Felling and Chipping a 50' Fir Log Whole - Bandit 12XP Winch
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Making a truck load of pure trunk-wood wood chips, no twigs or needles allowed. Dropped the fir (rakes were too low obviously) with a 400C 20", limbed it, backed the truck up, pulled it into the chipper with the winch and chipped the entire section of trunk in one piece. I've had the Bandit 12XP (with the 145hp gas) for over a year now and it is a great machine, especially with the winch. (Song...

What you can do with a Bandit 12XP and winch. Potato camera, no dialog, just demonstrations of what this machine can do. Wish I'd bought one sooner.
Dropping Wood - Snap-Cut Log Flip (GoPro)
Просмотров 586Год назад
On a dead grand fir removal, taking the trunk down with quick snap cuts and sending it into the woods. This one had a nice little flip when it landed flat on another log. Bad video angle, was the fist time using this new GoPro and didn't have it set up well.

Felling a 36" Fir on The Beach - Wedges & Maasdam Rope Puller
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.3 года назад
A dead doug fir, about 90' tall but over 36" DBH (short but fat) that had to come down. The tree was on a slope and had to be felled between the artificial stream and the stairs to the beach. No real limb weight and a light top, so the Maasdam Rope Puller was used to to pull it over along with wedges to send it onto the beach. The log was bucked off the slope and rolled across the driftwood cov...
Hazard Trees - Pulling Out Hung-up Grand Fir With The Truck
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.3 года назад
More dead grand firs to deal with. Cutting trees in this condition can be very sketchy, so applying force with the truck from a distance was the safest way to go. F350, 4x4-Low.
Dead Grand Fir Removals - Felling & Climbing
Просмотров 3403 года назад
Removing a few dead grand firs. The first could be felled, the other two had to be climbed and pieced out to avoid damage to other trees. After sending the top, I could drop a few logs, then fell the rest from the ground.
Dropping a 30' Log, Watching it Bounce
Просмотров 4633 года назад
A quick little video, felling the log down a slope at the end of a fir removal. I knew it would bounce in some amusing way, so I decided to film it. The saw is an 046 with a 28" bar. (Music 'Cold Morning - AudionautiX.com)
Hazard Pine Removal - Taking The Top
Просмотров 1293 года назад
Just a quick video of a problem pine tree. Around 100 feet tall, early stages of core-rot, the trunk took a big bend at around 40' and the rest was heavy and hanging over a pump-house. The tree was stripped to about 85', the top was pushed out to the driveway and wood was taken down in short tossable pieces. (Music: '5 Cents Back' audionautix.com)

Golden Hour Felling - Pulling an 85' Fir
Great work! Whats a fair price for this type of work and how many hours?
is it a gas engine or diesel?
I have a pickup built into a skidder , it works super nice to skid wood

Do you like the 12xp better than the 250xp?
Exellent video to my opninion - good introduction to the use of massdam puller - followed up by exellent 'on the job' video demonstration of actual use - including details on all basic technical maneuvres. Thank's
Which motor?
145hp gas.
Yes thank you for the demonstration. The slingshot you use can you tell me where to buy or did you make it yourself? I was thinking of a grappling hook to use any thoughts. Thank You
It's a product called the Big Shot, you can buy them from tree gear suppliers.
British Columbia or Washington state ?
WA near the border.
Nice job and nice hinge wood straight across . Lumber or firewood ?
Great video. How do you tie the pulling rope to the tree? What knots do you use?
Thanks, knot of choice here is a running bowline.
Excellent presentation. Thank you!
The Maasdam winches are so useful. Like you said, too bad they don't make one that would pull 3/4" line and deliver 3,500 pounds of pull. When pulling timber that is much larger with equipment and using 1/2" steel line choked only about 20' up the tree, I put in a wide face cut, but on the back cut I go about 2" below the horizontal part of the face cut. That way the back side of the tree is lower, locked against and slightly below the face hinge. That way it is less likely for the bottom of the tree to pull off the stump and cause a fall back. Nice video. Very clear and good audio.
Amazing
Thank you for making this video, and God bless you!
I have used the massdam puller many times over the last 20 years , that I have owned mine.. you have beautifully displayed , how useful this tool can be. I have never recorded what I’ve used it .. most excellent video Joe from California
the machine is so wonderful
Your amazing

insane
Excellent
Outstanding job. Thank you.
Excellent real-world use of the Maasdam R.P. Love mine. I'm also thinking about buying that 6-ton puller in your video.
Hadir supotr, lur❤
What chainsaw were you using in this video?
361 with a 20" bar.
Nice job. Spoken and done so like a pro!
Good detail coverage. I use a 3/4 ton truck, but with a movable winch (+ extra 5/8" line beyond the 90' synthetic winch line) so I can mount it on the front or rear hitch. It's not a perfect solution, but with snatch blocks it works ok for a one-man operation without too frequent a level of cab gymnastics. I've not tried using the truck alone and hopping in and out, moving it, etc. I was looking forward to seeing your product links, but apparently you don't post those?
Thanks for the info on the maasdam
Not the first video I watched on skidding using a truck, but by far the best one. Really well done, thanks!
Great work, and very motivational! Thank you for sharing your skills and knowlege. I will be employing similar techniques in the near future.
I do like that little wire chocker..where did you buy it?
Pulling hooked to front of truck is always alaways better..
Bowline on a bite..to attach i use...thanks
Ive been useing a 35ft 3 strand that came with maasdam with big dan biner ..sinches brush all way down to 2 inche s..grabs everytime on brush piles ..3 strand is cheap.i find itcworks better and its lighter..main thing lighter.for me im hurt .light is best.ive pulled trucks out pul
Great video thank you for sharing. I am impressed with how far you were able to pull the tree from its back lean. I have the same puller and it has made my tree falling easier and safer.
I love mine but tne problem I keep running into is the pawl that guides the free end back out of the capstain continuously eats the rope. Once under load, nearly every rachet will cause it to jam up one of the strands, nearly locking the whole mechanism. Using my off hand to pull the tail down and out of the winch is the only way I can get it to function reliably. Just wondering if youve ever run into similar?
Do you ever redirect so as not to pull the tree on you?
When necessary yes I do, all it takes is another sling around the redirect tree and a pully you don't mind abusing a bit. Most of the time however, I am able to find an anchor tree far enough away it isn't an issue.
Very good job nice soothing voice sticking with facts and matter at hand
Thanks. I've got no interest in drama or views, just trying to make an educational video here.
Nice video. At 53, im looking at doing this to save time and energy while getting fire wood in the mountains.
At 53 this year, I will be doing the same , but procuring sawlogs.
Smart combination !
I see the West Coast Saw exhaust port on your 200T, did you know there is supposed to be a hole drilled in it? Right where the spark screen goes. I just saw it on their website
Yep, I took the muffler out of the saw and drilled it. The new hole is right where the new pipe itself is, so it directs the exhaust past the plastic case.
Thank you for the reply. There were no instructions when I bought mine, I just put it on and ran it, it did seem odd though. I will be drilling all mine today. Jim@@cuttingincascadia5412
Thanks for posting this video, lots of useful tips.
About the maasdam puller?
Great vid I just bought one and looking for tips and tricks to help me along
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It gives me good perspective on working conditions as I plan my purchase.
Excellent video. Very well articulated and taught. Thanks for the work. 🙂👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙂
Nice anchor ! 💪👌
Work with what ya got!
Just what I needed for tree work by myself and no climbing.
i would like to know more about how you get a rope high up into the tree. Could you demonstrate that sometime, thanks good video.
As shown at about 11:14, line setting was done with a Big Shot, www.wesspur.com/throw-line/big-shot-line-launcher.html
Fantastic video. I’ve got a very similar situation with a large 80’ black spruce, much less lean but lots of limb weight the wrong side. Would this method be technically applicable?
