The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
by Mark Haddon
Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow.
Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, for fifteen-year-old Christopher everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning. He lives on patterns, rules, and a diagram kept in his pocket. Then one day, a neighbor's dog, Wellington, is killed and his carefully constructive universe is threatened. Who is the narrator?
I have Autism and I have to read this next year but my mum got asked by he teacher if I would be comfortable reading it in class. Mum decided I should read it to make absolutely sure. My mum is a teacher at the school I go to.

I am a 14 year old girl from Russia writing this comment on November 10, 2024. I learned about this book when I was on a trip to Turkey with my family during the summer holidays. We went to a book fair and they bought it for me. Reading was a bit difficult for me because I don't fully understand English (I write comments with the help of a translator), but well enough to understand what is happening. And I really liked it. Let's just say that I like books and films about how people with disabilities see the world. And reading about Christopher's misadventures was quite fascinating. Probably because I was touched by him (although he would never do that, if you know what I mean). Of course, Chris is far from an angel, but he was just born that way and it is not his fault. In my opinion, Mr. Haddon perfectly conveyed how people with autism react to everyday things that we do not attach importance to. I was able to feel myself in Christopher's body. And it's wonderful when a person understands such things. I hope you won't regret reading this book either.
Well done you, hope you enjoy a peaceful Christmas . Greetings fro England

I had trouble with this one. I don't like being folded into a broken brain. This kid has problems and the author does an amazing job bringing the reader into his subject's particular head problems. The boy's got mental issues and while it might be endearing to observe from a distance, the adventure of climbing in there with him is too confining, too claustrophobic. I didn't like him, and his take on the world is too robotic, too stilted and stiff.

He’s an autistic savant but i don’t know if that term is ok to use anymore. I enjoyed the book but it was quite heartbreaking at times.
I didn't enjoy the book but I agree it was heartbreaking. The only one I really feel for is his father.
