A few things went wrong in the making of this video but here it is. I forgot to turn the stabilizer on in the camera settings so there's quite a bit of vibration and we started to run out of time so I didn't get a chance to film a lot or narrate what I was doing. In the next video (part 2) I will explain everything and show some results.

An overview of what you should do to prep your mower for a new season. This video is not model specific but I will be demonstrating on a Kawasaki FR651V. I plan to replace mine so will not be addressing them in this video.

I chose to get a "knockoff" Stihl MS 660 for a powerhead on my chainsaw mill. Its cheaper to get into and cheaper to repair if an issue occurs. An alaskan mill is much harder on a chainsaw than normal felling/cutting rounds.

    I found this information on Kubota Z231/Kawasaki. Let’s face it: nobody likes spending hours tinkering with a mower instead of enjoying their well-deserved downtime. Thankfully, the Kubota Z231KW 42 understands your aversion to tedious maintenance. Here’s why it’s a breeze to keep this mower in top shape: <Tool-Free Maintenance: Changing blades or performing routine maintenance tasks is as easy as pie, thanks to the tool-free design of the Kubota Z231KW 42. No need to dig through your toolbox; just snap, twist, and you’re done!>

    Worked like a charm. I set my bx23s on second pin with stock shaft. Ran at low rpm, handle on hydraulics and PTO 3/4 the way to full PTO and reduced 3 point lift speed to absolute minimum possible. Dropped down into each hole no more than 4” at a time, then rocket back up to clear the auger. Continued to reach max depth. Then bumped up pto speed to clear any residual debris. If I would start to bog down, I’d instantly pop up. If I started to jam, I’d stop pto immediately and fwd/backward while raising 3point. I had one a little more stuck, but fwd/bwd earlier widened the section so I made sure it was as in the clear as possible and slowly bumped pto/throttle up to clear auger while rocking. 🤞🤞🤞 and TY!!❤

    When checking oil with dipstick you might want to turn dipstick counter clockwise and it with drop down a bit more.. It's kind of funny as sometimes when checking oil you could end up in that exact spot and it drops all the way down but most times it doesn't drop down and you must turn it left for it to drop down properly to check oil level. Also I'm not sure if you started motor to let filter to completely fill and then check oil after it sits a bit as if filter not completely full from running that can give you a false oil level reading...

    After you push your saw like that be sure to let it idle for a while so it can cool down. This is good practice before and after anytime you use your saw. I follow this practice when I am doing some heavy bucking. 40:1 mix is good and I reccomend amsoil. I like chicanic videos but she doesn’t always get things right. These saws can last and are readily repairable.

    Rookie here…With no check valve, are you not worried about the water inside your pump freezing and breaking the pump itself? Also, if leftover water in your basin doesn’t drain quick enough, could it freeze your float sensor? Thanks for the videos. I learned a lot

      @cameronmundell7190 5 месяцев назад

      Those were all concerns of mine but after about 2 years it has never froze even during extreme cold periods (around 0 degrees Fahrenheit) I assume the depth of the pit protects it from freezing. It’s well below the frost line. I’m in Ohio. Depending on your location you may not have the same results.

    Thank you for the video 👍🏻 I live in the northeast where temperatures can fall subzero. My window well fills up in big storms. I was contemplating putting a sump pump but was told that it may not withstand freezing weather. What has been your experience? I have a really good cast iron pump, somehow I don't think it will freeze up but wanted to get your opinion. Thanks!

    • @cameronmundell7190
      @cameronmundell7190 6 месяцев назад

      I live in Ohio, we have had several days with below freezing temps and I have never had an issue. I assume it is due to the depth underground my sump is placed. The biggest suggestion I’d make is to not use a check valve. If the pipes stay filled with water they will most likely freeze up by the surface. I’d rather the pump run a little more frequently from some slight drain back vs a freezing pipe. It doesn’t run much, mainly during big rainfalls or large snow melt off.

    • @skale1963
      @skale1963 6 месяцев назад

      That's great to know. Ok I will put the pump in a container with holes in gravel without a check valve. I suspect the duct or drain from my window well to the sump pump inside my basement is clogged. So while I am removing gravel I can also diagnose that f that's the problem. Thank you once again! 🙏

    Hey brother, just an fyi… Obviously, I don’t know your tractor, but on my tractor, I close the three-point float valve To a point where it’s skimming the top, every few inches when the auger tries to grab it bounces against the 3pt and immediately releases kicking out the dirt, it doesn’t bore fast as yours, but a 40 inch hole takes me about a 60-90 seconds.. hope this helps

  • @cjones1262

    The two common things im seeing in all these videos is either to small a tractor and county line. The tractors like this one are barely at the minimum pto hp rating for these augers. So while you can still use them it does make it hard. The other issue is 3 point lift capacity just isnt that high making it much easier for the auger to get stuck. Doing what he did with a 4x4 is a good plan

  • @markcdeyoung3118
    @markcdeyoung3118 9 месяцев назад

    Seems like a person could do something with the cutting edge to make it cut less aggressive maybe take smaller bites maybe grinding upward angle on the bottom of the cutting edge or maybe sweep it back a little bit and let it eat more from The inside of the auger bit or maybe weld a V block wedge just above the cutting edge to help it modulate itself against the dirt that's being pulled up From what I'm seeing the front bucket skid steer style auger drills are a hell of a lot easier to work with And you have down pressure and reverse so you can just back that thang up definitely much easier on the neck after 8 hours of drilling a bunch of holes And it probably doesn't lift the ass end of the tractor up like it would the front end

    • @cameronmundell7190
      @cameronmundell7190 8 месяцев назад

      I definitely agree with you, the loader mounted style run by hydraulics is way better. I don't use this attachment nearly as much as I used to but if I ever started using it frequently again I would be interested in upgrading to a loader mount one with reverse. I like your idea about making the auger less aggressive.
