How I motorised this contra rotating 1/72 Kamov
I've motorised numerous models in the past but never a twin rotor helicopter with contra rotating props. This is a test build for one such model, the Kamov Ka29 Helix. It's a Zvezda kit re-boxed for Italeri.

Converting this Airfix Spitfire 1/72 Scale Motorised
Просмотров 5472 месяца назад
What a great kit this is in standard form.It goes together very well and is a pleasure to build,I've built a number of them in the past.. This one is a little different though. I did a conversion on it and motorised it ofcourse. The conversion wasn't quite straight forward but I'm happy with how it turned out. If you enjoy the video then Please Like and Subscribe Mike
Motorised Revell NH90 NATO helicopter 1/72 scale
Просмотров 5513 месяца назад
A rare kit from 1997. It is quite a nice little model but not without a couple of minor problems. The front canopy for one and I found it a bit of a challenge to get fuselage together along with the engine covers on top. I motorised it using 2 Micro Motors, both are 4mm x 8mm in size and relatively easy to fit but with minor alterations. If you enjoy the video then Please Like and Subscribe Mike
Motorised Italeri Mistel 1 1/72 scale
Просмотров 7293 месяца назад
My most tricky motorised model yet. I had to think about this one and almost built it as a static model. I'm glad I didn't I think it looks great. The Ju88 moulding goes back as far as 1991 and had raised panel lines and detail, not sure about the Me109 part of the the kit though. All motors used are 4mm x 8mm and can be found on Ebay or the Internet quite easily. Just search for MICRO MOTORS. ...
Motorised Beech Staggerwing 1/72 scale AZ Models

I built this model a few months ago. I didn't upload a video of it until now because I simply forgot about it. I only came across it after while deleting files of my PC. Anyway, it's a decent little kit. An unusual subject as there is not much around in 1/72 scale of it.. I think they are still very popular with a lot of private pilots in the world. i have another in my stash so maybe I will do...
Motorised Italeri H21c Shawnee 1/72

A great Italeri kit from 1999. I enjoyed this one very much. It went together very well with just some minor issues, some self inflicted. Motors used were both 4mm x 8mm. If you fancy having a go at motorising your model the motors can easily be found online or on Ebay, just search for MICRO MOTORS. If you enjoyed the video, Please Like and Subscribe..... Mike
Dragon FW TA-152 1/72 scale Motorised

Always liked the look of this aircraft and I came across the model on Ebay..It's a few years old (1992) but pretty good. There are a few minor fit problems but nothing to put you off. Motorising it was a bit of a task as I wanted to use the model engine included, and I'm glad to say it worked quite well and very happy with how it turned out. The motor I used was a 4mm x 8mm micro motor...Easily...

Flyhawk Dauntless 1/72 scale A great kit
Просмотров 9895 месяцев назад
I went looking for a 1/72 Dauntless, I have never built one before. There is not much about in this scale. I didn't fancy the old Airfix kit, I'm not a fan of old Airfix kits. The only other that I know of is the Hasegawa kit which is a little difficult to find. This Flyhawk offering is quite a recent kit (2021) and I really enjoyed building it. The only disapointing thing I found about it was ...
Airfix SRN1 Vintage Classic 1/72 re released 1960s kit

I wasn't going to buy and build any of the Airfix Vintage Classic kits. Ever since they started doing it a couple of years ago. I'm just not a fan of them. Even as a kid I use to prefer Matchbox kits than Airfix or anything else. Times have changed and I think Airfix do some fantastic kits and now there is no comparison to their early stuff.. When I saw they were bringing this kit back out thou...

So I saw a video on youtube of the maiden flight of this aircraft after it's restoration a couple of weeks ago. It looked fantastic I have to say. Straight after I went looking for a model kit to build it. I soon found a decal set and a complete kit were available so I went for the complete kit. I haven't made any kits from KP in the past as I always thought of them as not very good. This one i...
Motorised Revell UH60A Blackhawk 1/72

The smallest 1/72 helicopter I have built to date. .Had to make some minor modifications but they are not noticeable. The kit I used is the Revell / Italeri mould which is not great and requires a fair amount of extra work.. There is not much out there for the Blackhawk in this scale, the Hasegawa and Hobbyboss are another 2 that I have seen. After reading some reviews and forum posts they all ...
Motorised Airfix F4F Wildcat...A great kit
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Never built a Wildcat before and this kit from Airfix was a nice kit with which to build one. It's quite an easy kit to build but watch out for the landing gear. It is a bit complicated and could be a problem for the beginner. Nice easy colour schemes and the choice to have the wings in the folded / stowed position is a nice detail. Motorised Airfix FW-190 full build..A nice kit for little money
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.10 месяцев назад
I bought this several months ago because I liked the look of it but after looking closer I was put off by the colour scheme and left it until now. It's a typical colour scheme of German WW2 fighters with blended and blotched paint which means a lot of masking and it can be difficult to get right. I am quite happy with how this one turned out. It is a nice kit for very little money but the main ...
Motorised P-36 Hawk from AZ Model 1/72 Full build
Просмотров 78510 месяцев назад
Never built a P-36 before.. I've built a few AZ Model kits in the past and I found them to be pretty good and just need a little extra work here n there. This kit was no exception, the wing join needed some more attention than I would have liked but the rest was very good. It's nice to have a number of schemes to choose from and I went for the Pearl Harbour aircraft that shot down 2 Japanese ai...

I need this
What you're doing is awesome! I tried this on the 1/100 Skyfall model but have managed to make a mess of the poor thing, but your video inspires and educates me! Such an awesome idea with awesome execution!
Thank you 👍
....I just built this kit about two months back and it is an outstanding kit ! very good detail and loads of features for a 72nd scale kit. my only disappointment was the lack of flight crew, so to that end I used the pilot and gunner from the airfix helldiver kit that was next up on my bench. Great video and super nice build thanks for sharing
Gosh!! That's so awesome! By the way, any chance you can make those hellfire fly? 👍😅
Thanks Alek 👍...You over estimate my ability....😃 just a little 😃😃
Fantastic!
I used this exact same kit with the idea of converting it to RC, unfortunately the plastic was too thick and the weight too heavy to work, but the motorized conversion looks really good, nice work!
omg Mike that is stunning my friend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! behold the Shrew !!!

@@307vrr Mike your a genius lad !!!! by the way i cant get any more of them motors " out of stock " do ya know of anywhere else kiddo ? oh by the way just watched your build on the Acadamy P47 !! low and behold im doing the Bubbletop Version right Now !! didnt have any motors though :( !! you take it easy Mike , you any builds up and coming ? ...Shaun.
@@GhostRider247 Hey Shaun....Yeh the 4x8mm motors seem to be a bit difficult to find atm...4x12mm will do the same job though... I have the bubble top P47 in the stash....If I come across an interesting colour scheme I will prob build it.... Working on an Airfix Spitfire Mk1 atm....doing a conversion on it..😉😉 Video up soon
@@307vrr excellent Mike thank you so much , looking forward to that !!!! , take care and thank you again !!! .. Shaun.
Это я так понимаю перепак старой модели с новыми декалями мифического мига которого ни кто не видел?)
Hey, great build. And a quick question, for the canards, did you use a spare decals strips from the sheet? It's hard to believe that xtradecals got that wrong 🫣🤔
Hi.....Thanks very much 👍 I seem to recall I did but I'm not 100% on it
Cheers bud, I'm thinking about creating paint mask for canards. But thus, will create a new problem, matching flag colors 🤨 for red, good old fashioned humbrol 19 should do, however I have no clue which color to use for blue 🫣
hi Mike just a quick one , got motors all buttoned up and one not workin !!!!! b****r , hoping i can get it working , just wanted to ask will all 4 work on one AA battery ? as im hoping thats all it is as 3 run on one battery , is one enough juice for all 4 ? ....cheers Shaun.
Hi Shaun....If it is a new battery it is possible but I never tried it...I've only ever connected 3 motors in the past on my Do24..... As for the motor that doesn't work try giving it a few taps on the side while power is connected....Sometimes I get the same problem with these micro motors....Note it doesn't always work and will need to be replaced..
@@307vrr might be hard replacing it Mike but i think i might be able too , ill try and tap it , bit llike doing the old starter motor trick !!!! ..Cheers Mike !!!! Shaun.

Hi Mike just a quick one , got my motors today , what voltage do they need to run ?
Hey boyo...I just use a single AA battery which is 1.5v
just tried and not running , thats what i thought , will they run either way connected? cheers Mike sorry for all the questions !!!@@307vrr

Very interesting model.
outstanding Mike !!!!!!!!! love the mistel , was hoping to get one a 1/48 version , but go for silly money !!!! i got some of the m motors you told me 4 for around £3 GBP as seller offered me discount !! do you think i should get some of that brass rod ? sorry for all the questions Mike ...Cheers Shaun.
Thanks Shaun....Yeh defo get some mate....You will need 0.7 id x 0.9od....Ebay listing number 400920150816 In a lot of cases you won't need glue to fix it to the shaft but if you do....use the absolute minimun on the shaft tip....or you will sieze the motor bearing...I done it a few times ☹️ Let me know how you get on 👍
@@307vrr you are a legend Mike thank you ever so much for all your help !!!
So cool 👍
just a quick one Mike , where do ya get yer motors from ? Fantastic work as always too mind !!! ...Shaun.
Hi Shaun...Search for Micro Motors on the internet....I mostly use Ebay though....Put this number into search 254444597111 It will take you straight to the listing I use.....Only takes a few days with full tracking....They do other size's also.....Thanks Mike

The stress cracks on the front canopy will disappear with a quick spray of clear coat or quick shine!
Fantastic build and motorisation 👍🏼 Ian
Thanks Ian 👍
Nice job! Still remember (late 60’s) that i saw this helicopter from the German Army hovering above the river Rhine when i was a small child. The black cross was so clear to see because it flew at a very low altitude. It started my fascination for aviation.😊
Thanks 👍 I never seen one before...a little before my time

very nice model. :) greets from swiss
Thanks 👍
Fantastic, a great video of a fabulous build, paint and motorisation!
Thank you very much 👍
Looks good mate, my last motorised build I found even using the motors you recommended that they were too fast, how do you slow them down or do you just not bother 😆.
I sometimes use a resistor wired inline to slow the props..It depends on the motor you use and prop size as to how fast the prop will turn... I felt I didn't need a resistor for my H21c.... What speed you would like to run it at depends on what resistor you use..There is no one size fits all.... A variable resistor could be a viable answer but they are a bit more bulky...I have never tried on though
@@307vrr ok that makes sense will look into it, I think I prefere a slower turn just so it looks more appealing visually. Thanks as always mate

I'm surprised that Airfix have yet to jump in with a 1/48 one or a 1/72 that's not a starter kit.
The old tool airfix sea king is a difficult kit to build. Very fit of the parts. But you succeeded! 👍😉
