend time w your gf during the week meaning after 12 hr work days yst this bitch can have every wkebd alone w her man, well rested. Its BS.

I'm a single mom of one son. I have np putting effort into dating as in talking-wise. I have a hard time freedom-wise. It's possible to be successful. However, it's just more effort to try and balance it all which can be exhausting and that's when I will need some time for myself. It is like a juggling act.

it's harder than being lonely, because you aren't actually alone. it's so frequently very lonely, but also constantly demanding in a way that being alone isn't. being alone would be way, way easier. but I've made my choice, I'll sacrifice my entire life for my child if it's what is required
