Looks pretty sweet man! Nice job.
@@JBOutboards thank you!!
Put the thermostat back in
Premix 50:1 gas oil. Do not use VRO oil injection. So many motors ruined from VRO failure.
@@MitzvosGolem1 this isn’t a bro motor I found the cap in a junkyard. The motor is a 1978 75hp with a 1987 60 vro cap
Very nice indeed. And what a day. Early is always my favourite on the water.
Learned to water ski behind a Geneva boat/ Big Twin 40 outboard. Good memories!
Tease!
An Evi with a Jonny long leg extension and Evi bottom end?
One of the best engines ever made.
These were some of the best outboards ever produced. Rugged, reliable, quiet, powerful, and easy to trouble shoot and repair. OMC would still be in business to day if this same model could be produced
Your cruising what do you get for speeds?
When fully trimmed out I can get a steady 41mph and occasionally hit 42. This video the motor all the way trimmed down so it was probably doing 38mph.
Nice setup!
Did you route tell tale pee tube on this motor?
No these came factory with a tell tale the last owner was the one that hacked the tray to route it out of the side.
Just picked up one of these ‘73 Evinrude variety- It needs some work overall not bad but sitting in barn 15yr- I was more familiar w/ older Big Twin 40’s like ‘62 in one of your videos- Wondering what’s your opinion on these models compared to older versions? I mainly bought for the tiller handle- & thought from one pic it was original but turns out the tiller was added from Johnson & it’s originally a remote motor w/ electric start- Like your videos Keep the ole omcs alive- jack
This motor sat in a boat mechanic’s shop for 20 years before I got it and was given to me. I think this one has ran better than my 63 big twin. Both needed new cork floats tho as they got saturated with todays fuel.
How fo you loke this ole Johnson? Are they good motors ?
I loved running this motor used it on my aluminum boat for 3 summers with only having to do an impeller and carb clean. These motors will run flawlessly if you redo the point carburetors and impeller.
Thanks Buddy I just picked up last night - Been sitting few years Going to do tune up ; run her-@omcoutboardboy4421
@@jacklowe3788 hope you get the motor running great. If you need parts use marinengine.com great place to buy oem parts.
I almost bought the Open-Bow version of this boat in 1982. The Dealer had rigged one up with a 140 for me to test drive. I ended up buying a 15ft Invader with a 140, which I had also test drove that day
Must have been pretty sweet. Got this boat from the original owner first time it’s been in the water since 1993.
That's a beauty, all the pieces are there, and the shift handle isn't broken! Looks like brand new underneath. These engines were OMC at its best for sure. These engine run every bit as smooth as any four stroke for sure
Used the motor all day today on my raft perfect engine for it.
Not bad!
Maybe the best!! Sea Horse!! Thank's
Favorite cap on these late 60s 2 cylinders
Gorgeous sights and sounds!
I know this is an old post but that water pump isn’t actually in the water. Needs to be at least around an inch over where the lower unit separates. I bet the pickup tube for the water has a bad gasket.
A disfrutar se a dicho
I have a 70 40 hp Evinrude. Realy nice shape. Got free on marketplace.
These usually just take some points a new impeller, carb rebuild and possibly some lower unit seals and you’ll have a great motor.
@@omcoutboardboy4421 I haven't messed with it. It came with a 1976 25 hp Johnson salt water motor and a bunch of new parts. They are too big for me. I only have a small light rowboat. I only collect small motors for the rowboat. 10 hp max. You have some nice stuff and a great place to run them.
Thats some coordinating there!
Where at? Michigan? I see 'MC' numbers
Middle channel harsens island
@omcoutboardboy4421 Awesome ! I'm on Saginaw Bay- AuGres and it's almost like glass out here today. 65° too!
Love it! That baby is scootin!
Nice! hey, how long is that boat? 14'?
16ft
Cool!
Nice and quite! sounds great. completely restoring a 65' SkiTwin 33hp and after that a 40hp SkiTwin with the Gale powerhead. .040'' pistons were hard to find and expensive.
Yeah these motors are getting more and more rare to see out on the lake. Glad you’re restoring some.
Noisy old things but run forever !! Built in Peterpatch Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
they are quite easy on the ears in person. Idle is very quite. now some that are a little loose in the piston department might be a different story:)
@@ct1762 tell that to my '72 -25 hp and the 80 -4hp just puts you to sleep when trolling ! Cheers 🇨🇦
I have the same boat! Except mines a 1966. Has a 1986 50hp Yamaha outboard. Great boat to ride around in, lots of fun.
Glastron 161 futura???
1978 StarCraft American 16
Havasu springs resort ski boat rental 1978 same engines we had nine of them
What a beautiful engine, and boat... An amazing lake and sunset for sure. This must be what heaven is like
Great boat for a sunset cruise
dios tiene mis años y tira como mo el denonio 😅 super motor ,cuidaloooo
These were some of the best outboards produced by any manufacturer. Rugged, reliable, powerful, and easy to service
This motor ran well all summer. The video is the first time it’s ran since 93.
I want to eventually get all of these in this series
You in Michigan?
Yes
I'm looking for a 63 through 65 - 18 HP Evinrude if you come across one of these let me know. Thanks
Eventually I want all of them in this series
@@ALVintageOutboards they pop up a little bit on marketplace. The only problem is a lot of them are in bad shape cosmetically.
@@omcoutboardboy4421 what town are you in? I'm located in AuGres Michigan
Awesome! Ive got that one too! Yours runs great!
Dope af get it son
I have the same motor I don't think my motor is peeing. Where do I look
I have the same one as well, Two things could be wrong, could be a bad water pump impeller down in the lower unit, or it could be a bad or missing thermostat up on the top end of the engine. I'd church the thermostat first
Love the little hydroplane, but I expecially love the tin boat! What horsepower engine is on that?
It had a 1971 25hp evinrude on it
just got one. lets hope it runs well!
I likie
I had the same exact boat growing up, but ours had a 50 hp mercury on it. Thing was a great boat and alot of fun
I just got the same engine you have here (1973 Evinrude 50HP Lark) on a decent pontoon boat. It does not appear to have a tell-tale for the water pump. How do you know if the water pump is working (besides melting your wiring, engine, lol)? Please let me know and thanks.
These motors have two relief exhaust ports on the back of the motor. Once these motors get up temp the motor should pump water out of those ports. At idle it will be more of a mist.
Summer is almost here
24:1 fuel mix only
It'll run 40:1 no issue but yeah
I’m working on one of those mine don’t has the peephole either
Sweet motor. I recently picked up a 1957 elto 12hp and a 1958 viking 12hp very similar to the buccaneers. The viking runs and is low hours but the elto will need some ignition work. Looks like yours rips pretty good
Have had a couple 85s great runners. ruclips.net/video/njiwfmzfies/видео.html
