How about a mini scoop for the v rod?
Hey man very similar combo I’m getting done now I had a question do you know what pistons to run flat or a dished Apparently need a dish piston to suit the 2v heads and 302 rods Thanks mate
@@paulfeher4222 that’s cool👍🏼, you can run the typical flat tops with the valve relief pockets……but on a closed chamber 2V (302 2V heads) you should OR wise to lay back the chamber to reduce compression, also depends after the machine shop process how it’s all set up as far as the pistons up in the bore….eg: is it zero deck hight , 005”thou or more under etc…. Will determine the comp aswell 👍🏼……so using the 351 crank with the 302 6” rods is ok, but the right piston (piston height) Shld be used & not exceed zero deck height, with the chambers layed back a little compression Shld be in the mid-high 10
Someone’s completely forgot that they had them factory optioned in the VN-VS commodores for police and SS models. Currently fitting an 80 litre tank and painting silver for my 1997 VS Commodore. Such a great look. The over exaggerated look of the iconic Torana tanks get me every time. Mum told me that she used to save up all of her pocket money for a drop tank for her Torana back in the day. So cool.

Do you still have the crank? Im looking at modding my stock crank up. I have stock rods that have been polished, bushed, arp bolts fitted to domes.
@@RavenWoodLeader crank is long gone, been like 24yrs since selling off that short block……need to weigh up the cost & effort nowadays if it’s even worth doing or spending $ on an oem crank. Back then was different, we didn’t have or could afford aftermarket nice cranks🤷🏻♂️ I had the same rods/pistons also, used to spin it to 7300-7600rpm no issues 👍🏼🏁
@@69JANKS thanks for the response. I just figured I'd see if I can save a little and use one of my stock 4ma or 4mab cranks. If you'd recommend a crank to look into what would it be?
@@RavenWoodLeader right on👍🏼, the 4ma/b are good cranks, strong enough to withstand big NA power…..just use that then once all checked over/machined up…. Otherwise Scat or Eagle offer a Cast crank that pretty reasonable. But just use yours, crack test it & machine up the mains/journals & done ✅ 🏁

I have commented before about my Australian 302 2V quench chamber heads on my Cleveland. I went with 2.190 intake and 1.710 exhaust valves. Single pattern cam with. 540 lift and 270 duration at .015 lift. It's a really fun driver and satisfies the soul when going on a back road romp.

1500 hp !!!!
In 1965 when I was 14 my grandfather who in my opinion was the original petrol head, took me and my younger brother to Calder raceway to see Bob Jane race his navy blue Chevy Nova it was the first time I’d seen or heard a big American V8 and I was hooked. On that same day the great Eddie Thomas was giving a demo run of his front engined T/F dragster in an attempt to reach 200 MPH down the 1/4 mile, I think he missed the the mark by 1 MPH. Now we have street cars topping 200 in 1000 yards as opposed to 1440 and T/F dragsters doing 3&1/2 secs at nearly 400 MPH over the same distance. Boy how things have changed I’m 73 years old and I’m still hooked, to coin an old movie phrase there’s nothing like the smell of nitro methane in the morning
@@kevinrandall8327 right on KR👍🏼, i can just imagine the “all new” excitement in them early days of HP & racing….. once bitten by the bug of hot rodding it just stays with you. Some just don’t get it or understand it I’m afraid. Very cool & thanks for sharing👍🏼🏁
I wish we had those heads here in Canada
Hell yeah !
Another great fact filled post my friend. I remember the Eradicator Intake but never had the opportunity to use one. Looks good for a moderate build 👍
@@danielwilson6665 i agree DW, the port entry & size of the runners are a little restricted hence the claimed 6500rpm limit of it 🤷🏻♂️, 2V combos in general don’t really see getting up to 7k rpm+ , so despite the look of this intake can seem it has more in it, but was infact a well designed unit that did work with good HP/Tq as seen here from mild 351ci - 378ci & considerably all under 7k rpm 💪🏼🏁
@@69JANKS Excellent point, my friend. This particular manifold LOOKS like a total badass thanks to the taller height and provisions for nitrous/ F.I. bungs. I built many 2v Clevor engines back in the 80s and 90s. They were cheap and easy to build. The Cleveland blocks were just too pricey but 302 and 351 windsor blocks were and still are very plentiful and inexpensive. Those 2V closed chamber heads sold in 😊Australia were so interesting but scarce here in the states. Now the aluminum heads are more plentiful but if using a 302/5.0L block, you have so few reasonably priced intake manifolds.
@@craighansen7594 cool stuff Craig thanks for sharing, yes Closed Chamber 2V’s were the heads to use, I’ve done a few back then👌🏼🏁….351W blocks were scarce for us back then down here🤷🏻♂️🏁

G’day mate, I was just wondering if the intake was equivalent to a 3V port ?? As I thought the manifold was made in the late ‘90’s, which is about the time, I remember 3V’s came out. Do you have a 3V intake gasket or 3V port sizes to compare?? That block looks to be a factory modified and serious checked engine, due to all the ‘x’ and ‘y’ stampings. I’ve never seen a block with so many. The predators will definitely give her an old school look. A mate ran one on his clevo back in ‘94 if I remember correctly. As always, it’s good to see the rare and unique clevo parts, that were around in the days of old. The old clevo is a forgotten war horse in today’s barra’s and LS’s. Cheers mouse
@@ChrisArmstrong-ir3fg Thanks mate appreciate it, not too sure about a 3V as the casting is based off a Parker FW , don’t think Parker intakes were 3V , they had a version for filled 4V’s🤷🏻♂️ Block is an Aussie Black / Pillow version 👍🏼🏁
It definitely looks fully capable of handling the flow requirements of a well prepared set of 4-V heads. The extra height suggests that it wasn’t designed for vertical clearance in most production vehicles. Its destiny is a totally BADASS Cleveland build 👍
