    Thank you so much for simplifying it. If I receive 75/100 marks in Calculus and the Class average in my University is 43, and total number of students for this subject in this semester are around 8635 and the marks reqruired to achieve 4/4 GPA are 85, do you think I could get 4 GPA as my university follows relative grading. Also, I'd appreciate it if you give a relatively easier formula for me to calculate the grade using the above information.

    Y did you take 2k+1? Instead just take k as a odd integer? How would we know that we should do 2k+1?

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      Good question. Think of a table with the first column representing the index of numbers and the second column listing the respective odd number for each index number. Now we need to come up with a relationship between each entry in the first column to its respective number in the second column. What would that relationship be? That relationship should be a general form and it should be able to give you an odd number for any given index number. If k represents the index number then 2k+1 would be that relationship. Try for k equal to 0, 1, 2, 3...

    Rules are rules. If the standard is “no devices” then there is no question to the student’s infraction. Bottom Line: students must follow the rules or face consequences.

  • @rsareal
    @rsareal Год назад

    The student has been warn twice and still using the smartphone. Any teacher have the right to disqualify the student in test for cheating and disregard the warning. The device can be returned if the parent comes to consult this matter and should discipline the student behaviour.

    There were no phones when I was in college. But did have a class where the professor made 2 exams. One for students who wanted to use every available resource - books, papers and other exams Another exam strictly with your knowledge. No one passed the open book exam. I choose the other exam and did very well. Another time in a statistics class the professor warned against cheating handed out exams and left the classroom. I was lost but did try. Everyone else was paying another student for answers. As I closed the door leaving the professor was there and asked me who was cheating It got to be a big deal and was bumped up to the dean. I finally confessed every thing because I was afraid of being kicked out after numerous meetings with the dean. Even though I hadn’t a clue what was going on I passed with a C. Everyone else was removed from the school.

    • @SolvingSkills

      Wow that is a hell of a story. I'm glad you survived that course. Although I don't think baiting students to catch them is very fair

  • @Triss_Joy
    @Triss_Joy Год назад

    Sounds like an entitled man-child who just learned a hard lesson about following rules. Yes, Chad, the rules DO apply to you: you’re not special. It’s immaterial if he says was cheating or not, you can’t just take his word for it. He should know better. Stick to your guns, friend-You are absolutely in the right, here! You went above and beyond reminding the class of the rules AND giving a second chance at 15mins. Your school/dean/admin should back you, if he decides to be a pain in the a$$.

    • @SolvingSkills

      Very well said, and thank you so much for your support. The diminishing respect for rules and ethics these days, needs mutual assurance from people who still support merit.

  • @PeytonOver
    @PeytonOver Год назад

    I agree. You gave multiple warnings, and "I wasn't cheating" is exactly what a person who was caught red-handed would say. You understood that anyone possessing a phone has a wild advantage over every student, you cannot verify that he was not cheating, and pardoning him may hurt him but you also will be disrespecting everyone else who put forth the effort to pass the test naturally.

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      That is exactly what I tried to do. Though many students don't understand this while some of them appreciate our efforts

  • @m.barz5
    @m.barz5 Год назад

    You're right. But there could be a reason why someone needs to have access to their phone (maybe a parent/loved one in surgery). Ask before the test starts for people with any reasons, have them tell you. They sit up front in easy full view of you and if they have to check their phone, they do it at your desk. So you can confirm they are not looking up answers.

    What happens if global variable val gets modified before creating the child process. I.e before fork. What value of val will be there in its address space

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      Parent and child process have separate address spaces. In this code the child is only modifying the variable in its space, parent still has its own copy. If the modification is done before fork, then both will have the same modified value.

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      It has to do with the buffering of the output of a c program.

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      The order of printing is non-buffered output then buffered output,

    • @SolvingSkills
      @SolvingSkills Год назад

      all printf are buffered, the problem with buffered output is that the system outputs when the buffer is full or when new line begins,
