A Southern Right Whale pops up out of nowhere in the Bowl at Bells just as a bus load of tourist were arriving, grabbed cam(af100, no time to set up tripod or to adjust manual cam settings, there is no auto), started filming.

Hotrod club enthusiasts on a tour to Bells Beach, then onto the Bellarine Penisula. "It's the only decent carpark around the coast, and could do with more amenities." Curently, there is one dilapidated toilet block and a coffee van.

Southside in a howling Northerly about half way through, don't usually see it like that. But the crowds, so glad I was around in the mid 70's. It's horrible down there now
The internet killed it. I'm 20 minutes from Tijuana. Baja was our playland. So many uncrowded breaks(far from Winki). Surf movies and mags had an impact but nothing like the www. Sitting around a campfire down there chugging some beers and a few shots and lips would loosen up and tales of waves seeped out. Old trucks that broke down some time,getting stuck,getting skunked it was all part of the game. Now its keyboard blabbers,gps,designer rigs and kids. We had it good. That footage of Winki was killing me. You guys have so much high quality surf.

The Great Ocean Road. Deakin University 1989-90. Been there done that. The year of the Great Seppo (me) shredding Bells & Winki Pop & Waratah Bay too. Still miss Spy v Spy and the great Melbourne nite life too. and Leanne from Auckland NZ. And the Cats and the Mag Pies FC's.
Yup, I lived that life too for 6 months in 1997. I spent a semester abroad, studying at Deakin. Lead me to the life I live today in Honolulu.
