Where I've been, what I've seen, moments I've captured.
Summit Wild Camp in Snowdonia
In this video myself and James headed out for an overnight camp in Snowdonia. With plan A going out the window we went with plan B. The hike up starts off on a nice road for around 1.6 miles and then you come off to the track to start your ascent up. The views started to open up as we got higher over looking Wales and seeing out to sea. There's a nice small scramble up onto the summit of Carnedd Filiast or you can take the path around. This is where the views really open up and you can see right down to the Ogwen Valley from up here. We made our way over to the next summit which was Mynydd Perfedd and this is where we found a spot to pitch. Sunset was beautiful and then the inversion roll...

Winter Wild Camping in the Snow
Просмотров 687День назад
In this video myself and James headed out for an overnight camp in Snowdonia. The aim was to camp up high but our plans were soon changed as it took us a while to park and time was a problem with there being a lot of snow down. The snow was deep in patches and was a good bit of fitness getting up in the mountains. We ended up camping by the side of a small lake underneath Tryfan. It was very pe...

This camp was all about just getting back out and enjoying it and having a run through my winter setup ill be using this winter. In this video myself and Mark head up to Scotland for a wild camp spot in search of an inversion. We parked up near Loch Lomond and headed for a hill called Beinn Dubh. The hike is very well sign posted and a clear defined track all the way up. We were in a rush to get up as we were losing the sunlight and the sunset was looking good. We popped up out of fog to witness a brilliant inversion ove...

In this video myself and Mark head up to Scotland for a wild camp. Our plans were scuppered from the start as this camp was a plan b camp. Once parked up we set off on our way up a section of the west highland way called the devil's staircase. Once at the big cairn we hit a left and straight up to find our spot for the night. We found a great spot overlooking the Glencoe Valley. At night it was...

In this video I met up with fellow youtuber and wild camper Richard AKA Northern Rockhopper @Northern_Rockhopper for a wild camp in the lake district. We parked in Seathwaite and made our way up to Esk Hause. From there we then found some water and then headed on up to Allen Crags. We found a nice spot off the summit with some shelter. Once the tents were up the weather decided it wanted to dro...

Nearby is a nice few small waterfalls and then you start to make the ascent near some houses and a farm. Once through the farm it then opens up and you follow a path to little body of water. Once passed the water you then head up through the old quarry there. After the qua...

The hike up was pretty rushed with only having 3 hours of light. The hike starts in Ogwen valley and then heads out to Lyn Idwal and then up Devils Kitchen (Mark will tell you about devils’ kitchen) Just before heading up to Glyder...

In this video myself and a couple of mates head for a night in Scotland. This is our second night and for this one we pointed a finger at the map and headed for that location. We wanted a nice Loch view for the evening. There is no better place than Loch Etive for that. We set of from the car park not knowing what the trail looked like ahead. We basically had to make our own way up this hill, F...

In this weeks adventure myself and a couple of mates head for a night on the summit of High Street in The Lake District. We parked down in Mardale and then started walking around Haweswater. Once across the ridge we headed on to t...

Yes mate cracking video as always! Unreal scenes! Even without being able to use the drone 👀 🙈 Ide be sick! Chinook looks a beauty, 1+ interior looks huge over the 1! Also, the quilt looks impressive, seen a few using that system recently, proper home vibes haha. Keep them coming mate, ATB 👌🏼
I know yeh man was a beauty of a sunset. Wish I'd of put a time lapse going instead of messing about with the drone. Ah well. Aye mate the 1 plus inner is massive man but I am concerned in windy conditions the outer and inner will touch at some point. There's a little mod I Wana do to the tent to try prevent that happening. Oh mate the zen bivvy is so good compared to a sleeping bag but there just so expensive. Thanks for watching and supporting 👊
On my way there now ❤
Hope you have a good one matey 👊
Another great video Chris, looks like a great spot for a camp with awesome views! 🤙🏼
Glad you enjoyed it man. Yeh loved this spot and I'll definitely be back to Venture further to a different spot. Thanks for watching 👍
@iamchriswhelan I've never been over that part, furthest I've wandered is Y Garn. Definitely something to do for a future camp though.
@mananddog.outdoors Aye definitely matey. You can park over the back near Elidlir Fawr 👍 very easy ascent aswell.
Nice one mate. Shame about the drone like could tell you were fuming 😂 still nice to enjoy it first hand tho
Thanks for watching Steve. Yeh man all sorted now though so won't happen again (he says) 🤣 Aye was a stunning sunset.
Liking the new tent pal. Looks mint that.
Cheers man. Yeh I'm impressed to so far. Can't wait to see it in some wind. Thanks for your support
Satisfying AF 19:00 , turned out to be a belter camp man. Bring on the next one! ⛺🙌
Yeh enjoyed it man with some decent views of Ogwen 👍
Nice one mate. What day of the week and time did you get there? Wondering about the parking. Unusual for January. I think you should try the pronunciations, you're good at them later on in the video. And it's good fun to try them, especially when it's cold weather. Ha. Love this weather mate, I like the morning fog but yeah shame about the drone, although maybe it let you enjoy it more with your eyeballs than you would have done otherwise. And if it makes you feel any better, I've forgotten my drone memory card before! Tent looks decent, I like that extra space idea that rolls back for cooking. Great idea. Do you have a link for the thermometer you use?
This was a Saturday at like 12pm and Ogwen was rammed man. Next time I'll try to pronounce the Welsh mountains with my Manc accent haha. Yeh man the conditions was great for this camp. Yeh shame on the drone but I wish I could say I enjoyed sunset 😭 I was running around looking for signal. Just shows this modern piece of tech ruined my sunset. Yeh I've got a link here for them amzn.to/3E5bMWG Thanks for your support.
@@iamchriswhelanthank you. Cheaper than I thought
@chrishomer Yeh there like 10 or 11 quid. Really small and light aswell. Works off an app with lots of information. Battery lasts for like 2 years or summet. I've had mine about a year and the battery has only gone down like 20% haha
Nice one Chris 👍 i have never seen one of these types of Drones up close or know anything about them. Do you operate the Drone with the App instead of controlling it with the hand controller thingy 🤔 ?
Thanks Olan. You need both. You control it with the controller but you plug your phone so you can see what the drone sees but yeh the app was crashing on my phone. I've fixed it now so all good. Thanks for watching 👍
@@iamchriswhelan I am going to have a go at super glueing my Osmo onto one of my uncles homing pigeons before i venture down that road, its a bottomless pit when you start buying all these bits and bobs for filming hey 🙄
@Olan... Haha quality. Aye mate it's definitely a money pit keep buying all these gizmos haha
😊
👍
Sorry about the app crashing fella bit tough that. I still loved all the views though, conditions were amazing. Nippy Menaj that cracked me up. Atb Bob.
Is what it is init. Just made me think if I didn't have that modern tech I might have sat there and watched sunset instead of stomping around trying find signal 🤔 Glad you enjoyed the video Bob 👊
Cracking video mate one of the best you’ve done I reckon 👍
You reckon? Means alot mate. Appreciate your support 👊
Nice one Chris. Great video. Looked a nice summit that with great views. Gutted about the drone. Spot on that though mate 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it man. Aye was a great summit with really nice views of Ogwen Valley. Appreciate your support 👍
Ωραίο βίντεο 👍
Glad you enjoyed it matey 👍
Great video and beautiful inversion 👍🙂
Appreciate it Stig and thanks for watching 👍
suoerb conditions Chris, gives and air of serenity. TFS Steven
Thanks for watching matey. Plans went out the window for this one but was still a decent camp.
It's pronounced pen ear oller when ffs.
Thanks for that. I'm no good at saying these Welsh mountains. Thanks for watching 👍
It was great, dear friend.. 👍👌
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting 👍
Looked a good trip mate can’t beat a snow camp can you. Tents looking ace!
Was decent mate. Thanks for watching. Aye mate treated myself to a new tent man. Impressed to start with.

Nice relaxing vid mate. Some great shots. Good to see you back out
Glad you enjoyed it man. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice little AMSR video mate. Sometimes a nice chilled out camp is whats needed 👌🏼 Chinooks looking a dream! Keep them coming mate ATB ❄️
Thanks for watching Callum. Loving the Chinook after the first outing in it. Can't wait to get out in it again.
Always worth it when it when you wake up to a sky full of glory hey Chris . I see you managed to get yourself a chinook , is that the 1.5p inner ? I would like to see one of those next to a lightwave sigma S20 in a decent strong wind just to see how they compare, i am intrigued by them 🤔
Aye man managed to get one off eBay for a decent price. Impressed with it for its outing. Yep it's the 1 plus with the bigger inner. Hopefully I'll get it out in some decent wind one day to see how it performs. Thanks for watching 👍
The boys smashingggggg the game
Nice chiller one mate 👍
Proper chilled this one. Love the ASMR stuff. I might try one myself. Fantastic conditions you had here bud. See you on the next one atb bob
Yeh I do to man. Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks for your support 👊
Decent chilled camp in the end man 🥶⛺ Bring on the next one!
Turned out ok all things considering. Thanks for commenting man 👊
Nice video mate. Might have to try a silent one myself! What shelter was that? Chinook maybe?
Thanks alot man. Only ended up silent this video coz I couldn't be bothered talking haha. Aye mate it's a Chinook on its maiden voyage. Thanks for watching 👍
The view at 6:11 is how I think of Snowdonia.
Just amazing in the winter coat 😍 thanks for watching man.
@ now you’ve got me considering going soon 🤣. Been trying to out it off til spring after my injury. Thanks 🤣🤣🤣
@chrishomer Could always try something small with views though? Hope you have a good one man
@ yeah will definitely be doing that
Well I hope you have an amazing time and I look forward to the video 👍
I enjoyed that it’s something a bit different, a relaxing watch 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Daniel, appreciate it 👊

Glad you enjoy matey and thanks for watching 👍
Alright,
Aiiight 👊
Where is this bothy? My dad could quite easily have stayed there. There are 282 munros in Scotland, he has completed them all and some of them are pretty remote. A very experienced climber, trekked in the Himalayas, to the base camp of Everest.
It's in the Cairngorms matey. If you Google the red house bothy I'm sure it will pop up or go on the mountain bothies website. Class bothy but it was only done up in the last few years I think.
Cracking video mate. Happy new year. I get where your heads at there. Weathers been rubbish bar the odd day and here. Looking forward to seeing what adventures you’ve got in store for 2025 ATVB Robert
Appreciate your support Robert. Yeh the last couple of months of the year always go crap. See where the wild takes us this year. All the best for this year matey 👊
@ cheers bud 😊 hopefully see you up in Scotland at some point soon
@Moffatmountainadventures Yeh that would be sick man. Have I got you on Facebook? Next time I'm up Scotland I'll send you a message.
H.N.Y and a 👍 too ! Very best wishes for 2025 for yourself and the channel.. 👍
Thanks alot matey. All the best to you and your family for 2025 👍
Happy New Year R Kid 😉 That Zen Bivvy looks like a decent bit of warm kit, what do you sleep in clothes wise because i only wear a base layer and i think thats why i prefer a bag because i always feel a draft when i have tried a quilt. and i cant figure out why i get on with a quilt at home but not in a tent 🤔Also i am wondering whats the coldest you have used your 450 Cumulus quilt down too ? Seeing your Franky with his huge Began on brings back memories, what Regiment is he in and how long has he been in so far ?
Happy new year to you to Olan and thanks for your support this year and tips. I sleep just in my boxers and a t shirt most of the time. I only got a draft when moving in the cumulus but with the way the zen bivvy connects to the bed sheet that has eliminated it. I've used the cumulus quilt down to -3 in Scotland one time and was ok to be fair. I bet it does bring back memories man. Am not sure what regiment he's in. He's only 17 so not fully in yet, he's at like an army college in Yorkshire doing training at the moment and he's been there around 10 months I think.
@@iamchriswhelan Its been an absolute pleasure watching your vids Chris so Thank You 👌. I havent checked out that Zen Bivy properly yet but i am going to. I was only asking about the 450 Cumulus because i managed to buy a Panyam 450 off eBay for £150 in mint condition and after washing it and weighing it it looks on par with my Panyam 650 which can be too warm if its not well below zero and i am down to wearing base layers. I bet your Frankys fitness level is pretty good after 10 months at the Depot then . Back in my day if you wasnt going to turn 18 after 6 months training and old enough to join a Regiment it used to be called Junior leaders which wasnt quite as brutal on the physical side but they focused a lot on weapon systems and tactics and map reading and still spent a lot of time in the gym etc. Bought myself a DJI Osmo action 5 and a Mic for a Christmas pressie but its traumatised me so far ...i am not exagerating in the slightest when i say i could rip out a kitchen and fit a new one in lesser time than i have invested in these gadgets to achieve sod all 🙃 Off for 10 days now so going to get out in the snow and probably end up Erming and Arring my way through a edit free video on my new mobile phone explaining why i just bought myself number 4 Hillyberg Soulo unless a miracle happens and i recover from IT induced trauma 🤔 Any tips for any channels that are good for walking an IT retard through the whole process of getting video footage off the Osmo and into a one piece video ????
@Olan... Means alot man. Yeh defo check out the zen bivvy. I've got the ultralight setup. Ah right, I do love the cumulus but it's not good when you start getting passed 0 degrees. Sure Franky mentioned summet about the Grenadiers!? But am not 100%. I know he's been doing alot of like battle camps and stuff. Brilliant that you've bought that camera, I've got the same one. Great piece of kit. Just search on RUclips the camera name and settings and am sure there will be loads of videos. Need to know more on it just WhatsApp me man. I'll video some stuff for you if you want explaining things. Number 4 Soulo wow haha. I'm considering selling mine coz I don't use it anymore.
Bet it felt good to get back out man! The blade bringing back some memories there hahah , looked like a good camp! ⛺
Yeh was definitely good to get back out there enjoying the camping man. Hopefully we can get out soon 🤞 appreciate your support man.

Nice video Chris ⛺️👍🏻 how do you like the la sportiva boots?
Thanks alot Ian. This was the first outing for the la sportiva boots. First impressions are great. Straight out of the box no issues. I used to wear Scarpa ribelles but they were very uncomfy. Hopefully I've made the right choice. Thanks for watching 👍
@ great, they get pretty good reviews… think I’ll have to go and try a pair on 👍🏻 cheers and keep the videos coming ⛺️👍🏻
Definitely matey. I picked mine up from Sports shoes for £232 in the sale, absolute bargain. Appreciate the support Ian 👊
