A quick question, do the sites have 2 tier site fees? Although completely wrong, I can see the motivation for pushing up site fees exponentially year on year but surely high site fees means that the sites themselves cannot sell new caravans/lodges etc?

I know someone who bought into a mobile home( Hunmanby ) and they looked into it and, yes they state it's 12 months, but you have to be not there for 1 month out of 12 so they just go to Spain for a month, sorted. Gaz Yorkshire.

Thing is they are not so mobile( like a caravan), as in 'you' could not tow it to somewhere else. They are technically mobile ( as in they could be moved) to get round rules for permanent dwellings, fools are easily misled, idiots are even easier, people should do their home work before parting with any money even a deposit, get everything in solicitor backed writing too( it's well worth it), do not trust words of sales mouths. Although conveyance solicitors are expensive it’s worth it. I wouldn’t dream of buying without reports and searches.

It's hard to show most of these people any sympathy. The MAJORITY of these people shown, went ahead with their purchase without obtaining any legal representation, and we're not talking about a few hundred pounds where anyone might take that chance, we are talking about life changing amounts, BUT STILL, they proceeded without the services of lawyers etc. There's an age old saying, which always proves itself to be true - "A fool and their money, are easily parted". The world has never been an honest place and anyone who expects it to be honest, has to be a fool.

Sorry but anybody that pays £120,000 - £165,000 for a .........CARAVAN!! Really shouldn't be surprised that they end up losing all their money!!

I looked into purchasing one of these mobile homes a few years ago after visiting a friend who had hired one for a few months,it was lovely and very cosy and ideal for what I wanted. After making inquiries about prices Ect. and then asked about the fees for living there,they were downright theft and increased annually. After careful consideration I decided not to bother and bought a bungalow instead after being told they were for holiday use only but nobody will bother if you live there the year round, thank God I did my homework and decided not to purchase.

What is WRONG with these people? Who would hand over so much money without using a Lawyer?!!!

If Councils don't give out Permanent Resident Licenses for these sites at all anyway in the first place (i.e. there's no way these sites would be able to become 'legal'), then despite the loss of those who have been conned out of their money, they should've known better than to fork out the money without consulting a solicitor or legal expert first. All the while, the housing calamity becomes worse and worse and people become more desperate.

It's the lack of enforcement from councils that lets these park owners get away with this. Regular checks would soon reveal what is really going on. But councils turn a blind eye for years on end.

I’m sorry but who the hell spends over 100,000 on a mobile home and does not perform any due diligence at all. Mobile homes depreciate rapidly, they may seem cheaper than a regular home but the real cost is much higher unless it’s an older well cared for mobile home and you own the land that it’s on. A fool and their money is easily parted

I've never had any interest in living in a caravan park, but I've known for 50 years that it's illegal to do so permanently. How come these people, even now, had no idea?

For some residents, this programme will have done more harm than good. People who happily live full time in their home may now be evicted by the council!
