When my new Tortum started producing a new leaf in my care I thought I’d done something wrong lol it starts all balled up and twisted I thought oh no! It needs way more humidity! Lol it was fine I didn’t think I was into orchids either but in the fall, when the garden Centers get ready to shut down for winter, they sell off stuff cheap, got 2 big flower phalanopsis for 5$ each, gave one to mom-in-law, kept one, they’re both doing great still

Nice plants! If an anthurium is selfed the tag should say RLxFS S1 or Self. RLxFS x RLxFS is should be a F1 hybrid meaning 2 unrelated parents.

Your Phalenopsis is so pretty. It’s a nice deep color. I just started my Orchid collecting, but the challenge is cutting of the beautiful leaves when you see what the roots look like repotting. I don’t think I will buy anymore because of that, but if the ones I have grow back in the fall I may change my tune.

To help stretch your stratum since it’s so expensive mix perlite(also helps the roots breathe a bit since it can pack down on its own) & a bit of vermiculite & put it in a prop box, works like magic so fast! I root everything this way & over a year later it’s never failed me yet.☺️

i like the pots, but watering, schedules do not usually work for a number of reasons, but one is that the time it take for substrate to dry will change based on time of year and amount of humidity in the air.

I like those pots! They are so much more attractive than some I’ve seen and I am not comfortable with my plants sitting in water. Every time I’ve tried that the roots rot. I think I’ll buy a few and try it with some of my alocasia.

The problem with plants in water isn't being submerged but that the soil gets too condensed or is too organic.
