Ben Moore's New Regal eggshell formulation is absoloutely horrendous. It dries so fast you can't even keep a wet edge / back roll properly without ruining the paint job. Tonnes of other people getting refunds / complaining online. They also added more "sheen" to all of their finishes too so you can no longer get touch up paint / are forced to repaint the whole wall with their garbage stuff. Just go to Sherwin & save everyone a headache.

Is that Behr scuff x or Benjamin Moore scuff x? Would you recommend Benjamin Moore scuff x on cabinets?

Good evening. I’ve been binging on your paint videos. It’s time for me to paint our family room and I’m looking at PPG SPEEDHIDE and I’m debating between a flat or an eggshell finish. I painted this room too many years ago and I think that it was with Dutch Boy which was a pretty cheap paint. The kids are grown and have moved away so it’s just me and my wife. I don’t really want a reflective sheen so I’m thinking about a flat finish. The walls are sort of a yellowish cream and I’m thinking of a light gray or stone color. It’s a low traffic area. My wife has her TV in the living room and mine is down in the family room. We get along fine after 33 years of marriage but she watches her shows and I watch mine. LOL Do you think that a flat finish would be OK? I don’t want to go through all of the work involved and not be satisfied. Thank you.

Who has time to brush paint and apt . So this isn’t good for a big job like walls ?

I need to paint a massage therapy room and I was recommended Dynasty paint because of the durability ans washability to remove massage lotion hand prints. The rep at the paint store said Dynasty was the paint for our specific use. I'm concerned about the fast dry tacky aspect you mentioned. In your opinion, for our use, is Dynasty Behr the way to go or is there a better paint for my project? Value your thoughts.

I love behr dynasty in matte. I have done my doors with it. Im torn wether or not i should do a satin if it comes in Satin for my cabinets. Any suggestions im not a big fan of semi gloss. Only thing is with the matte it leaves a but of an orange peel finish. Any suggestions?

Hardener is basically an isocyanate based catalyst, crosslinker is polyaziridine. I’ve used crosslinker in various waterbased products and for the most part it is compatible. I would assume the same is true for hardeners aka isocyanate catalysts. There are a few interesting peer reviewed articles on the chemical reaction and polymerization of isocyanates catalyst on waterbased acrylic urethanes

I’ve sprayed it twice but my local pro B&M replaced it with Centurion after too many pro’s complained about it. I prefer Centurion, and it cost less. You can’t beat Renner though, but I don’t like mail ordering paint.

So many people who I've spoken to about painted cabinets say this is just a temporary, less expensive, fix and that cabinet replacement is the best solution. Heard of several different paint brands being used, some better than others, but those with painted cabinets tell me cabinet replacement is the ultimate way to go. Painting is just a band aid approach that looks good at first. Heard of and seen lots of issues with chipping, peeling, discoloration, etc...after a few years.

Thank you. Just painted a house with SW emerald. The customer touched the wall with his palm and the wedding ring left a black line that doesn’t come off.

This guy's prices are ridiculous. You can do shutters, trim and boards for much less than what he says.😦

Ben Moore Satin Impervo oil base

Hi I am trying to cover my home walls with variation of colors from mid light to dark grey that my renter put on walls while it was rented out, trying to select a good quality paint from PPG that will give me a great cover since I am going to be living back in my home. I don’t want flat walls so which will give me a nice sheen look or should I get eggshell ? I would appreciate your opinion pls. TY!

Are the best brushes syntheti or natural bristle please? Also, would you use diffrent products on cupboards that have had thermafoil plastic removed, leaving MDF to seal and paint? You may not see this but thought I'd take a chance. Here in U.K, HARRIS brushes are supposed to be the best.

Thank you for this comprehensive review; I had not been familiar with C2, and, upon further reading, I see it's a paint for craftsman via the company's extensive color palette as well as its superb manufacturing processes that yield nonpareil coverage, durability and consistency. My only concern is buying the correct *amount* of paint for the job; C2 is not available at a bricks-and-mortar retailer near me (I don't think?), so if I need an extra gallon right away, that could be an issue ... and I don't want to purchase an extra gallon "just to be safe." Maybe I'll try a small job to discern C2's *actual* coverage in real-world conditions, and then, if the math is correct, I will expand to painting in larger areas. Thanks again!

Emerald is the best but the most$$. Pro -Mar 200 is my favorite because of $$ has all the stuff in it one needs. Unless you wash walls have lots of kids. Pro Mar 200 is a professional commercial paint not usually sold to home owners

I found that spraying Emerald in heavier coats allowed it to smooth out better. Cure time is quite long, though.

Is Behr Urethane Alkyd Enamel the equivalent of Advance and Emerald? It is much more affordable than either of them. It has a longer drying time than Behr Cabinet paint.

For a DIY painter doing cabinets, is there any advantage to using a clear polyurethane over any of these alkyd paints? Or a spray such as Helmsman Spar. Could an acrylic paint followed by a poly provide durability similar to the very expensive Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams cabinet and trim paints.

I bought this for painting furniture. It's expensive, but more affordable than the foufy furniture paints that cost $30 for a 16 oz container

Ultra last and aura should not be compared to emerald. They are a better quality paint. Emerald is closer to regal and manor hall. Also Ultra Spec is better than supper paint. Sherwin williams is an average paint but great at marketing. The resins used by ppg and ben moore in their ultra ladt an aura are superior to sw. I refuse to use sw paint. Over price and they make claims that are not true,

I like that Behr paint that stuff goes on good painting the bathroom with it I'm not a professional painter that stuff came out real good. I love that Behr paint I'm sorry. But every day of the week.

In my experience nothing beats Benjamin Moore…

Just painted my cabinets -First step used liquid sandpaper. -Second step 2 coats primed with BIN shellac. -Third step very light sand with 180 grit just to remove little bumps -Fourth 2 coats of Emerald paint.

How did you apply it? Is it possible to use HLVP to spray it or will a micro fiber mini roller do just a well. The thing with is the paint it is harder than the Advance paint plus it dries for recoat in 6 hours. Cabinet Coat tested at 2B where Advance was 6B in the Wolff-Wilborn test.
