I learned a LOT! Thank you sir!!!
One of the BEST tutorial on recording music.
Just re-mixed some live drums using these tips, it blew me away... what a difference... and the whole thing without samples... THANK YOU for this amazing video, probably the best drum mixing video ever :)

Why do you use a trash and room mix for drum mixing(Can you do without )
@@kojoXAppau because I can 😂 I love working and experimenting with different microphones. And in my experience a so called “trash mic” a cheap microphone I generally use during recording a hyper compressed version of the kit helps with bringing forward a lot of texture when blended in parallel. Instead of only using parallel compression I can season to taste the sound of my drums bringing forward that mic. But going back to your question, sure you can do without it. It’s all about what if your sonic vision. I hope this clarifies
@@musictechnologytipsandtricks yes it does answer my question, thank you
I have a problem with the room control. It raises the volume to the maximum and suddenly closes it to the maximum as if it is hanging. Is there a way to fix it?
in the future im getting this ..good lesson really didnt need to sign up for school for the c24 controller ...love this this

@@musictechnologytipsandtricks i defenily did
Just deleted this plugin... DON'T BUY IT, DON'T USE IT, it ONLY can cause problems. At best it's snake oil that MIGHT add a TINY amount of saturation to each track, at worst it messes up your sound per track... it WILL mess up bass sounds, it WILL mess up synths that are resonant, it WILL mess up random sounds like claps. The idea that it is "summing" is nonsense.
Great explanation, thanks Matteo ;)

Ironically, you didn't apply de-breath and de-mouth clicks
@@allhailalona I know right!? Because ironically I was talking ONLY about the De Plosive module. Thanks for the sharp suggestion ;-)
I’ll have to watch this again, it seems similar to an operation when using VI in Pro tools to save CPU power. I ordered Ni last Xmas and have not gotten around to downloading it yet from Sweetwater.
@@leftofcenter4 eheh I know at first it’s rather complex. But the more you get used to it the easier will be to set it up in place. Ps you better get going with that NI download ;-)

i forgot and left the noisegate filter on as i recorded an interview...now some word are completely muted in my final audio is there a way to recover the audio from the muted areas?
What about drums? if you use a VU meter on drums and aim to 0 most likely you'll start clipping on your LUFS meters
Cut up this video in to different clips because its a great that more people need to see

Matteo you're great man! I got everything in this lesson in! Thx!
Wow amazing. Thanks a lot. I think finally u start to understand the most important parts of it☺️
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for in-depth explanation 🙏 The only question I have is about conversion from +4dbu to -18dbfs. I heard before that this values can’t be directly compared. The headroom is good for sure, it will save you from the mistake for the most of the time. But it’s not technically correct way to reconcile the levels. I would find the level of analog clipping and fit it to 0dbfs. In the scenarios where you don’t want any distortion in your sound it may give better representation and more dynamic range.
Is it on the standard version, or only in the Advance version?
is there a way I can send you a drum track to have it mixed like this? I can't seem to get it sounding right., let me know thanks
You always want to mix your drums in context of the song. Sending just the drums to be mixed is pointless. You could have drums that sound fantastic on their own, but get lost when brought back in with the other instruments. Mixing is all about balancing every element so that they work together.
@@RMHendrickson well I would send in the song track in stereo with no drums and then the drum tracks separately. That’s what I was implying.
@@BlackWaterCanyon That still doesn't work. You want to mix everything at the same time. Mixing them alongside a stereo track of other mixed tracks is never going to sound as good as doing it all together. My advice to you is to watch more mixing tutorial videos and practice.
Thanks for this great teaching , Blessings !!!
Wonderful. This is the answer to the question of dB and everything is explained. Hopefully i can now get my captured sound out to video mix with the legal values. Having just loop calibrated my field recorder and being used to tape i was lost with the digital stuff. Levels everywhere. Many thanks!
Happy it was useful to you @alister! Please if you can kindly like and subscribe to support the work I do for the creation of this kind of content. ;-) ciao!
very well described 🙂
your voice is too louder than instruments
This channel is pure gold!
Excellent and very clear information regarding metering, thank you Matteo.
when he pulled out the scarlett it felt like home
Thank you for info!
Interesting and quite useful feature when you work in RX standalone (and also if you dont want tu use your third party plugins inside RX) but If I would be in Pro Tools (ora any other given DAW) I would just deal with it there with the right use of compressors (downward and perhaps upward compression). That would save me the manoeuvre of sending this file out to RX and back. Unless there are other things to fix in this file that can be done only in RX standalone - then its worth to send it there fix and use leveller module on this occasion ...and then I guess also compressor anyway ;) Cheers
i study sound engineering while skipping class in 9th grade
Great video. I learned a lot by watching this. I was wondering if there is a way to calibrate the home-interfaces that some of use? Is it relatively easy to do, or does it require some expense? I'm referring to bringing up the decibel level of -16 to -18. Thanks.
Great Video man!
Thank u so much for this lessons, the game changing for me was the calibration of home studio devices
Great Video!! QUESTION:If i use the NLS in the first insert slot only for coloring.Do i put the Nls Bus Plug in as well on my Master Chanel Insert? If yes where to route the nls chanels on none groupe or group 1-8. Thx
