Kingstanding test route - Cooksey Lane turning right onto Kingstanding Rd

Hi folks, I have compiled a short video clip covering Cooksey lane onto Kingstanding Rd and also the same route in reverse. This is basically a central reservation traffic island that merges onto a dual carriageway. Main purpose of creating this, is so many pupils misread the keep left signs and bollards, essentially committing a major positioning fault on their driving tests. I hope this video...

College Rd roundabout - following the road ahead - lane discipline
Просмотров 5466 месяцев назад
Pupils should be able to assess how many lanes are approaching a roundabout and subsequently take up the most suitable lane for the direction of travel. Please avoid "straight lining" roundabouts. This term refers to just driving in a virtual straight line upon entering a multi lane roundabout, as this is both lazy and dangerous to fellow road users and would most likely cause an accident. @itsyungdexy your welcome and congratulations on passing your driving test 👏... Safe driving 🚗
Hi, During 5:25 when turning right on the traffic lights, would it be better to wait behind the line if there is already a vehicle in front or is it okay for two vehicles to be in that space?
@marjanabegum6368 two cars are allowed to enter the middle of the cross roads. Only wait behind the white stop line if you're the 3rd car. As two cars have plenty of time to cross through once the traffic lights change to red. Good question 👍
Thank you for these videos
@annak9646 your welcome and good luck on your learning to drive journey 👍🚘🚦
I noticed a lot of times when the indicator was on very early or went off early (like at 23:06)
@ryanunderwood1798 bssically because Tom was driving slower up the hill due to the parked cars. His timimg of signal wasn't as early as you're thinking. Generally, we signal approximately 70 - 100 yards to junction when travelling at 30mph any faster the signal would have to be earlier...

Very informative. Thankyou so much .Can you please make more mocks test videos on kingstanding test centre routes . Specially the difficult turns or tough routes where mostly learners fails.
I am in the process of producing more content over the coming wks. Indeed i will. Thnks ✔️
Quick question, wanted to ask because my test center is kingstanding as well. If there are cars parked on the left side of the road and your in the left lane, and your trying to move into the right but nobody is giving you any sort of way, is it okay if you just stop a safe distance behind the parked cars and wait until some gives you way and move into the right? Just wondering this because I don’t wanna end up making the mistake.
If you're talking about cars parked on the left lane of a dual carriageway. Then yes, you'll just have to stop ✋️ and wait for a safe opportunity to move into the right lane. ✅️ The ideal situation would be to forward plan ahead and look as far into the road to spot the hazards and anticipate and change lanes early....
@@CrashCourses2day thanks for getting back to me, another question I have is that when doing the test are you allowed to just say what your doing to the examiner. For example if I’m in the right lane and I just say out loud that “I’m in the right lane because I’m aware there are parked cars here and didn’t wanna be a nuisance on the road so I’m in there right lane to avoid it”. This would be better than rather him wondering why I’m in the right lane anyway or this could apply for various moments in my test. Am I allowed to do so?
@sahil7214 you can talk yourself through what you're doing. It's called a "commentary drive." However, it isn't necessary to explain your actions, as you've mentioned. The examiner has many yrs of driving experience and will naturally already understand why you are driving in a particular lane or driving a certain way. Dont undermine the examiners' experience. For example if you speak out aloud the reason you're checking the right blindspot before moving off from a parked position. They already understand you reason to do so....

@@CrashCourses2day thank you, yes .

I'm approaching you for a mock test
How is it a fault at 11:00
There's markings on the road, which my pupil strayed out of a little. It's a diagonal route that is marked with small white squares. Had he gone out even more, he could have hit the oncoming Vehicle also turning right opposite him.
When I first saw this in the beginning I didn't like how the instructor was acting I though he was quite rude.. However I realised he was acting like how an examiner wil act and then in the end he's real personality showed.. Sometimes examiners can really put you off because of their cold demeanour
Examiners have to stick to fairly strict protocol in terms of what they say during a driving test. Remember, they are getting paid to conduct a driving test and lookout for road safety. Generally, some examiners will do a little ice 🧊 breaker with pupils during their test. Once they see the pupil is driving fairly well, they may ask them what they do for a living. But sometimes, even that can hinder the nervous students' progress and add to them not being able to concentrate on the test. My mock tests I tend to role play a little more serious demeanour. The examiners are generally not rude it's just maybe the publics opinion of them. Give or take, you may get the odd Grumpy Ray of sunshine .... 🌞
I have a question about dual carriageways - do you have to turn into the left lane when turning left or can you turn into the right lane. the same for turning right as well - can you turn into the left lane.
Merging onto a dual carriageway, I would recommend you merge into the left lane. Unless that's closed or has hazards. For example, parked vehicles. Remember the right lane is the faster of the two lanes. It all depends on the road and potential hazards. (This is the 1st part of this clip) For an approach to turn right also known as major into minor road. That right must be done in the right lane. (This is the 2nd half of the clip) ✅️ I hope this clarifies your dilemma.
you explained that very well. Ive come across this before but didnt see that keep left bollard so i wasnt sure how dermine which central reservation we are supposed to be in.
I've actually marked a keep left arrow using my black marker pen. As my pupils kept getting confused. As it's a plain reflective sign. You must turn using the left of the two reservations. As the right of the two are for vehicles merging into the dual carriageway. Also, you want to be positioned directly opposite your entry road.
Thank you please more video with different routes
Most definitely I will be posting more on the coming wks.
I passed my test a week ago 2nd attempt with 3 minors thanks for the video's they really helped 🙂🙂
Congratulations, Wendy. I'm so glad the videos helped you. 🚗💯
26:25 he was in the left lane that turns left and went straight ahead? Would this be a fail
He was in the left lane and turned 2nd exit left. That's not straight ahead. Straight ahead was 3rd exit. You use left lane for turning any lefts at a roundabout. Remember at a roundabout you can have multiple left exits Any exit before 12 o clock is generally considered a left.
Congratulations, Aman, on passing your driving test 1st time today @ Kingstanding DTC. Only 1 driver fault recorded. (1st May 2024)🚗✅️
There are parked cars in the left lane should i leave the roundabout in the right lane or should i leave in the left and signal into the right.
Hi @Captainjacksparrow, if you start in the left lane, then exit in that lane and MSM into the right lane thereafter. Alternatively you can start off in the right lane and exit in the right lane. It's easier to do this way. Especially if you see there are hazards/obstructions in your left lane. This shows good forward planning 👌
@@CrashCourses2day Thanks . Your response is very helpful.
@captainjacksparrow3925 good luck with your Driving test ✅️🚗
i want to do mock test with you please give me a chance i am living kingstanding area , how can i contract with you
Good information
Thnks 🚗✔️😊
Apologies if this is a silly question, but from the first example with the keep right bollard, would an examiner ever ask you to turn left, or is it only possible to turn right there? Thanks for uploading this video too, it’s super helpful!
I've just seen your msg now so apologies for the late reply. Examiners can also direct you to turn a left as well. That would be normal left position....
No question. Is a silly question. I always encourage my pupils to ask until their hearts' content. After all, you're all students here to learn. You're driving. lsns should be non judgemental, in this respect.
He was so good and at the end he messed up
He sure did a good drive it was in the last 10 mins or so he committed those serious faults. 🚗🚦
Whats the speed serious fault? What is the speed limit there?
Hi, it's a 30 mph dual carriageway with a downhill gradient. My pupil accelerated to 35mph, then upon realising, he started to slow the car back down.
@@CrashCourses2day thank you

@@CrashCourses2day Thanks for that I appreciate everything I learned few important things ☺️
@user-gu5zi7oc3f life is an endless cycle of learning to learn 😎🚗✨️
I thought you wouldn’t have to stop for the pedestrian unless it was a zebra or if they step out into the road? Wouldn’t it get marked as hesitation if he stopped at the junction
Generally speaking, you only have to stop for pedestrians at pedestrian crossings, pelican, puffin, toucan, equestrian, or zebra. Or if a pedestrian was standing at a junction waiting to cross. More so if you're approaching a Give way or stop line as opposed to approach to turn into the road. As it may not be safe to stop on approach to turn left or right due to vehicles rear ending You from behind. Obviously, if a pedestrian steps straight out to cross on your side of the road, you will have to respond with the best course of action, bearing in mind what's behind you before stopping. These pedestrians in this clip just stepped into the road as we were driving past, and it would have been too dangerous to apply brakes fear of rear-end collision. P.s. On a driving test, if you ignore pedestrians waiting to cross at a Give way line, for example, then, this would be marked as a serious fault. Remember, the hierarch of vulnerable road users and pedestrians are on top of this list then followed by bicycles 🚲motorbikes, cars 🚗 vans, and lorries 🚚
Congratulations, Tom, another pass today @ Kingstanding DTC. only 3 driver faults recorded.... 25th March 2024 🛻✨️
Great instructor realy enjoying watching your mock tests 🙂
Glad you like them!
Due to an editing discrepancy, the timing of the 1st 2 faults are as follows: 8.54mins too close to royal mail van. 9.00mins - driving towards roundabout overspeeding downhill. School boy editing error 😂
Best instructor
Thnks Sidra for your lovely comment. I hope ur well 🛻✨️😊

Your welcome, glad it's helping you Any advise you can always ask me. Good luck on your driving test 🛻💫
For the first crossroad where he had to turn right, why was that marked as a fault? Was his positioning incorrect?
Basically, Arslan strayed the white markings on the floor.. Even though it was only a little bit. Had he gone too far out of them, it would have been marked as a serious positioning fault. As he could have caused an accident with a vehicle approaching opposite. I hope this answers your Q. 🛻✨️✔️
@@CrashCourses2day understood, thank you
When you say driver fault, you mentioned it’s because the student didn’t look in the mirror before changing lanes. So would you normally enter the left lane then go in the right or go in the right straight away? I’m talking about the first roundabout, taking the 2nd exit, they exited onto the right hand lane because of the parked cars on the left. Apologies, I’m asking because I always get stuck on that too.
Good Q. No need to apologise, Sahil most definitely should have checked his right mirror before changing back into the right lane. This is where I gave him a minor for use of mirrors changing direction. If you enter in the left lane your should aim to exit into the left changing lanes with effective use of mirrors, thereafter. To simplify this situation further, you could just enter the roundabout in the right lane and also exit into the right ✅️ .. If you can see, there is a hazard in the left lane over the roundabout. Why not just enter and exit in the right lane. This is perfectly OK to do, shows good forward planning.
Thank you
You're welcome
