I have this album, vinyl I'm 60, I was in my early twenties when the Hilltop surfaced. i'm in the south. At that time, if it wasn't NYC, it was viewed extremely extremely skeptical. If it was popping, well okay, iie Jazzy Jeff, but even still, it wasn't that real NYC that defined what we called rap. We all remember when there was no rap, so it was young, young and nobody was sure if it would even last. We could care less, we were just getting down. Seems impossible to fathom today with social media, but at that time, short of dj's at a party, even having access to the medium was limited. Radio stations might go in the mix late weekend nights, but no play on MTV, BET. I liked Cool C. My man was Steady B. I had his cassette. When I pulled that out, nobody wanted to hear anything really from Philly other than Kwame got a little burn and EST, mainly from videos, once they finally infiltrated the airwaves around 87, 88.

Nah yall ain't lying Euphoria is SO underrated. The way he not only dissected Drake with 5 or more different flows was crazy. But even more than that, the way that song alone predicting how this whole battle and now post battle would play out was almost too perfect. lol I don't care who you are, or where you from, Kendrick is just that guy, you just have to respect it. The guy is a certified legend at this point. You could only point at a select few in hip hop HISTORY that could match the current run Kendrick has been on, and from the looks of he isn't even close to the finishing. And this isn't said enough. I am nearing 40. I am only months older than Kendrick. It has been extremely beneficial being able to grow up and mature with him and his music. To see him rap grown man stuff, while also standing on his business, removing all self doubt and having a set of morals he lives by is really inspiring/powerful. And I also appreciate how he doesn't shy away from being flawed. Being open about how he has grown and evolved from the person he didn't like. So he isn't just one of the greatest MCs to grace a mic, but he is just a good, solid guy. Which is rare. Alright, I'm going to stop rambling. LOL, it just makes me proud to see someone like Kendrick not only put his neck out to take back and protect this culture that raised a lot of us, but also putting the West Coast on his back. As someone from the Midwest, we love hearing that regional LA/Bay Area sound.

I have never heard one single motivational rap song from snoop. Snoop is so spineless i swear seems like he is jealous that kendrick was brave enough to do what snoop couldn't in his entire career. Kendrick highlighted harmful things that corrupt/rot the culture, like excessive focus on sex (Freaky Ass Nigga), sex offenders and exploitive individuals. Snoop is 50, so maybe he doesn't care, but it's coming off as jealousy over either tupac's undying glory or kendrick's courage.
