New year 2022 approaching update.... The remainder is installing the unfinished oak floor, building a custom pantry, installing unfinished treads, risers and a lot of nail filling on trim, caulking, painting all the trim and the tiling of the first floor shower from floor to ceiling. I have blown thru a bunch more money and added to my debt to get the flooring I have yet to install. I am struggling to motivate myself on a daily basis for some reason and need to figure out how to change that part of myself. I, have accomplished a lot this year though working full time, having my daughter full time and helping my parents out with meals and whatever they need. I am just a few things on my list away from a certtificate of occupancy...the critical items being the finish stairs with handrail and that downstairs shower...sounds easy, but there's a lot of work for all the in between daily life tasks. I'll be posting new videos as I progress into floor, stairs, and shower tiling.

storage drawer mounting rail assembly done.

The part that I pulled and slid back towards the drawer is my simple mounting rail for this storage drawer I will be installing under the folding table in mycombination bathroom/ laundry room that I will use much like a medicine cabinet for all the miscellaneous items or overstock I have that won't fit in my medicine cabinet...general house storage/medicines/whatever. I plan on putting some div...
My new little friend

My new little friend that's coming around about 6pm every day. I've been putting out my table scraps and had trail camera out to find out who's been getting them. This is who for the most part. Pepe' Le Pew a couple times and a few stray cats others. This is old faithful though. I need to come up with a name. I may build a box and put in the window sill so it can come up and have dinner with us...

A circa. 1870's slant front secretary that looks to be cherry or rosewood with burl walnut veneered panels. It needs some TLC as it's ad stated that I found it in...the gallery is in fair condition that I'll likely just clean thoroughly and reapply the knob that falls off one of it's drawers, replace the felt desk and reattach the back panel. The pulls are all there minus 1 ring and 2 that need...

The little details count. Being able to make them compact in the drawer means a lot to some people. I like things organized...not just piled up and the other brands from no name to bigger names just don't do what is so simple to do....keep them shut. Imagine if your scissors had springs that kept them open...wouldn't you like a way to keep them closed if for not safety, but for just organizatio...
DAYBETTER SMD 5050 LED light strip 20 foot

I purchased this off Amazon...just looked up the price and it's 11.99 on there now. I cut less than a foot off which covers this soffit from end to end 100%. It has adhesive tape that sticks well to a semigloss paint. I think this will really look cool at nighttime when the lights are off in the living room or kitchen. Now I have to sit for a few and read the directions on how to cycle thru all...

Kohler cast iron shower pan, Danze/Gerber thermostatic valve and diverted valves and a Grohe body massager. I had missed this diverter valve I added today in my plumbing rough-in because I'm no plumber and assumed that the thermostatic valve would also control on off. when I put water to it....the shower head flowed nonstop with no way to shut it off short of turning all water supply off. Sweat...

I installed this today solo. The only hiccup was the top brackets the the upper rail mounts to needed to be trimmed down about 5/8 inch due to the wall bumpers that are embedded in the vertical rails. Not really any big deal, just 2 quick cuts. Install was very straight forward and spelled out clearly minus the modification I mentioned. This thing really looks fantastic. I ift heavy material da...

Finally getting this shower tile going. Prep is important. I made a smacker board so that I can tap the board to flush up all the tiles on their finish face to match. Control lines and a starter board installed here. Thinking out how I want to finish up the niche' and the window returns.

Well drop the clutch see if it will pop
He's a big one. Kinda surprised he's alone.
Not really that big I didn't think...I've seen them 2X this size around dad's next door. This one can pack it in though....I put enough for a person out there for dinner and this little fiend ate every bit of it.
Drawer is actually 8 inches deep with an 1 1/4 above it so the storage drawer will have the capacity to store items 9.5 inches in height with the width of 39 interior x 21 inches I will be installing some dividers in this soon.
That’s git’n er Dunn!!! Looked like fun!!!
It looks nice but I get it not what you purchased.
The point of this video is to show what I purchased was not what I was sold. Big difference when you want the look your after and have to settle for something you didn't pay for or to a much lesser degree. I understand there to be a mix of rift and quartersawn, but they were not even remotely close to the quartersawn and as such it should not be advertised as such and I should have gotten a credit or a replacement. Both of which never happend, just an excuse that's what they get and it's not their fault. Change their product description or it's false advertising is how I view this. I actually re sanded and refinished from what you see here as I had a conflict using an oil based stain (Minwax) in using a water based finish (Bona Traffic HD) even though I was instructed it was compatible...I would not and it peels ever at edges...probably going to be a 3rd refinish at some point, but holding up for a year or better now overall. The refinish aspect is very labor intensive for a single person. I had to re rent sanders and buy additional paper, my time and labor...that alone is another issue. I also based my stain color on a small can I purchased from Lowes, which turned out to be a return and not the color I ultimately purchased when I bought the larger cans to stain with...this whole thing was a jinx from start to finish...just glad it's over for now and holding up....but going water based stain with water based sealer/finish is what I should have done, I should have stopped when I realized the color wasn't right, I should have refused shipment....all my fault in the end.
Floor looks nice to me.
Mini MicroFiber roller
Beautiful work.
Thanks for the heads up, this video saved me from the same issue. I was able to get a 60/40 blend of riff and quartered from Timberline Hardwoods in NY after calling and talking to them.
I tried to resolve it, but they said it that the supplier told them that is what they get and they wouldn't do anything. Not what I was wanting, but was stuck with it at that point short of sitting in some small claims court and getting nowhere with a refund for who knows how long and holding up my floor from getting done. That's the problem with taking low numbers I suppose, but still no guarantee all said and done.
can you paint the whole wall with red guard even if its drywall
Yes, but you should bring it up to a level 2 finish first and wipe down any dust
In cases like this, collect all your evidence, spend $100 dollars and take them to small claims court.... You might be surprised at the results. Sorry to hear you were unhappy with your floors...
Did the stuff dry hard?? I just built 6 canoe boat beds and found this stuff on Amazon. Filled all the beds with it. Don’t seem to be drying. Maybe have to dig out and re fill. 😮 Durham wood filler might work better.
yes it dries hard, like you would expect drywall compound to dry. Sandable. It's not meant to fill giant gaps or depressions....crack filler is what this is. I'd be leary of any thing beyond a 1/4 inch crack to fill.
GoodFilla has a "Trowel Ready" product which is great for floors. If you purchase the Heavy Body filler, make sure it's room temperature (72 deg/F) before you use it.
There are a few other companies now that make similar premium OSB products, Advantech is the gold standard.
💥cool view and thanks for the video. Were your fly rafters the same width as the main rafters on the house.??
I don't remember honestly, but doubt it given the rake exceeded 16 feet.
Great job!!
hey u-tube.....dont count this as a plus. pathetic amateur at best wasting my time. too bad I cant give a negative rating...disorganized amateur
I just looked at these in 2022 and can't believe the sticker price has gone up to over 6K now on these....way too high. Emma is almost 16 and is still riding this machine...tried to talk her into a 570, but she's not interested. I think the next one will wind up being a car given her age and interests changing. You definitely need a good sized piece of land to keep this interesting. I have it spread out over 50 acres almost between my 2 sisters and myself where the place was logged and I cleared out trails thru the woods..probably a couple miles of trails I would say criss-crossing and going all about. Definitely a fun factor for a kid of 10.
I lied, I did them all this evening and I wound up putting the lower drawer pulls centered horizontally on the upper rail. They came out nice. Not sure I am liking so much stainless now...but if it bothers me I can change these out to bronze or something I like with matching centers.
thanks for the video~!
I was quite impressed that it could still remain in a stable/structurally intact condition for years of direct exposure. Just a little swelling, but 80 or more percent intact zero rot.
Damn I've aged a lot since this video...I look a lot older now 10 years later.
Thank you for posting!!! Just bought it!
I think you'll like it, just be careful with the back tray, it's fragile!
Update....clamp your veneer or some other way than just ballast, I just blew a 70 dollar sheet worth of quartered oak veneer...it looks like something I left out in the rain for a month. Totally trashed! Just ordered another sheet and my pressing technique is going to include many clamps and boards across the total surface area so I don't wind up with this 2nd time around...if that doesnt' work....not sure what I am going to do...not having a good day for sure!
Great memories
Congrats on 1k subs
Thanks man I'm about to do mine tomorrow
Looks like you really know what your doing nice JOB
I'm trying to do a nice job...on hold at the moment...digging into the hard wood flooring starting 2/15/2022. I have a challenge ahead for sure to get these 2 things done and done right aesthetically speaking.

Happy Birthday Emma!! Very nice!!
pump jacks suck just the fact that you have to climb a ladder to pump them is dangerous
There is surely dangers that are inherent for sure. I don't know about them sucking as there was no other way to lift the wall up short of having a boom or a crew to help raise it....this is the alternate choice when you don't have either. There's always a btter way when you aren't going solo or without expensive equipment.
Great progress! You're getting there!
Nice tunes!!
Hey buddy which 8" ridgid is it as they have 2 different ones
R4041S model ...go to HD and type that in.
@@13612 thanks buddy I just brought the 7" one now I'm bringing it back for the one u have. I like that drop gate lol
@@delaliy545 The blade that comes with it is decent...I bought another ahead on Amazon for a back up, but the slate I was cutting....I was able to cut literally a sliver thin rip off without it breaking. I was impressed. Still have to do my shower yet....It's a nice saw, the pump looks like it could be the weak link, but they're easy to get.
@@13612 my brutha appreciate that
@@13612 just brought it today
Nice wood!! Gazebo yes. Doghouse no.
I assume that sheathing was plumb with the bottom plate? I would like to raise a wall with sheathing lapping over the bottom plate - can you do this when using the jack?
Definitively....have your wall near edge of exterior when raising. I used short pieces of duct strap screwed to bottom of bottom plate and to floor to prevent kickout...
@@13612 Thanks - Will one jack handle a 2x6 wall - 16 feet long with sheathing attached?
@@johncraig3595 I did 42 feet of wall 10 feet tall with sheathing with 2 of them...I don't see why not if you are well centered....I had base plates and the safety part for the top so it would not cut free and keep going...it's easier the higher it goes or the load is shifting to the floor....I did have 1 of the 2x4's snap on the second long wall about 3 feet up...so don't get under that at any point during the lift!
Good idea!! EARLTASTIC!
Love your saw! Felt like I was there with you!!
You guess. Thanks i guess. Rough day for you but look how well it ended. Happy drywall patching to you!
That part is easy...just a lengthy process in comparison to this...multiple steps to get to a finished state.
That was a lot if work Earl. Good job!
Looks like you’re almost ready to move in. Richard from Virginia
Waiting on guy to connect water and sewer whichis about 10K here...one of the things I have been putting off due to cost and my not having a loan to cover that. Time is the other issue to work on it...I don't get much time to work on it. I should get my C of O this year if I can scrounge up the money for finish trim and the rest of the flooring. Wood is nutty over the top right now in price...
I almost thought I missed this! No Emma, I think this is great!
Good
You stubed noob
I wasn't quick witted enough at the end of the trail hunt when she asked me what it said on the last item in the big egg....I should have simply said....In God we trust...........
mixing valve, duh.........
Good Job!
Thanks, this is the easy stuff I have been looking forward to doing.
Double dam for sure. Solving one problem created another.
OMG!
I can use this. I will turn my skids the other way and put a 45 degree angle on the end and the x bracing on the frames I can put on my skids to keep them square.
Just keep your pull point low and you will be fine...a 45 on the end is a good idea to keep from digging in. I was in a rush, but over sand so there wasn't much digging in with the flat grade I had already. Good luck! It actually smoothed it up even more.
