This is amazing
I am obsessed with your channel. So good
Could you do some how to play video Love your channel now im buying lego to it myself
Do you put a support 2x2 brick in the middle between the bottom plate and the top plate? I think you use 4x4 plates as the top plate on the water pieces and I was curious if you used a support brick between the two layers. It'd be cool to see you build the 8x8 and 4x4 modular terrain from start to finish so I can understand it fully.
Any chance you have the link you mentioned in 2:44 in? I am unable to locate it in the description or your rebrickable. Awesome build BTW!
appreciate the build!! I've been toying with the idea of modular D&D terrain for ages and have never found a design I was happy with. This may be it. I don't think I've seen you talk much about verticality yet.
No tails, Baraki spine.
For the swamp ones you could try the old three stem flower pieces- they may look like reeds. Blue-green colors work well for the water plus grass/tree biome of swamps. Maybe it needs some darker browns or a bit less density on the round tiles. Seems a bit busy to me and doesn't quite read as swamp at a glance. If you are going with the height differences you could make ground tiles sit a plate higher than water ones. For the water maybe leave some more low spots around the tile for more of an undulating water look. Maybe consider the jumper plates as the crests of waves and choose a diagonal to emphasize? The forest ones look great. The black helps indicate there is shadow and thus height to me.
You could go with a very dark green instead of black to represent moss.
That’s a great idea! At least in the studio app it looks great!
This reminds me of heroica, I loved that theme
Do you post instructions for these builds anywhere? Trying to reconstruct from your video can be frustrating!
You should sell these
That’s very kind of you. I think with the price of LEGO everybody is probably better of building these themselves 🫣
Thank you for sharing more about your water!! ❤
I like it! It looks pretty cool and there isn't anything too over the top. Though I will say that the swamp tiles might be served well by adding a little bit more, they look kind of weird and Poka-dot rather than like actual terrain. Maybe you could tinker with how they blend just a bit?
Might not fit in with this series too well, but I really loved when you told us about the quests your party goes on, so I'd love more of that!
You really outdid yourself again! I love these new designs! Especially the colour match between the swanp tile and the grass / wood tiles is so fitting. The new forest ones are also great! Playing with different elovations is a smart way to bring more immersion to the game. But my favourite has to be the new water tiiles. They are just perfect! And a BIG thanks for including the studio files! Keep up with the great work! You are really inspiring for me and my journey to build a modular design.
I found your Channel as I was searching for Terrain. I always thought that regular Lego sets are not good for playing. I don‘t even play DnD or know anything about it, but I will build your map tiles for my daughter to create her own worlds
They are gorgeous! 😍
Love the Water Tiles :D
LEGO Tomb of Horrors when?
damn these look great
Thanks for making this channel
I want a video where you explain DnD rules,I’m new to it and would love to know more about it to create my own maps and design my own movs 😊
I'm curious why your tile connectors share a corner rather than being at the same edge of every piece?
This way it’s very easy to align the grid on the tiles, as connectors are always on the darker side. So when clipping them together I don’t need to look where the lighter and darker squares are. 🤓
Im not even running a campaign yet and I've probably spent to much making these maps but they are absolutly awesome!!!! They have also given me a lot of good ideas that I haven't seen yet.
I love these!!!!
Nice Upgrade! I made the same modular system, after feedback from my group i ended up shuffling the green/dark green tiles around the jumpers to get a more organic feel for the grass areas. Thx for the video!
That’s a very good point! I will try that out!
I was inspired by you to build modular map tiles, but I went a far simpler route, whereas yours is growing in complexity and detail! I bought several 16x16, 8x16, and 8x8 plates in dark tan off PAB online, as well as corner tiles and matching jumpers in tan and dark tan. I can slide my pieces together on a table for a simple map, or arrange them on a baseplate. Even without snapping them onto the studs. Just them resting on the studs will keep them in position for if you’re moving them from behind your dm screen to the middle of the table. I tried the method you use, but decided I wasn’t ready to invest in that many technic parts and extra plates 😂
The new tiles looks so so good! The new water tiles look amazing, and I really like the organized chaos feeling of the new sand green grass terrain! maybe try doing something similar to those in the other green colors to make a more lumpy grass area, like foothills instead of the old flater style which feels more like a meadow Great vid/builds though thank you for posting!
That’s a great point. I was also thinking of doing more with round jumper plates. Also I want to do some cobblestone tiles. So much to do 😇🤓
The real issue with this system is space. You need a massive kitchen table when playing and another place to store the pieces - in addition to all the D&D stuff that clutters the table. I wonder if it would not be more practical to go to a smaller scale where 1 stud = 5x5 or 10x10 foot areas.
We have a really big table at our house (because we are very much into tabletop games) and as the tiles stack they don’t take up too much space, so this wasn’t an issue for me. But I can totally see that this could be a problem. Microscale would be very cool to do as well. I think I would go with 2x2 studs = 5ft and use the heroica minifigs or some built out of bricks. Would you be interested in a video about that?
How you store the tiles and pieces as well as what the table actually looks like when you play would be a cool video theme.
I think you need to move to having high ground on tiles - zero, quarter, half, full tiles would work.
Can you elaborate a little? I’m not certain if I understand. Do you mean having squares on the tile be higher than others?
@critbrick I believe thats what they mean, and I concur. adding variability to the height within the tile will add a lot of immersion I think.
Thanks for the wonderful videos and ideas! I really like the new water tiles - they look amazing! The new forest tiles as well, I don't think they look too messy but rather quite organic... but I personally like the darker background colour a little better though I might try to use a dark brown instead of black. ☺ At the moment, I am trying to come up with a way to include lights in a forest scene with crumbling ruins and rugged stone bolders to set the borders of the scene. I am not quite sure yet which lights to use though....
That sounds amazing. Lights are next level and would for sure add to the experience! Let me know when you find suitable lights for that. I would love to see what you come up with!
@@critbrick We tried one of these really expensive light kits but in theory I know how to solder... I am just worried that I do something wrong and fry my set-up :D I will let you know how it goes...
Hi, banger Video as always. I noticed that you said there is only one translucent Jumper in blue, but there are indeed 2 kinds of blue available. One in Trans-Dark Blue and one in Trans-Light Blue, so if you still want to go for the grid look, you could use them :P I think Lava Tiles could be cool too, maybe some gravel path Tiles could be cool as well
2x2 Jumpers only - normal 1x2 jumpers don't have these colours.
@@michaelnurse9089 that about the 2 x 1 i didnt know, but for those modular pieces the 2x2 jumper are used right? So they can be used ^^
Not gonna lie, I bougut like 5 of these sets just for the fairy and the griffin..
This is gonna be peak!
I KEEP CLICKING THIS THINKING THE VIDEO IS ALREADY OUT 😭
Same I clicked on this thing three times yesterday.
Man I love this idea. Thanks mate gonna give it a try myself
5:28 If there is something I learned is that: when lacking matching skintone hands, use gloves! Many would end up with brown/grey/black gloves but well- lmao
just bought a bunch off amazon, starting out with the forest dark green and martin green colors, 3 3x1 and 3 1/4 circle for each 4x4 got enough to make 50 tile systems of 8x8 and doing water as well i legit cannot find the transparent 2x2s anywhere other than bricklink for like 0.30$ ea so went with the 1x2 similar stud estimated 40 grass 10 water or 30grass 20 water 250$ with discounted knock off amazon lego. its like 400+ on bricklink.
I use yellow for githyanki and “sun elves” as I call them, using any LEGO elf ears with yellow instead of flesh tones. I also have a yellow skin tone tiefling using the Satyr hair piece with the horns. They fit perfectly fine with all of the other flesh tones, mix and match to your hearts content!
I’m planning to get it now! The fairy and skeleton horse are so neat too!
The Ahsoka minifig colors from the Star Wars line match up well with the Tiefling skin and horns for your minifig.
I got the set on yesterday in my birthday and the set is really good and it has a griffin,a demon like horse, and a pixie.❤
This set was awesome! I had the exact same thought once i built the tiles that you featured and was suprised to see it was on sale. The malfoy polybag is also a nice pickup to add to these terrain pieces. Great video as always my guy 👍❤️
That's a cool parts pack for dnd!
It is! Do you have sets that you used extensively for D&D?
@@critbrick nah I barely buy sets I just make mocs for what I need :)
I want to like your videos but I think you talk too much about idk what when you could just have way more shots of the Lego doing its thing and actually showing you how it works for DnD. I don’t like how it’s mostly shots of your face. I think you could use those face shots to break up and not be monotonous but right now it’s just too much talking and face
I like his videos just how they are. Maybe you should make your own videos or look at other Lego DnD creators if you don't like them. You can't make everyone happy and you're just not the target audience
Thanks for your Feedback. I also think there could be more LEGO shots but not making them repetitive is challenging if you don’t want to go into stop motion (and I definitely lack the patience for that 😅). There are a lot of channels out there that focus more or solely on the LEGO and that’s wonderful but I can’t promise I’ll be able to change up my style 180 🙃 Thanks for being here though!
@@kentonrobinson5330 I like the ideas he shares a lot and don’t mind his video style too much. I do kinda wish he showed more shots of the models, even if its just the same B-roll of the model. That said if im staring at a face for the majority of a video, his face ain’t a bad mug to be looking at. 😉
