    Just wow! Now I’m glad that I didn’t start 324 because now I’ll start the two together since it uses the same floss! Kill two birds with one stone! Thank you for the explanation and the sequel! Happy stitching!

    I love the original 324, I am doing mine in 40 ct, with one thread over two. I was hoping to do this one with the same count but after listening to this video, I see that I would have to it in 25 ct to make it shine

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc 6 дней назад

      Yes - it is hard to do this one on a particularly high count fabric - even with one thread, the stitches/patterns just get too "crowded"

    I loved stitching 324. I started as soon as I received it from market and ALMOST finished it before my knuckle replacement surgery on 4/10. I even took it to the hospital to finish the last 2 motifs. It was early and dark on the hour ride, then there was a cancellation so I went in immediately to surgery! It was the first thing I worked on as soon as I could hold a needle. I’ll be getting the Sequel, although any Blackwork I’ve started was never finished. I have high hopes for this one!

    Coincidentally I was stitching on 324 (the original) when I switched on RUclips and I saw the title of your latest FlossTube. I’ve been hoping this was coming soon since you mentioned it in a previous FlossTube and I’ve already purchased my PDF pattern. Many years (and I mean decades) ago I stitched a needlepoint stitch sampler in lots of colours of Eva Rosenstand stranded cotton (from Denmark). I had completed about 3/4 when we moved house and it was damaged. By that time it was very difficult to find replacement threads so it was abandoned and I’ve always wanted to do something similar I really like that there are so many different motifs rather than the same stitch being repeated many times in a band and I know from stitching on 324 that I love the colours When you first mentioned the possibility of “the sequel” I started to keep a strand or 2 of each colour as I used them so I won’t have to do as much finding of the colours as I did for the first few weeks . So far I have stitched with strands pulled from WIPs - as I pick up a project that uses DMC I check to see if it’s needed for 324 so the addition of the thread colour list is much appreciated. Now I need to check my fabric stash as I’m not sure I have any 25 count evenweave (yet). Thank you for all the hours you have put into this project - a true labour of love

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc 12 дней назад

      So smart about keeping out an extra strand or 2 as you were stitching 324! I suspect there might be some out there that would wish they had done this 🙂

    Wow!!! I am going to start with 324 because, uhm....I'm a realist when it comes to my abilities. Did you mention the name of the embroidery piece on the pre-printed fabric? I actually started doing needlework when I was much, much, much (repeat as many times as you can) younger and that piece looks lovely!!! You have a remarkable gift (and plenty of courage working on goldwork. What you've done so far looks splendid! I, again with relative objectivity, have decided that, for such things as goldwork and stumpwork, I shall be The Audience). Cross stitch and embroidery? I shall thunder througbh with my startling enthusiasm... Thank you for such a wonderful floss tube!!!! Now...of to purchase 324... Take good care and please have an excellent day!

    Arlene, thank you so much for once again putting on an absolutely fantastic retreat! I had such a wonderful time and it's the 2nd year I've brought my Mom and it has been great to spend that time with her and also with my friends (both new and old). I did not share this with you last year -- but when you granted my Mom a last minute spot she was just preparing to undergo breast cancer treatment. She had an amazing time and met new friends! She had never been to any sort of craft gathering! A few days after the retreat, she underwent her first chemo treatments. This past weekend I brought her back and she is now 100% cancer free. We reminisced on how we had seen her oncologist the day we traveled to NJ (we literally had our suitcases in the room with us) and now we are on the other side of it all. How quickly time passes.. Thank you so so much for hosting this now special space for her to come make, chat with, and meet new friends! It has also been special for me. I attended in 2019 --- met my now best friend (who will also be my maid of honor next year 2025 at my wedding!!) in person for the 1st time and we shared a room and stitched the nights away. We knew each other online from streaming cross stitching live on Twitch for over 2 years! I also got to meet 2 other NYC based stitchers and we now meet periodically for stitchy meetups in the city. I also have some pretty heavy social anxiety and as the years have passed at these retreats I find myself able to relax more, chat easier with people, and let my guard down. Maybe in the coming years I'll finally be someone who walks around to each table and introduces myself 😅 for now though I enjoy staying put and happily chatting with whoever floats over. Thanks again!! ❤❤❤

    I tend to think of frame sizes (even though I don’t frame a lot of my pieces) on 14/28 or 16/32 counts to judge size. So, piece that would roughly fit into a 5x7 (largest dimension less than 100) would be small, a piece that would fit into a 8x10 (largest dimension around 160) would be medium, and the rest are large.

    When I think about a project being small, medium, or large, it depends on the fabric count. 200x200 on 28 count would be a large project. On 56 count it is the same amount of stitching, but at half the finished size would be a medium. My favorite fabric to stitch on is 40 count verdal, so for that 100-200 per side is a good range for medium.

    I always enjoy your videos. It was interesting hearing about the retreat. I will into that in the future. Beautiful bag and pattern! Can’t wait until that becomes available in August. I love large projects and full coverage but I also like smalls. For me my sizes would be Small: 100x100 and below, Medium: 100+ x 100+ to about 200 sq; Large would be anything over 200 square. As far as fabrics, I am an Aida stitcher and I like lots of different designers. Give me a shout if you make it to the DC area, I live just outside of the city. Stay well and happy stitching!

    I would absolutely LOVE to do your 324 2.0 pattern! Please go ahead and make it into a chart. It would be a fantastic way to learn some stitches I’d otherwise never come across.

    I have a method which is add up the stitch count along the two sides then divide by 2 and if that number is Less than 50 = Mini 50 - 100 = Small 100 - 150 = Medium 150 - 200 = Large 200+ = BAP e.g How to Live would be 170+190 = 360. 360/2 = 180 so I would class it as a Large Festival of Lights would be 83+50 = 133. 133/2 = 66.5 so I would class it as a Small Square patterns like Elegant Lace can just go by the 1 side so 169 and I would count that as a Large Of course this method can skewed by long skinny patterns like Symmetrical Squares, or small stitch count but full coverage so then I go with my gut but it's a good jumping off point ☺

      Okay, first of all, I love that you used my designs for your examples ❤ And, yes, other people have mentioned the average the two sides as well. Thanks so much!

      @worksbyabc of course I did! 😄 forgot to mention I like this method too because it works no matter what size fabric I decide to do it on or over 1 vs over 2 because it takes me (roughly) the same amount of time to do the same amount of stitches so going by the inch size of the finished piece doesn't work for me 🪡
