    I totally concur with your impressions. There are pleasant, sweet, elements offset and ultimately overshadowed by that sharp, screechy, wood. Leans ‘high-end hair care product’. It also does not strike me as overtly ‘feminine’ (whatever that means in relation to fragrance in 2024), despite it being marketed to women. You may or may not be aware that Barénia is the name of one of Hermès’ saddle leathers that debuted in the 1970s; it’s tanned in a special way and has a unique waxy feel, appearance, and aging character-and one that they only rarely put into production on select handbag releases. So there is some built-in Hermès lore or mystique that the fragrance would seem to be channelling, one supposes. That said, did you get *any* leather accord here? I did not. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Certainly not of an expected kind. Though I haven’t sniffed a Birkin made of Barénia! Perhaps the fragrance gets close to that scent… Finally, Paddock will be rolled out internationally in early 2025. No need to hop over to Paris.

    I’m curious, have you ever tried Experimentum Crucis by ELDO (2019)? It’s also a rose-patch made by Bisch that cites akigalawood too, but I find that the sharp, icy qualities work really well with the whole fruity-spicy-earthy composition. Even into the far dry down I think the sharp earthiness actually remains rather tame and attractive. Does this one get to you the same way as the other akigalawood bombs?

    • @cheapimitation2242
      @cheapimitation2242 3 дня назад

      @@noottrev you know I think I have! I've got the ELDO semi complete discovery set and I think it's in there. My first real encounter with Akigalawood was ELDO Une Amourette and I remember finding it interesting the first time I smelled that. The akigala isn't my main issue with Barenia as it's pretty subtle here. It's just such a boring release. It feels like they tried to put a twist on the already tired "fruitchouli" profile by using akigala rather than full on patchouli.

    Hi there, nice video. I just covered the same topic myself in my blog (pixidisperfumes) if you are interested. I find that either citrus colognes that avoid the sweet trap of some citrus fruits like Mandarin (for ex. Mandarino by Laboratory Olfattivo, which is nice but too sweet for the heat), or aromatic forward scents generally do the trick. More unusually, , tea fragrances are quite good for the heat (The Vert Bulgari type) and so are cold incense perfumes that remind you of stepping into an old monastery (i.e Reliques d'Amour, Avignon, Cardinal etc. ). Anyway thats' my take after roasting in Rome for 2 months....

    I bought a full bottle of Rose Tonnerre and Rose & Cuir recently. I was waiting for a low enough price from discounters but seeing prices continue to rise up, I thought now was the time to bite. I quite enjoy Lipstick Rose, which seems like a more fleshed out version of Chanel's Msia to me. POAL should be something I like, but somehow I never wanted it enough. It's very well made though. I might bite if I see a low enough price or a miniature. Supposedly they use to advertise like 10% rose oil was used...I don't know if this was true...a blogger told me. Although 10% would have exceed IFRA restrictions and possibly it was a rose extract with the allergens removed. About Rose Tonnerre and Une Rose, I've heard many many times from women who have been long time perfumistas (50+ years) about the tragedy of its reformulation. They never complain about reformulations unless it's Une Rose lol. For me, my relationship has always been with the modern Une Rose/ Rose Tonnerre. Its just a happy and joyful reconstructed/ deconstructed rose to me.
